*sigh* things have changed so much around here

WOW! I can't believe that happened. I really hate the cliques word though. It makes it come across as something it isn't (well, not usually). For me its just a central place to say hi and catch up with each other. Since there is a group of us its just easier that way. We've had many people pop in and always been happy to have them join in the conversation. Again, we don't move quite as quickly and don't have a bunch of inside jokes and such that would cause some to get lost. Heck, there are days we fall to page 2 or 3. Come by any time and say hello and if you really want to have a blast come join our meet in October! :lmao:

ITA! I don't like the clique word. It implies others are not welcome. Which in most cases is not true.

So, you GET OVER IT so easy when your world is shaken up? Friends, or even acquaintances lost track of? I enjoy the people in my life, even if they are just on a computer screen. And a loss is a loss. If the OP is sad, she has the right to feel that way, and express it.

What is YOUR issue about her expressing it?

My world was not shaken up by the bannings. The OP can be sad, my post was really not about the OP.

I just think it is time to move on. The bannings happened, maybe some should have not been banned, I really didn't know most of them. My point is that we can not change it, we have two choices stay or go. I choose to stay.

I think the feel is much less friendly. Seems to me that I could disagree or agree with people before and not be called a mob or a minion. I like discussing. I like hearing the ideas of others. But it has gotten weird here lately.

Couldn't agree more.

And there are a chosen few who can say anything and never get points. This certainly adds to the unwelcome feeling that never used to be a part of this site.

...IMO, I think a lot of the fun is missing because many of us are afraid to post something silly, or trivial, or fun, because it may be taken the wrong way. Many times I've deleted something because I was afraid someone would think I was being sarcastic or would get offended, and that was NOT my intention at all.

I've done the same.

I don't care for the clique threads. I tried joining one labeled "handbags" and I was kindly told I wasn't welcome because it was an older clique.

Kinda put me off on cliques but I have looked for some of interest to me to no avail.

But...but...but..."Handbag" is practically your middle name (yeah, I know, it's really your first name, but *still*...!) Maybe it's just that particular clique thread and maybe someone was feeling snarky that day?
Sorry about your experience and better luck next time.

"Discussing" posts isn't the word for it. Ridiculing, criticizing and badmouthing posters who post on the DIS CB and BB is a more apt phrase. Some try to spin it as harmless, but it's not harmless to the people it's being done to. Hence the bannings, hence the explanation.

Like I said before, these things are cyclical. The DIS will be back to normal probably around the time the kids go back to school.

Not everyone who was banned participated in any of those posts (in fact, the vast majority didn't) - that's why people are so upset. Funny, but I don't remember you posting before the bannings, so I'm curious as to what your version of normal is.

I always try to assume that everything is not about me. I think empathy is a positive quality, frankly.

I thought you asked me a question. :confused3 Empathy is a positive quality, but why would you think I don't have empathy just because my world was not shaken up by some bannings on a public forum?

Maybe you hadn't noticed but the thread became more about the changes on the CB than about the OP's feelings. But hey if you're having a bad day and trying to make me feel bad makes you feel better than go for it, I can take it.

The CB always get slow in the Summer. The weekends are always dead once it gets warm out.

The clique threads do knock small threads off the first page very fast...lets send them to the other board where the games were sent.

I would have no problem with that. I wish it was that way actually.

Because the DIS is full of a lot of stuff I like and a lot of stuff I don't. If I stick to following the rules here, why should it matter what I say to someone away from here?

Very good question.

Do you have any idea how many times I've suggested that myself? :lmao:

Why are so many posts being deleted?

After I read this, I went back to read the explanation from the webmasters about the bannings. I just wanted to refresh my memory of what I understood the whole thing to be about.

If I may ask you a question, how do you know what they are talking about? According to the explanation, "sideline spectators" can be banned also. Are you reading over there but not posting? I just don't understand how you can report how they are posting these horrible things unless you are reading over there too. Isn't that technically against what was stated in the explanation? :confused3

I used to keep logging in here from work and getting caught up in discussions and not getting my work done! That doesn't happen much anymore, so something has changed. I can scan the first page or two, read a few interesting-looking threads, and leave, within a few minutes.

Part of it too is that I just don't feel like investing too much in this board, because it's just too unstable in its membership base and enforcement of rules. I'm just not comfortable putting too much of myself out there on this board anymore, and that wasn't always the case.

The difference may be kind of subtle, but it's there.

Makes sense to me too.

I don't know if I was involved in this or not, but I am wondering where all of my stored PM's went? They are all missing and I know that I didn't delete them. Apparently the post I started asking where my deleted PM's were was deleted also. What is the problem? Why was it deleted and not responded to, if even by PM.
