Simple Thing a Cast Member Did...

First ride, first day (ToT) of our most recent trip. We were on our way to RnRC when DS12 realized he left his hat on ToT. We had only been gone a few minutes so we turned around and walked back to the ride exit and let a CM know. She walked us back to another CM, a stern looking gentleman who was holding DS's hat. In the darkness of the ride exit and in complete character, he reminded DS that this is why they tell everyone to look around for your belongings before you leave the ride. DS was pretty nervous about the lecture. We thanked the CM for holding the hat for us, and he breaks into a huge grin and says, "Hey guys, you wanna ride again? No waiting!" He walked us back and boarded us on the next ride!

I must admit I LOVE THIS THREAD!!!
On our first trip, which was FILLED with Pixie Dust, our server at 1900 Park Fare made sure my DD4, at the time, got the first dance with Prince Charming. We got to Rapunzel's meet and greet just as they let the last child in and the CM made "room for one more" after we chatted him up a few minutes.
Our second trip last year we got fast passes for Mickey and Minnie at MK so they would be our last stop so we could say goodbye to Mickey and Minnie and say thank you for letting us play in their parks. They spent extra time with my DD5 and Mickey gave me a BEAR HUG. For a split second I turned into a child I felt the words thank you come out of my mouth and a tears well up in my eyes. As a grown man every penny I spent on that trip was worth it in that split second.
We already booked our third trip this December and I can't wait to go. We love WDW because it is the only place where magic truly can happen.

We have had quite a few....

But our last trip was by far the best...

It started off by getting upgraded to courtyard at WL....

When I went out to tell my husband a nice young man from the Netherlands asked my daughter if that she must be princess.... she said she was....he told her that she was missing something and preceded to take out a ring from his pocket while he was down on one knee. She wore that ring until it fell apart...Unfortunately my camera was with my husband so I have no pictures of it.

But the trip was made super magical when the CM for Naveen puled us aside on our 4th night with him (yes you read that right....my daughter loved him)..My daughter is HF autistic and The Princess and the Frog w the first movie that she was able to handle and sit through in movie theater. Needless to say my daughter knows a lot about the movie and through her time each night talked to him about living in the bayou and cooking gumbo. The CM asked to speak to me and joked that we where there too much and we needed to leave....she assured us no...but that this would be Naveen's last night while we were there and that he wanted to spend as much time with my daughter as our night allowed...She spent the night talking and dancing and waving to the parade...other CMs came out to meet her because they had heard both Naveen and his CM talking about her...

We could not have had that trip at any other park except for Disney because they do truly go out of their way to make it magical!

Off to finish reading the rest of the thread...just had to add....

When my DD was dressed as Snow White, we were walking down Main St. to exit when a CM in the middle of the street stopped us and asked if DD had met Snow White yet. She said no and he proceeded to walk us to Snow White Meet and greet. They had just closed the line bc she had to get to the Castle for the show, but the nice CM asked if DD could get in line and they said she would be the last one. I have the best picture of little Snow White looking up at the "real" Snow White with the cutest expression. Had it not been for the CM, we wouldn't have this memory!

I am all about the pixie dust but this trip I noticed something a little bit different. Instead of making a big deal out of things, in an "I hope you understand I'm doing something special for you" kind of way, it was more that they would do things very matter of fact, like "no biggie, this is how we roll". in other words, like doing something special is business as usual. Which at Disney, it is.

Alphonse the runner at AoA spent a long time trying to track down a missing package for us. He made a special trip to our room to talk to us about it. Once it was located he called to let us know what had happened.

our cashier didn't charge us for my little guy's juice box when we were paying OOP. Unfortunately I didn't understand him because of his accent. He was trying to tell me "it's a gift" but for some reason
It wasn't computing. He had to repeat himself more than once. I appreciated it.

the arcade is like Chuck E. Cheese, in that you get points for little prizes. They have several one and two point prizes. DD was down to her last few points, and chose a few of the same one point prizes. The cm counted them out but gave her too many. I tried to give them back but he pushed them across the counter to her.

I had taken a very tired little guy ds7 to the AoA food court to get lunch before heading to our room for a nap. I didn't realize it at the time, but he was getting sick. He was exhausted and just plopping down to sit, wherever he was. A cm whispered in my ear about the music underwater at the pool, in case I wanted to take him for a pick me up. I thought this was especially thoughtful because he gave me the option, instead of blurting it out in front of DS.

Our first trip was awesome as any first trip, but several special things stood out. All the cast members were so sweet to our DD because she had a 1st visit and b-day pin. They approached her to trade pins...she loved it and got some of her very favorites. The bartender at POR made her a virgin Bloody Mary (because Mom got one and he could see her little disappointed face because Mom had a fancy drink) and couldn't believe she wanted it nor drank it. They applauded her...it was so cute. Most kids don't like tomato juice, olives and pepperoncini, I guess! We had to cancel BOMA and the CM got us into 'Ohana, last minute. That was awesome and my DH's favorite. My DD lost a tooth and mousekeeping was so sleep because it bled on her pillow. She made her lots of towel characters and left her an ice pak and came back to check on her, too! Sooo sweet. The server at Boatwrights for her B-day gave her balloons, sang Happy B-day, brought her a cake, which I never even asked for. It was so AWESOME! In Tomorrow land we ran into Chip and Dale and my DD just happened to have a C&D tee on. The literally took about 50 pictures with her and fussed over her for about 15 minutes. It was awesome. Then at the parade, they saw her at the side again and jumped off and hugged her and jumped back on! I know there was more, but can't recall everything..it was a magical trip!

My first magic moment was back in 1980. I was 6yrs, and we came we came across Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. They plucked a flower from a nearby tree and put it in my hair.

My parents recently took us all to WDW (me, dh, ds 12 and dd 9). It was amazing to take our kids, plus the trip just happened to be a few weeks before our 15th anniversary and we had honeymooned at WDW. :) On our honeymoon our favorite restaurant was Coral Reef. I made reservations for my family of four plus my parents. I really wanted to get a table next to the tank, but knew they probably wouldn't put a party of six there. We got there early and tried to play up the anniversary in hopes of a good table. lol They took us to a booth across from the tank. :( Thats when my mom spoke up (knowing how badly I wanted to sit at the tank) and asked if we could take the two tables near the tank that sat two and four people. It worked! It was the best, most amazing meal! I could have sat there all day!!! What made it even better was the great waiter, Art. I really turn into a kid at Disney, and I think he could tell. He joked with me about "shutting the window" if I didnt stop looking at the fish and look at the menu. lol He pointed out hidden mickeys, and even asked me if I wanted a special drink. I had been drinking the one with the light-up cube. He promised that I would love it, and it would be just like the other one. He brings it out and tells me that he thought I needed something special to wear all day. He put a light-up Tinkerbell on my drink like they put on the kids drinks. LOL It was great! Art really made the meal even more fabulous! Oh and the food was great too. Art made some excellent suggestions. ::yes::

Another thing that really made the trip magical was everyone wishing us Happy Anniversary. At first dh didnt want to wear his pin. Totally uncool, ya know. lol Once he heard how many well wishes I was getting he started wearing his too. :)

We all had such a great time that we are planning to go back in August 2014 to celebrate our 40th birthdays! I cant wait!!!! Forget going for the kids birthdays, I want to go for MINE!!! :rotfl:

In Aug 2011, my DD then 13 had spent most of her money & was looking for someone with a Toy Story Slinky dog to trade with. She only found 1 girl who had 1near a kiosk in WL but she wasn't willing to give it up. As we were walking away the lady working at the kiosk said "wait" and she opened up a new 1 and gave it to her. We were all kind of teary eyed at this lady's generosity. We thanked her multiple times & last May my wife & I stayed at WL & I was happy to see her & told her what she had done & how much we still talk about it & how much it meant to us.

Also in May at WL I left a note & tip for Mousekeeping thanking the lady (wish I could remember her name. Started with an M) for the towel animals she was leaving all over the place. We came back for a midday break & my wife went to the room before me & she called & said "you've GOT to come up here & see what she did today!" I walked in & saw she had arranged sheets, room menu, towels, my wife's hair accessories, etc to make a TOWEL PERSON! It was amazing & we left it there for about 24 hours & slept in the other bed. I have pics & video & if I ever figure out what I'm doing I may post it somewhere someday.

We've received a lot of pixie dust. And, a pp was commenting that many of them seemed to be for crying or pouting, I can honestly say we have never had that and still received plenty of it!

On a trip several years ago, we were waiting for the ABC commissary to open. A CM came out, took us inside to a table, took our order, and brought it to us. This was a quick service place and definitely not what we were expecting. She talked with our family and made it a very nice meal.

On our past trip, we received a lot of pixie dust!

We were playing in the arcade at POP using the free voucher we had for a few games. A CM came and gave me son a huge stack of tickets. He was amazed, chose a nice item he wanted and said he was happy with that. He took all leftover tickets and gave them to another boy playing a game. (We did not make him to this). The CM asked why he did that since the tickets were given to him. He responded with, "I got what I wanted and I wanted to share." We added that our family tries to share our blessings with others and he was happy to get something he wasn't expecting and had no problem sharing. The CM grabbed another big wad of tickets and told him to use them for himself. lol

We were at the MK waiting for a parade. My DS wanted to check a pin lanyard from a CM across the street. Although he was just 5, we could see him plainly and just sent him across the street to trade. The CM walked him back, complimented him (and us) on his manners, and gave him an extra pin.

DS and I had ridden ToT and were going to meet the rest of our family (they won't ride!) When the ride was over, a CM asked if he wanted to ride again. Of course he did. She led us to the front and let us ride again.

We were at AK and in the area to meet and greet the pooh characters. We were the last family through. So, as we met the characters, they were leaving. Well, Eeyore was leaving right in front of us. My son said, "Eeyore! You look sad. Do you want some company?" Eeyore held out his hand and they walked hand in hand to the exit. I have a super sweet picture of this and it's one of my favorites.

We've been given stickers by tons of DVC CM's. One even gave him an enitre roll!

While eating at Mama Melrose, the waitress was teasing with my son and she learned he hated green beans. It's a running joke in our house about it. Well, when she brought his dessert, it was topped with a green bean! He laughed so hard and she made our dinner highly enjoyable.

On another note, the stepsisters saw my son when he was 4 and said they were coming back to marry him later. He is scared of them to this day because of that!!!! Lol. He's finally said that he will see them again our next trip because he knows he can always say "I don't." hahahaha

This past July we ate lunch at the Crystal Palace. At one point, after the little parade inside the restaurant was over, our 3yo DD approached a CM to ask if she could have a handful of the Mickey Head confetti that he had been passing out to the children. He turned to her, and handed over the entire bag! It was all she talked about for the rest of the trip.

....side note....I had to leave the housekeeping staff a note (and a good tip) because she sprinkled that pixie dust in the room on more than one occasion.

On arriving at the All star sports on our trip in 2008 we were checking in and an english cast member walked past and noticed i was wearing a Manchester United shirt. Before i knew it he had printed out a match report of the game that was being played while we were on our flight from england.

:thumbsup2

Oh and there was the time on our first ever trip when an english bus driver noticed my manchester united shirt and started talking about football(soccer) on the way to what was MGM at the time. He even stopped as close to the entrance as he could for us rather than drop us off where he was supposed to.

:thumbsup2

:offtopic: As I am reading this, the Manchester United game is being watched as they all are in this house, if at all possible. We live near DC and my DH is the only one who has been to England. My 14 yr. old DS has been a huge Manchester United fan for several years and can't wait to go see a game at Old Trafford! :jumping1:

When I was 11, we were around Fantasyland and Mum suggested we rode Snow Whites Scary Adventures. I wasnt so keen as I was scared - the name didnt help, so we stuck around meeting characters for a bit as there was hardly anyone around. When we met Snow White, my Nan told her that I was scared to ride Scary Adventures to which she said it wasnt so bad and took my hand, walked me over to the ride, lined up and rode the ride next to me! Since then, Ive gone on the ride with no cares. Gutted its now closed!

We've had a few moments of pixie dust, but the one that stands out the most is when we took dd for the first time. Our second day there was her fourth birthday. We had 7 of us and our ds had pulled fp's for Peter Pan, which were hours away. None of us realized that would keep us from getting FP's for a few hours, as we hadn't been to WDW since 1999. This was 2007.

We were outside Winnie the Pooh and the line was very long...45 minute range. I told dd that we'd have to come back later, because the line was too long and we couldn't get fast passes at that moment. There was no consoling her. A cm came from somewhere, saw dd's bd button and saying that no one should be crying on their birthday, asked what was wrong. DD has autism and, at the time, didn't talk to anyone but us. When she did talk, she was pretty unintelligable. So I explained the situation. She asked how many and then told us to follow her. She led us in a back way to the front of the fast pass line and spoke to the girl working there. Next thing I knew, dd (and the rest of us)were led onto the ride and they wished dd a happy birthday.

The cm who arranged it and spoke to us was Luz and when we went on our next ride a while later, I asked someone about filling out a complimentary comment card. The man that I asked asked me the name of the person who helped us. I told him and it turned out he was her manager and was very glad to hear that she had made dd feel better. We did go to City Hall before our day ended and write out something nice about her :)

The second thing that left a big impression was last year at BWV. I was at the concierge desk cancelling some ADR's and the CM couldn't find one, so it was taking a while. My DH took my dd out to the veranda to sit on the rocking chairs. Someone walked up to him, said his name was Ed and asked my DH if he'd like a gift from Disney. DH was a little confused, but said sure and took the box and put it in the room. He told me about it while we were at the park. When we got back to the hotel later and opened it, it was a special 40th Anniversary Snow Globe!

There have been other little things, but those are the 2 biggest ones that left an impression.

Okay, I have sat here this morning, reading every post, crying multiple times, and losing several hours of my day.
We have had several pixie dust moments through the years.

DD went to BBB and on the bus ride back to WL, the bus driver played the recording about a Disney Princess being on board. It made her day.
DS was chose to go on stage and play the cowboy at HDDR. He received a kiss, a certificate, and a photo of the kiss. He hates that photo.
DS was also chose to drive the Jungle Cruise through the temple. It was a couple of years later that we broke it to him that the boat was on a rail. That he didn't actually drive it. He was disappointed. He really thought that he drove the boat.
Kids were chose to say the Pledge of Allegiance at MK during the Flag ceremony but the microphone wasn't working that evening. The Dapper Dans came over and sang them a song for being such good sports about it.

These are the reasons that we keep going back. We've even purchased DVC a few years ago. We just don't want the magic to end.

My favorite maid, Amina, realized I enjoyed buying stuffed animals. I was delighted on our last day, with a hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind towel animal. In the shape of a bunny, my favorite animal! I took it home and placed it on my mantle with a eclectic collection of Disney Merchandise(only the best of course). Another time when I asked a CM at the King K club at the Poly for a bottle of water. Florida water is weird. And she comes out with a HUGE jug of water, covered in plastic wrap. Laughed all the way to my room.

We had just entered the Magic kingdom. I gave my 3 DDs a squirt bottle of water to keep cool in the hot sun. Unknown to me, my oldest daughter 7 decided to squirt herself until she was completely soaked. We went to the first ride, IASW, and DD 7 said she was freezing. The CM saw that she was all wet, and she wrote out a slip of paper that would allow us to buy her a new tshirt from any Disney gift shop. Fast forward to a few hours later, we were standing in a gift shop to get out of the summer rain, when my husband started telling another CM about what had happened, and how we were trying to find my daughter just the right shirt. My 4 year old said "Can I get a shirt too?" The CM disappeared, and when she returned, she gave us another paper allowence for us to buy DD4 a shirt too!!!

On our last trip we were next to the Buzz ride when the kiddos heard some music and started dancing, well a few cm's came up and started dancing around with them just having the best time, which we thought was awesome! It made their day. Then a few minutes after they left, one of the cm's came back with a green slushie for the kids and said it was sent directly from Buzz Lightyear himself. They were through the roof excited and still talk about it 3 years later.

We were in line to see handy manny at DHS two years ago with my two sons my one son was four and extremely shy. He wanted to trade a pin with a cast member but was too shy to ask. She knew just by the way he was looking at them. She went up to him an asked if he would like to trade She actually got him to speak to her which is a big deal to a kid who his painfully shy. He treasures that pin to his day. Such a small thing that meant soooo much.
