My godmother's recently gotten into this "direct marketing" :::cough::: juice. She sent my mom and I each a bottle. Is it any good? Is it like pomegrate juice in that it helps to thin it?

OMG! We got the MonaVia speech the other week end. Some lady had a shirt on at a picnic and dh thought it said something in latin and asked her what it was, she had a sweater on and you couldnt see it all, well low and behold it was her MonaVia shirt!! Then we got the speech. At the end dh told her we were definetely not interested. Another girl was sitting there and said she tried it and has to drink water after it to get it down. She thought it tasted something like raspberry and blueberry combined etc. I thought to myself, sounds like the old Amway stuff etc. I forgot all the stuff the girl told us, like this is a low pressure thing, layered marketing etc. huh? Glad my dh decided to run far away from this one for sure!!

I have a friend who sells it - gives the hard sell to me everytime I see her. Currently I avoid her as much as possible. I've told her several times that I can't drink the stuff - I have health issues with one of the ingredients, it would put me in the hospital in kidney failure. Doesn't stop her from trying to sell it to me though. She claims Oprah recommends it highly. It cures cancer, diabetes, heart disease etc.... It costs a huge amount per bottle, but of course if you become a distributor you can get it cheaper. DH bought a bottle of "Bossa Nova" from the grocery store. It also is made with acai juice (the wonderful ingredient that cures all diseases according to friend) but it only cost a couple of bucks for a bottle, not the huge amount that MonaVie charges. Friend says it's not the same (even though ingredients listed on the side are the same) and you need to buy the expensive stuff to cure all your diseases. Have I mentioned I am now avoiding this friend as much as possible???

My daughter just gave me a bottle but I've just used it a couple of times so don't have an opinion. I rather like the taste though.

She has been using it for a couple of months and thinks it is making her feel better. She has decided to start selling it in order to get a better price. A couple of women in her office use it and think it works great.

I am always very leary about anything like this but since she gave it to me I'm going to give it a try.

Ugh. Not a good experience here. DH tried it first. Allergic reaction. As he is taking his first sip of the stuff, he's reading the ingredients listing. Oops. Shellfish. Too late. Hives. :( He brought it home, I tried it for a few days, but could not get past the taste. :scared:

I know someone who bought it... decided she liked it and wound up making her own cocktail of juices. She likes it better and thinks it probably works as well. The upshoot, it costs FAR less than this stuff.

Ew! Good too know-I can't drink it-vegetarian. Too bad. :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1
Yeah, her boss sells this swill...but I'm not going to editorialize on that.

Internet talk on the shellfish/allergen issue concerning MonaVie seems somewhat mixed. It seems DH was mistaken when he broke out in hives because ...

Shellfish... is a known allergen and glucosamine is derived from shrimp shells. However, people who are allergic to shellfish are actually allergic to the protein troponin, which is found in the muscle (protein) of shrimp. Analyses do not find any protein in the glucosamine hydrochloride used in MonaVie Active juice. Glucosamine hydrochloride (GHCl), the form of glucosamine used in MonaVie Active juice, is more than 99 percent pure. Because shellfish is a known allergen, please consult with a physician before taking MonaVie Active juice.

Silly husband. I'll have to tell him he was wrong to break out like that.

Vegetarian, luuucky!! You're off the MonaVie hook!! :p

Hi Hedy,

I think the juice is great as is, provided you chill it and shake it, of course everyone has their own tastes but it is the first thing I reach for in the morning. A friend of mine I shipped a bottle to (yes, I'm a distributor too :) said he preferred to thin with water, others make smoothies and whatnot.

Best To Ya!

Wow! It amazes me to read these posts!! I have been drinking MonaVie for a month now, and am extremely surprised for all it has done for me! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 I thought my Mother was crazy for getting involved in something like this, since she has a large rental cabin business here in the Great Smoky Mountains, and a gift shop. She has NO time at all. However, she tried it & it worked it's miracles on her, and she was sold! Once I researched the product and the opportunity (which truly is huge!), I quickly changed my mind. And when I started hearing personal testimonies of people I knew...well, all I know is that MonaVie is a blessing! My recommendation to anyone that receives a bottle to try...grab it and run! You are very likely to be pleasantly surprised! :cloud9:

DH tried one bottle...it did nothing for him.
I have 2 words for those who feel differently......"placebo effect"...

I have to say we where givena bottle and i didnt notice a difference.......i think the mind is a powerful thing!!!

I agree, the mind is a powerful thing! However, I have personal friends that have been blessed since taking MonaVie. One friend, in her 60's, very healthy..has had irritable bowel syndrome since a child, and for the first time has been relieved of the pain & symptoms! Another friend, in his 50's is a carpenter, and has had 2 back surgeries with constant trips to the chiropractor, and acupuncturist. With the pain he had, he was willing to try anything. If it was a 'mind thing', then the acupuncture should have been enough to 'help' him, right? Nope. He started on MonaVie and noticed a difference the first week. He has taken it for a little over a month now, and he ran out for 3 days. During those 3 days, he said he had tremendous pain in his back. Once he started back, he felt better the 2nd day he started taking it again. He is an absolute believer!
As the Dr's say, it takes about 3 months to truly feel the effect of any normal drug, and the same goes for MonaVie. I didn't go in expecting any miracles, only hoping for the energy that everyone else seems to notice. I have sleep apnea (wearing the sleep mask..), and not only do I sleep now, I am sleeping so deeply, I am dreaming! I can't tell you how long it's been since I've done that. I'm a happy camper! I won't go into what it's done for my asthma & allergies, but I just wanted people to know that it does work when you give it time! I'm not trying to sell anyone...I'm just a firm believer and feel like I HAVE to share the news with people! :sunny:

This is the latest get rich quick scheme to hit our neighborhood. We have two chiropratic doctors in the neighborhood that have been selling the stuff. DH recently met yet another neighbor who came over to introduce himself and invite us to a neighborhood "get together". Here we thought he was being nice and welcoming us to the neighborhood, then we see that its a MonaVie party. :scared1: We didn't go... What is up with people that latch onto these pyramid schemes? Are they that gullible and do they think they can convince others to be just as gullible? :confused3

Well if you don't want to 'get rich quick', then I wouldn't worry about it! However, you can't knock it until you try it for a sufficient amount of time! It is so encouraging to see Chiropractic doctors involved in this! How many Dr's do you know that would want to take money out of their practices/pocket, with a product that may make people feel better, meaning less business for them??
If you research the MonaVie organization & compensation plan, you'll quickly see that this is NOT a pyramid! I am far from being gullible, and only got involved with MonaVie after spending COUNTLESS hours researching the product AND the company! I own my own business, and have never been involved with any companies that sell things, or have home parties. That is NOT me. However, after my research & personal experience, I am a MonaVie believer and will share my story with anyone that may want the health or wealth it has to offer. I can understand your critical thoughts, as I once felt the same way re: my Mother getting involved in the first place! Until I educated myself on the facts... ;)

Run. Run like the wind. :scared:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: There is a guy at work who I refer to as the "MonaVieBOT"!!!!!!! Drives me loony with his MonaVie speach...ALL THE TIME!

I see him comin...I run...however he actually followed me in the bathroom one day....Carrying on about MonaVie:scared:

They are worse then religious zealots that use to hang out in Airports!:scared:

You do see the hypocrisy in this?:rolleyes1

Ummm...no. I'm not the one criticizing something, when I haven't tried it. I have tried it for a month, and ALREADY it is helping me. Not to mention the people that I personally know that have been on it longer, with extremely positive effects for them.

I will not be involved in a debate. I only want people to see that there are two sides to a story, and all I had been reading on here was very negative. If people try it, and like it, then all the better for them. You don't see me putting down the people that were making negative, snide remarks do you? Nope..only sharing my story.
