DH and I are having a disagreement on the number of pairs of pants he needs to bring on a 7 day cruise. I say 4 pairs minimum, he says 2 pairs max because he will only wear them 1 1/2 hours per night. What do you all say? I know I'm right though, because I'm the wife....what does he know anyway?:p

I agree with wifey on this one! I count at least 4, as the 7 day has a formal and a semi. My DH wore a suit to the formal, sport coat/w slacks to semi, then brought 2 other pr of slacks to rotate for the other nites. I'm sure many have gotten away with less...
LOL!

Gee Sonya minimum of 4!!!!!
You have my sympathy Bill. Sounds like my wife planning for a 2 day weekend getaway...
My answer was 2 as well before I even saw Bill's...
Don't give in Bill. Bet she''ll want you to take more than 2 pairs of underwear too!!! ;)
Cheers,
Grumbo

I'm with you on this one Sonya. I pack 4 pairs for my husband.

Hi Sonya.

DH and I are having a disagreement on the number of pairs of pants he needs to bring on a 7 day cruise. I say 4 pairs minimum, he says 2 pairs max

Unless you're planning to have DH do something kinky after hours in those pants, 2 pair should be sufficient...

I'm going to go with the men here (Gasp!) and say two. One of the comments I see over and over when people come back is that they packed too much. For our 7 day western, my hubby took his tux for formal and semi-formal nights and one pair of dress pants with a sport coat for lumieres and palo (not done on either formal or semi-formal night). Drycleaning is really reasonable on board so if hubby dumps something on his lap, never fear... just send it out to be cleaned. It's 1 day service!

don't overpack. Change shirts, don't worry about the pants. Make sure one pair of shoes works for both pants.

Just returned from the 8/16 Western and I have to give the guys this one.

DH had two pair of khaki pants and the dark slacks that went with his dark suit. He only used one pair of khaki's or his dark suit slacks, depending on which restaurant we were assigned to that evening. After dinner, it was a rush back to the cabin for a quick change to shorts and t-shirt. I will only pack those two on my next cruise.

Of course, I am the laundry queen. :p

I would go for 2 pair too....you can certainly wear the same pair twice since you are only wearing them for a hour and a half each time. I overpacked for the 4 day by bringing 4 pairs of pants for the dinners...that won't happen next time LOL!

Hey Linda.

After dinner, it was a rush back to the cabin for a quick change to shorts and t-shirt.

Rushing??? You call THAT rushing? Here in New York, we call Ed's gait a saunter. Come up north. I'll show ya rushing! lol.

PS - have I told you lately that I miss you guys???!!!...

Two pairs are fine.

I'm a terrible over packer, but even I only packed 2 pairs for my Dad on our last trip. And that was 1 pair more than he actually wore. (Shh, he doesn't know I know that.)

amymouse - I hope the same can't be said for his underwear...

Oh Buckaroo, please don't make my mind go there!

Hi Sonya

I think 2 pairs of dress pants are enough, also.

Im hoping DH has 2 pairs dress pants to take with him. Im thinking of taking his tux measurements (I believe I saved them from last year) to the store and buying them myself! I have his waist and inseam measurements. Thinking if I get some type of adjustable waist they might fit?

My DH took a suit that he wore twice (once to Palo and once on semi-formal night--we rented a tux for formal night). He also had a sport coat and dress slacks for Lumieres. This is before they changed the dress code there.

So that said, now that Lumieres doesn't require a jacket, he'd have NO dress slacks, just one suit with a couple dress shirts (plus the tux rental). The rest would be chino's and oxfords or golf shirts. And he'd probably bring two pair of chino's. I agree with others, the dry cleaning/pressing costs are very reasonable, so if need be he'd just send them out.

Ok, ok, I can see I'm losing the battle....and I am dumbfounded. Let me clarify what DH considers "two pairs of pants".

We are bringing his black suit which will be worn on formal and semiformal night. Then, he wants to use these black slacks(minus jacket) one or two other nights and bring along a pair of khaki(greenish) dress slacks for the other nights.

He doesn't own any chinos/dockers type pants so the choices are blue jeans(unacceptable and not going in the suitcase) or dress pants.

He will be wearing either tropical print type shirts or short sleeve dress shirts with these pants(excluding formal/semi-formal of course). I think we need some other colors and am suggesting a pair of navy blue and a pair of tan(stone) slacks. I may bring it down to 3 pairs as a concession to all of you who say I am over packing but I'll have to see if his shirts will match appropriately. I'm NOT going out to buy new shirts just so he can bring less pants! He wears polo shirts and jeans to work every day but the polo with dress slacks is not what I consider to be the most flattering look for him so he'll be sticking to the dressier shirts.

So, there's my rationalization. Further comments anyone? You do all believe I should bring 7 shirts, right?

The way I read this, he would have the equivalent of 4 pairs of pants! Yeah! tux pants, suit pants, 2 pairs chinos. See, I think you need that many.

Okay, I get it now. Let's talk turkey. (Turkey legs? Did someone say turkey legs? Oh, sorry. That's a different board all together).

While it is true that I packed only 2 pairs of DRESS pants for my Dad (only 1 of which did he wear, shhh) My previous post did not include the 3 pairs of KHAKIS that we also brought. So, that brings our total up to 4 (or 5) pairs of slacks.

Goodness, looks like the vote goes to "wifey" after all.

All kidding aside. My Dad wore the dressy slacks with his sport coat to Lumiere's and the semi-formal night, and wore his tux for the formal night. The rest of the nights he wore his khakis with polos. All other occasions were also covered by the khakis with polos or WDW t-shirts. His khakis were even perfect with his tropical shirt for "Tropicalifraglistic...nite."

Hope this helps (and vindicates) you!

Amy

P.S. If DH is going to be spending any of his days in shorts (not an option for my Dad's 75 year old legs) then you probably CAN reduce the number of pants you take.

You don't really want to get us started on the shirts, do you?
