Significant Updates Coming to FastPass+ April 10th

This has been a trending topic and the consensus I've seen from other boards is that you can book 3 FPs and then cancel two - as long as you use your Tier 1 FP first. Once you do that, you'll be able to book another Tier 1 FP but it has to be same-day, while you're in the park.
Post #8 above suggests that cancelling one or two of your original three is not working. I've never tried, so this is new stuff for me.

At the time of initial booking, you must book 3 FPs. Then, by Modifying the FPs for that specific date, you can Cancel 1 or 2 FPs and enter the park with only 1 FP.

For anyone entering the park on the 10th, they can Cancel 2 FPs before they enter the park, use their 1 FP and then choose another either after they enter the FP line or after they complete the ride. That is, if the changes go into effect without any mishaps with the FP system.

I don't even have a trip planned and I am so excited to hear this!! Those fastpass kiosk lines are always so long! Sometimes longer than ride lines!

I'm not questioning this as I have never tried it. But it seems to be completely at odds with Post #8. The poster there tried to drop down from 3 to 2 and couldn't.

They talk about how the changes to the fp+ app will make it work more like the Disneyland app. That is not a helpful description at all. How does the Disneyland app work?

Poster in Post #8 is trying to book less than 3 initially. You have to book 3 and then Modify to Cancel 1 or 2 by using the MDE website.

I just tried changing my FP+ on Sunday, April 10th.

I don't read "changing" as being the same as "booking initially". "Changing" implies that the FPs had already been booked. And given that they were trying to change FPs for April 10 which is only 6 days away, it is highly unlikely that what they were doing was an initial booking.

I booked my FP+ for Sunday, April 10th at Epcot 60 days out on Feb. 8th or so I believe. I have tried to change my FP+ from the original 3 booked attractions to either just 2 or just 1 attraction. Every time I do this it gives me additional attractions so that I have 3 total no matter what I input, either 2 or 1 FP+ reservations. I hope that makes sense. I cannot modify my present 3 attraction FP+ to just 1 or 2 FP+ for the day on Sunday the 10th of April. I might just have to wait until the 10th to be able to do this. Who knows?

Many posters have inadvertently Canceled 1 or 2 FPs via the website and then had to call IT to reinstate their lost slots. Perhaps Disney has tweaked this recently in anticipation of the changes set for April 10th? I haven't gone in via the website to check on Canceling there.

@bobob1916 ~ from the MDE website, not the app, after you have made your initial 3 you can then return to your FPs for that day and Cancel 1 or 2 FPs.

I was able to do that for April 10th. The system gave me RnRC plus two others. I then returned to the FP section and selected the Cancel some of my selections Button; Canceled 2 and only have RnRC for the 10th.

This can only be done from the website, not via the MDE app.

Thanks for the info. I was going about it another way. I was going to New FP+ and not to the cancel FP+. When I go to new FP+ and choose only TT it gives me 2 more FP+ for a total of 3.

You're welcome! :) Going back to New FP gives you the initial 3 as long as you have an available ticket entitlement.

Some good news... http://www.****************/breaking-major-upgrades-fastpass-walt-disney-world/

The first change is guests will no longer need to use a kiosk to make additional Fastpass+ reservations. Guests will now be able to book an additional and even further FP+ reservations through the MyDisneyExperience app.

Guest will be also be able to choose between 1-to-3 Fastpass+ reservations in advance. They will no longer be forced to pick 3.

Additional Fastpass+ reservations can be made one at time after your initial advance reservations have been used up. Each additional pass can be made yourself through the mobile app or website, and even booked for another park if you plan to park hop.

With the new system, guests will be able to choose and attraction and time simultaneously. This should allow for better customization of guests schedules.

Another cool feature being added is the ability to remove individual guests from a Fastpass+ reservation and the ability to cancel a single reservation instead of all of them.

With these changes implemented, the Quick Picks Fastpass+ option will be removed.

According to WDW News Today, “Guests will see significant changes to the look of the app (and kiosk interface) on April 10th, 2016, but larger changes that will make the app look and function more like the new official Disneyland Resort app are still expected at a later date.”

Tell us what you think of these changes in the comments below or on Facebook.

and being able to add the 4th fast pass to another park is huge plus. :)

will it allow cross-park FP's? And, what about people without smart phones? How will they be able to do it if there are no more kiosks?

It sounds like the kiosks will still be there for the non-smart phone peeps. I certainly hope for crosspark FPs! Gotta put those park hoppers to good use!

so if you're park hopping and use 3 FPs at Magic Kingdom, in the car on the way to Hollywood Studios you could try to book another FP for there?
