What I've learned from my ER trips is this: don't go for a broken arm. They won't set it; they just send you to your regular doctor in the morning and you end up with a big bill fer nuthin'!

Nope, Kate, she had a very high fever and they wanted to run tests. Of course the Dr's office had just closed when they called to tell me this. So off to the ER!

It's different alright. It's weird though because I wouldn't exactly call it friendlier or ruder, it's just strange here. There are still nice people and still argumentative people and still goofy people...well all of it. I guess that it all comes in smaller doses now so it's harder to escape certain things? Do I sound confusing or what!

I bet that this board will build back up again as new people find it (and some old-timers come back too). Right now it's in transition, not a good one but I suppose it'll be strong again one day.

For what its worth, I MISS EVERYONE who is no longer here. People have scattered to at least 3 (probably more) message boards. Its been impossible to keep up with friendships. For that reason, I've found I don't visit here nor those boards. I'm not a fan of large threads or knowing minute details of peoples lives & children. I prefer multiple small threads with many interesting topics that I can pick from. This place just isn't the same. Not just the missing posters, but also my opinion on what goes on here has changed.

Not everyone who posted there & here was banned.
Some were banned that had never posted there. Some were on vacation.
Thus making this entire situation a royal mess.
Must also add that no lawyers were ever heard from by anyone.
100+ people all told the same story of their experience. It didn't match what was posted here too much.

I pop in here every once in a while still hoping for the old enjoyable CB to be back.

Do you know the irony behind the banning of one of those people?

He moderates on a small Disney board where if you so much as sneeze the wrong way, you get banned. He wouldn't post any troublemaking on that board, but for some strange reason, he thought it was all fine and dandy to post anything he felt like here.

He posted "troublemaking." You can interpret that however you want, but it was usually of the "pile-up" variety.

You know when a poster from here is talked about elsewhere, then a bunch of people "pile-up" on a Dis thread to berate that person? It was that.

Trust me. He'd never get away with doing that on Mania.

"Discussing" posts isn't the word for it. Ridiculing, criticizing and badmouthing posters who post on the DIS CB and BB is a more apt phrase. Some try to spin it as harmless, but it's not harmless to the people it's being done to. Hence the bannings, hence the explanation.

Like I said before, these things are cyclical. The DIS will be back to normal probably around the time the kids go back to school.

I see what you are saying, but i know there were a couple of times when I would have loved to say something that would have gotten me in trouble here. I was treated very rudely on a couple of times by a poster I finally learned how to ignore. I guess, that I wouldn't see it being different to post elsewhere about it, as, say, all of the complaining I did to my poor husband! Not meaning to be rude in saying that.

Seriously though, there are a lot of people I miss on the Community Board. I do agree though, that there are still lots of very nice people here (and some people that are not very nice, (just like in real life).

IMO, I think a lot of the fun is missing because many of us are afraid to post something silly, or trivial, or fun, because it may be taken the wrong way. Many times I've deleted something because I was afraid someone would think I was being sarcastic or would get offended, and that was NOT my intention at all.

I don't know how to say it, but there were always threads about what people were doing, their observations on life, threads asking questions that were interesting, people posting links to addicting games , I don't know. It felt more personal. I know these things ebb and flow, but right now we are in a down swing (I feel) and I miss being able to come here and spend an hour (or 2) reading about things that would open my mind or entertain me, or just make me laugh.

I still feel that way about the site.

I do miss some of the people who are gone, but why would anyone want to post personal stuff on here if it was going to get dragged into the gutter elsewhere? I can't blame the owner for taking a stand against it.

I didn't see him in that way at all. In fact, I think he simply had "common sense" posts, not anything cruel. I think the ones who felt "abused" by him were the ones who got a different opinion from him than the one that they wanted to hear. Nice guy. Shame to see him go.

I agree with the OP this CB board is totally different. The posts are not as interesting anymore. Was never into the Clique threads might have read them but wasn't really into them.

I am sure things will go back to normal soon - I hope?

I used to come on here several times a day and could always find something now....maybe a few times a week.

I was a poster, under a different i.d. (moved, lost my email access, etc..), back in the earlier days when folks were just starting to be picked to be moderators.

Used to be that the Budget Board actually stuck to topics (more or less) about saving money at WDW... instead of the "how to spend money" board that it seems to have evolved into -- sorry, BBers, but it has changed significantly in 8 years!

Personally, I find a LOT more venting, more diatribe, more whining, and more snarkiness than in the past here on the DIS.

I'm not YAGEing, but I have started to find myself spending less time on the DISboards as they've become less of a magical place to be.

Because the DIS is full of a lot of stuff I like and a lot of stuff I don't. If I stick to following the rules here, why should it matter what I say to someone away from here?

WOW! I can't believe that happened. I really hate the cliques word though. It makes it come across as something it isn't (well, not usually). For me its just a central place to say hi and catch up with each other. Since there is a group of us its just easier that way. We've had many people pop in and always been happy to have them join in the conversation. Again, we don't move quite as quickly and don't have a bunch of inside jokes and such that would cause some to get lost. Heck, there are days we fall to page 2 or 3. Come by any time and say hello and if you really want to have a blast come join our meet in October!
