Maybe it is me, but I don't feel as at home here as I used to. Are people staying away after the "incident" or are things just changing as things are wont to do? On page one I counted 19 big clique threads. Maybe if I joined one of them I would feel more at home, but that has never been how I have done things. I always loved the little threads. I have learned so much about all different aspects of life in the US and many other places.
Sorry if I am bumming you out, if anyone is reading this, I just feel nostalgic for the "old days".

I'll agree things are different, but I think one reason for the lack of "little threads" may be due to all the election banter.

I'm a firm believer that:

If you post it - they will come.

I've been thinking the same thing. I have tried to start threads on friday and saturday nights, to have some fun. and they just die. Even on weekdays.

I guess the best/funniest people are gone.

:wave2:

I think it's a been a gradual change to a different place. I miss the old CB too :worried:

me too. i didn't used to post a lot but i always read the CB. There has been a definite change in the mood of this board. i too miss the old days.

It's diff now - I don't post half as much as I used to and it's not my go-to place anymore.

I have started 2 threads recently and no one has come.

:(

I still come here every day, I have been here since before the big crash when we lost our post counts, when there was just one board, but things sure have slowed down.

I don't think it has changed that much. Some times I come here and find a lot of threads that interest me, other times not many. But than I don't belong to any of the clique threads, they just move to fast for me.

I don't think all the best people are gone, maybe funny ones, but there are still some really great posters here.

I guess the CB can be whatever you want it to be. Maybe nothing goes on Sat. nights because it is summer and people are out having fun instead of sitting in front of their computers.

There's an ebb and flow - the same types of things were said three/four years ago. And there's always been the complaint about too many clique threads.

So, nope - nothing has changed.

Maybe we need a clique for the ones from the ancient days..

Those are so hard to keep up with for me though; I agree with Sonya I like the smaller threads on specific topics.

Although the clique threads have been increasing there really weren't any in the very early days; I don't find that the DIS is the same place at all. I wonder how much I'll be visiting after our Aug WDW trip.

I'm pretty new, so I don't know how things were in the "old days". I will say that a I don't understand the purpose of some of these clique" threads, the post counts are huge and it is intimidating.

What was the "incident"?

Sorry I didn't see you!! I'm always looking for a thread to fill with my nonsense.
I usually look for small post counts, but then I'm only here in the evenings - and can't make it every night -
but hang in there and...

PLEASE DON'T FLUSH!!!!!!!!!!!

There was a thread, locked of course, that explained there was a rogue alternate message board. People who were found posting there were asked to leave here and/or were banned for some reason. Details are/were sketchy. Some really, really cool posters were banned, especially Jenny in R.I. I don't know what they did wrong, however, to get banned.

And I hope I don't get into trouble, but the info was posted by a moderator here.

Ironic, isn't it? This posted on the day an anti-authoritarian guy like George Carlin is being celebrated for pushing the envelop on the First Amendment which, of course we all know, applies only to Government actions.

I don't think things are the same around here either. I never really posted on the CB much except for my little group of friends that had the same interests as me (yes, I guess you could call it clique thread). But there were plenty of posters that I looked for because they offered a dffering opinion about things. I never found any of them to be "bad" people. They just offered a different point of view. And though I never really chatted with any of them, I knew if I needed a hand to hold through something horrible, they would be there to offer it. That's what I miss.

There were fun threads, each with their own topic, like pooh watch etc... THreads like that are not against the DIS rules.

They used to be fast enough to stay on top of the clique threads on page one. Now it seems like no one is interested in having fun.
