Sister Wives, anyone???

Kody said she grew up "in the lifestyle." Don't leaders of FLDS groups move wives around from one husband to a different one, when they disobey the leader? I read that somewhere.

Her former husband could have had her taken from him (if they are FLDS), or she left him, or they divorced from a conventional/monogamous marriage, or he's dead.

I just can't imagine a husband thinking his ex-wife and kids are in a polygamist household as something really peachy, unless he is FLDS--or dead.

Ok. Where is he? What's the situation? I hope they explain that.

the family are not members of the flds-they belong to the apostolic united brethren which embraces fundemental mormon practices but is'nt the flds church you think of with respect to the texas compound. their group does'nt believe in arranged marriages, and some members don't practice polygamy, but if they do the marriages are supposed to be entered into under free will and with the mutal agreement of all the partys (so i'm guessing existing "wives" get a vote).

i want to know what gives with this divorcee as well-while courting she lived 4 hours away so i wonder how they met, it's not like they would be running into each other in town. maybe there's a match dot com type of site for those seeking polygamist relationships (we know the wives use the internet-that's where the one gets all her data on shark vs. toaster annual fatalities:rotfl:).

Maybe MERI has the real "hots" for her?;):rotfl2:

I thought of that myself after I posted it. But I wonder if it is more like bringing in another wife to keep Kody busier. Maybe Meri doesn't look forward to her turn with Kody that much, so she hoped Robyn would take some pressure off.

Curiosity was the reason I watched the show and will be the reason I probably continue to watch.

I so agree Kody is creepy. He did not really show affection for any of the women. It was almost as if they were property to him. The BK thing is too funny.

I think the whole family would agree with you on this statement. Esp Kody and :bride::bride::bride::bride:.

I am really struggling with the "ewwww" factor of this show (as a married woman) and the fact that they are adults consenting to this lifestyle.

That said, Kody is a disgusting weasel. Driving a 2 seater sports car as the father of (almost) 13 children? Puh lease. You can bet your sweet bippy his wives aren't going to be allowed anywhere near that car.

And even though they are adults, what bugs me about the whole concept is the idea that one woman is not good enough to fulfill the role of "wife". What does that say to the daughters in the household? To me, it's teaching them they aren't good enough by themselves to fulfill the role.

And that is what I find disgusting about the whole concept of polygamy. :sad2:

Sorry if this has already been mentioned.......

I think it would be hilarious if one of the wives had a big announcement that she was wanting to bring a second husband into the family!!:lmao::rolleyes:

Ahh, an even better twist!

None of those women love this lifestyle. Meri is only staying because she does not want to pull her daughter away from the only family she knows. Christine cried through most of the interviews. She does not want Robyn there but just has to accept it for the good of the family. Robyn crying every 5 minutes was annoying.
I think this whole lifestyle is just so sad.

I don't agree w/ their lifestyle but I find then interesting. I wonder how the first wife felt when #2 came along and if one wife thinks she higher up to Kody than the others.

I'm so glad we have someone here (who has never met any of the wives) that can translate these women's actual emotions for us. Thank you. It kind of reminds me of those internet posters who say they can guarantee someone is doing something or other, even though that poster just read a story or saw a news clip and never met the people involved, let alone was an actual witness to what they're guaranteeing. It makes me want to ask what I'll get if their "guarantee" turns out to be invalid.

I watched both episodes last night and still found them to be absolutely intriguing. Of course I've seen the interviews done recently where they're all together and they spoke of how difficult it was bringing a new wife into the family. But they got through it, they're still together, and they still seem rather happy with their lifestyle.

And let's face it, TLC wouldn't have this show on if there weren't some drama somewhere within it. While I know I would have no interest in Kody, obviously these women do have interest in him and want to form this kind of partnership with him and each other. It's fascinating to watch. I think I'll hang for a few more episodes and see if it continues to hold my attention.

Didn't watch the second episode because I was bored to tears 1/2 way through the first one. These are not interesting people. Sad, yes. A little sordid, yes. Immature, yes. Interesting, no.

:thumbsup2 I agree-it was a yawnfest listening to these women blather on
:sad2:

Besides-who in their right mind would watch this instead of Mad Men?;)

Sorry I don 't get the whole plural marriage thing but my question is why add a 4th wife. The only person who seems totally happy with the idea is Kory (naturally) It only seems to be upsetting the apple cart adding a 4th. I am also concerned for Robyn's kids well mainly for Dayton. Being that he has Aspergers I know movie in itself can be hard on them. (yes I have a kids on the spectrum) Let alone eventually being in a house with so many people.

Kody- aka The Burger King- eeks me out. He doesn't seem to have any relationship with anyone. He seems disconnected. Like these are my wives and kids and my girlfriend and I have a whole other secret life.:confused3 I don't know why but that is the vibe I get from him.
I look at these wives and I feel sad for them. I think Meri really wants a husband all to herself. I think Janelle just wanted a donor and someone to let her work and have time to herself. She also seems very disconnected to me. She always has a blank look. I think Christine wants to embrace this lifestyle but fights what she really feels. Of course this is just my observation based on the show.
I also find the way Burger King interacts with everyone when he is being affectionate to be odd. It seems unnatural to me. I don't know why but it does.
I will agree that Robyn crying every 5 seconds is so annoying. Good Lord! Not everything is a tear jerking event! I get being emotional but I think that woman would cry over a salad! Pull it together sister!
I wish them all happiness but I feel like there is sadness there in that nobody's (the adults) needs are really being met.

She very clearly explained it in the first episode. :confused3

She actually asked Kody to find another wife so she could have a sister wife. Being from that background she was quite fine with it and wanted it.

She was probably tired of doing everything herself. I saw Meri moving furniture for Christine, packing Robyn up, etc. Where was Burger King?
He does seem very disconnected.
One thing is for sure there is no economic slowdown in his life. Did you see all the vehicles? Two Lexus, a convertable, who knows what else.
Robyn is set up in her own house for now right? Who's paying for that? Does she work? She must be getting child support from the ex plus breaks as a single parent.
Just makes me shake my head. He brings his older daughters with him so they can babysit. How convienent. Nevermind that one of the wives is about to have another kid.

Robyn said she was looking for a job around her new home.
