Single father and son age 6 first trip to WDW April 2014 PTR

I've been planning this short notice trip for the last month or so. I get more excited as the days pass. This will really be our first vacation together and I'm planning for it to be a memorable one. I went when I was his age with my family and still remember loving it (even though dad tricked me to get onto Space Mountain haha).

About our trip

When: Flying in from Columbus, OH early April 6th and flying out late April 12th
Where: Pop Century
Why: Promised him a trip this year, it's the month my vacation is available, and it's his 7th birthday on the 12th.
Staying at: Pop Century

We have 5 day tickets with park hopper and the DDP. I've planned our trip according to EasyWDW recommended and just left some time up in the air for him to decide what his favorite is, or where he wants to go. I imagine he's going to like DHS the most, followed closely by MK.

Favorite disney movie: The Incredibles (If Star Wars 1-6 counts, definitely those)
Most excited to meet: Darth Vader and Stitch
Most excited to ride: TSMM, Jedi Training, and Indiana Jones show


Now me I suppose

Favorite disney movie: Aladdin
Most excited to ride: Splash Mountain




He's quietly getting excited about it and telling everyone he talks to, but I'm pretty sure I'm more excited than he is. We've been watching a bunch of Disney movies, youtube videos, and anything we can find about Disney in anticipation. Really excited.

Still undecided whether or not to add Memory Maker onto our package. I'm leaning towards yes, but anyone have any opinions?

Yay! So exciting for you and your son! I know you both will have the time of your lives!

Looks like you are arriving the day we leave...

We will be there for a long weekend to celebrate my son's 16th birthday (April 3)!

Don't forget to make your FP+ ressies at 60 days out!

That's awesome! We leave in 50 days! We have our airfare, we have made our FP+ reservations, ADR's, and customized our Magic Bands (although we'll probably use our original set from our last trip)!

I hope you guys have a magical trip!

So close I can almost feel it.

We've been watching a Disney movie almost every night the past week or so(a lot of Frozen). haha Every morning, "Dad, how many more days?"

It sounds like you guys have a great trip coming up. I took a trip with just my 4 year old last September and it was so great. It was nice to let him take the lead and pick out his favorite things to do. You guys are going to have such a great time!

Just my luck.

Less than two days before we take off and I end up with a broken thumb during my league hockey game last night.

Luckily I didn't end up in a cast, only a splint, and it's not my dominate hand. Still looking to have a great time. Can't wait.
