Please help me. My Dh and I are taking our DD to Mont Tremblant in Feb. I don't know whether to take jeans w/thin long underwear or ski pants. She's at that age-wants to look cool but I'm at that age-don't want her to get pneumonia. ;) The goofy thing is I used to live in Telluride but I never skiied. Also which Uggs:

Thanks!!!

You can find great looking ski pants.Jeans get heavy and stay damp when wet.

As for the Uggs Neither are really practical for skiing but the black ones look the best.:thumbsup2

I am assuming you are questioning about the Uggs as an after ski boot, in which case either looks good, I too prefer the black.

As to the jeans. No, do not have her ski in jeans unless they have been treated with some sort of waterproofing. As the other poster mentioned, jeans absorb a lot of moisture and get very heavy. The long underwear should be of a wicking, non cotton material (ie polypropelene, silk). The old style "Waffle" type of long johns also absorb moisture (sweat) and if the moisture is not wicked away from the skin, hypothermia can occur. One good source for information is www.REI.com and somewhere on the site is how-to... One of these should have what you need, if not, they have online chat, or call the 800 number of their Mail order department.

Good luck and have fun.

Can you go to a local ski shop and look around? The ski clothes they have now are thin, waterproof and warm. Nobody on the slopes wear jeans.

:rotfl: Yes,I did mean which Uggs for after skiing. The black ones are my favorites for her too. I just ordered 2 prs of ski pants. Thanks again.

We wore pants that were water resistant. Mine were just layered athletic pants. My girls wore lined pants...that I guess were sort of athletic like. The layering prevented the freezing and the clothing choice prevented wet tushies.

We did rent ski pants for the hubby and my daughter---the bibs go high up (like overalls almost) so that you didn't get snow up the shirt or down the pants. The prices were not that bad where we skied when we rented them in town. Everything was more costly to rent at the slopes.

I'll have to try to go to New Orleans or Baton Rouge. It's hard to find ski clothing because we live in south Louisiana.

Dd is an avid skiier and snowboarder. Yesterday she got Columbia ski pants from Dickssporting goods. She got a great snowboarding jacket from overstock.com and her underarmer matched the lining of the jacket, must say she looked great.
