Hi,

I know this is a crazy question but on formal and semi-formal nights, do people get dressed before going to the show or after the show. Also, if going to a club after, do most people change before going?? I do not want to show up in my formal wear only to see everyone else in shorts!!

thanks,

12 days and counting down!!:Pinkbounc

From what I recall, everyone is dressed at the show. As far as going out afterward,I don't know since I retired to my room.

On last year's 7 day Easten we had second seating. We like most others dressed up early, went to the show and then to dinner. As soon as dinner was over all of our table mates and we would go back to the rooms, change into shorts and go to a club or up on deck depending on what was on the agenda for that night. I plan on doing the same thing in about 9 weeks.

We just returned from 7day eastern Magic and had the late dinner seating. This meant our show was 6:30-7:30 giving us an hour until dinner. We never "dressed" for the show and I noticed most people also did not. On formal nights maybe 30% of the audience was in their formal wear and the advantage I saw for them was they could stand in line for their portraits and not be late for dinner seating as we were.

We had second seating dinner on both of our DCL MAGIC cruises. We dressed before the show, had a leisurely stroll before, after or instead of photos and got to the restaurant at a good time. We stayed dressed when we went to the clubs after dinner.

Basically--do what you want. It is your cruise and probably someone else will be dressed like you or wish they were.

It looks as if it is whatever you feel like doing on that particular day. I can see the advantage of dressing on formal night before the show so you can go right to portraits before dinner. This will be our 1st professional portrait in 8 years!! As far as staying dressed after....I guess it will depend on how my FEET are feeling in heels!!

I'm so excited about this trip that I just want to know everything about it that I can!!! Thanks again!

Cruisin' in 11 days!!

Who said anything about heels?

I wear low shoes all the time now and after my recent bout with plantar-fascitis (don't ask--PAINFUL FOOT :( ) my podiatrist has suggested New Balance sneakers because they come in widths and have GOOD arch supports (I also found out they are MADE IN THE USA) or TEVA sandles. I do have a pair of Hush Puppy dressy shoes with low heels and arch supports that I can wear for short periods. But that is it for me at home.

For the cruise it will be Tevas or sneakers. :) If the dress cannot go with Tevas--I will pack a different dress. Who will be looking at my feet anyway? And--it will be less to pack therefore less luggage to LUG.

The heels are a long story here, believe me!! I typically wear low heels with all my dresses and pants but I borrowed a long black skirt and top from my DS for formal night and she would not let me take it unless I promised to wear the strapy heels that 'GO' with it!! I'm the more conservative sister and she is the fashion queen!! LOL!! :p

I'm with you on the New Balances! They are the most comfortable tennis shoes I've ever worn and they are definitely making this trip with me!!

HMMM.....

Although I do have a fashion maven for a sister, I could not fit her clothes if I tried. She could not loan me anything and anyway she lives in Alabama and I live in Indiana.

How about a compromise--wear the strappy high heeled sandles for the picture (that will not show your feet anyway) and maybe for dinner and then go back to the room and switch shoes?

Or you could "forget" to pack her shoes. Would she ever know? The picture will not show what you have on.
