sick and tired of reading bad things

OP, you really should check out the Trip Reports board. You'll get lots of good advice and tips from reading about others' trips and most. Tr writers are happy to answer any planning questions that come up. You will have a fun trip. The upside for you is you don't have any memories of the previous system to color your upcoming trip. Make your plans and enjoy!

yet all i read on here is BAD things
If you look carefully, you'll find that most of the "BAD things" are coming from a relatively small number of people. It's hard to keep that in perspective, but reports from people who are in the parks suggest that most seem to still be having perfectly fine times on their vacations.

And you will too---especially if you go into it with a positive attitude.

I can understand how you feel and am sorry to hear this. I'd encourage you to start threads of interest to you here, and you'll find those who are interested in discussions other than those of FP+/MBs. Also, like mentioned above, consider visiting other forums here on The DIS like the Trip Reports forum or even The DIS Unplugged. You might find what you're looking for there. :)

To the OP and all first timers going to WDW:

We old timers need your help!

Many like myself enjoyed WDW the way it was. It was easy to plan and have fun when we have done it so many times in the past. Newbies can help in a couple of ways: First, you need to report back tips and hints on how to make the new system work for maximum vacation value. Second, you need to report back on how much fun you had at WDW. You might just bring back the magic for those like me who are somewhat upset at all the changes. :)

Yes, just us few BAD people posting all the BAD things. :rolleyes1

OP, another good place for "happy thoughts" is the "Doing the Happy Dance" forum.

This just reminded me of my DBIL's comment on his one and only trip. They went Memorial Day weekend, stayed in a rental house, only went for the long weekend, I think only went to MK, and complained about all the standing in lines. He had no advice from me (I was willing to give it, but he didn't want it) and no plan at all. For just a weekend, they refused to stay on site. Nope, they wanted to be able to cook. Yes, I understand and last trip was 15 nights for us so I did cook a lot of simple things, but for a weekend I wouldn't bother.

It is what you make of it! We plan ahead to avoid too many lines, or if one park seems to be getting crowded or we've had enough, we park hop. I don't think it's worth waiting an hour to meet Mickey - although he's cool.

Sorry to rant but it's annoying when I've been so many times, and family doesn't even want advice. They don't know why we like it there!

This sort of ties into my earlier point. You can dismiss discussions about long lines, etc. as negativity or you can take advantage of those discussions to figure out ways to not be standing IN those long lines. Avoiding the "negativity" will make it worse in the long run if you go in blind and have a miserable time because you are stuck in those long lines.

And let's be honest... there is only one topic (FP+) that is really the subject of any negative threads/posts. And, as someone said earlier, we "negative" posters are not Disney-haters. We LOVE Disney. Which is why we have strong opinions about FP+. If you want to avoid "negativity" just don't open any thread with FP+ in the subject line.

I agree.

Sorry about the negative posts ruining your excitement, OP... but once you're there, don't even think about it. Plan a little, do what you want to do, and you'll have a great time. :)

I can kind of sympathize with the OP. Since the whole MDE/FP+ transition started, there has been a lot more negativity on the board. Sometimes you start reading a thread about how someone liked FP+ and you get to page two and it goes downhill fast. Or threads that have nothing to do with FP+ get hijacked and no longer discuss the original topic.

I know part of it is that people are resistant to change. I know that part of it is that people will be forced to change if they want to continue visiting WDW. I know part of it has been the frustration of the testing process (growing pains, for lack of a better term) and the changes made daily during that time. I know it doesn't seem fair and it may cause some people to vacation elsewhere. But it would be nice if we could see more posts about how to maximize your day working within the new boundaries - to me that is what strategy is all about. We should be sharing our tips on how to make the new systems work more efficiently, because the new systems are here to stay. Disney may tweak it a little here and there, but basically we just have to adapt and move on, or go elsewhere.

I've been going to WDW since 1971. I've seen a lot of things come and go. Some were great, some not so great. But the one thing you can always count on is nothing will stay the same.

Good Post! Good Points! :thumbsup2

Good Post, Good Points and Well Said, I have to agree :)

.

Nothing I read can spoil the Magic I feel whenever I go to Disney World. And I don't let the "You're going there AGAIN!" Boo Birds take the shine off either. We're going again in April. And tomorrow morning first thing I will be booking next Dec. trip at BLT.

I agree. And actually many of us are trying to develop and share such strategies. But one of the biggest frustrations is that the rules are changing almost daily, so there really is no way to devise a feasible plan at the moment.

You may accuse me of "fearing change" but I'll disagree with the bolded. If FP+ turns out to be a disaster, there is a chance (however slim) that it could be dumped or at least changed to the point where it doesn't resemble its current form at all.

you will have a fantastic time at Disney World. it is the most magical place on Earth and I look at it this way.....All these negative people complaining about the new systems will hopefully stop going to Disney and then there's less lines for me (thats a quote from the guys on the actual Dis Unplugged Podcast)

~QFT! OP, you're taking all of the negative stuff to heart. Some of those who are opposed to FP+ and Magic Bands are fighting a losing battle. Their "doom and gloom" predictions just never seem to materialize, lol. :lmao:

~Animal Kingdom was supposed to go up in smoke a little while back, right? Didn't happen. There was no way FP+ could work *at all* during the Christmas and New Years holiday -- everything supposedly would be in turmoil and Christmas and New Years would be ruined for everyone, right? Well, that didn't happen either. And, before that, there were so many other things. I can write a book on how many rumors, I've seen go up in smoke! It's really hilarious.

~Truth is, some people will never be happy with this, so you can't allow that to pull your energy down. I've been following the developments for years, ever since the first day news broke and one thing is certain, there will be another new "negative" piece of speculation that will never materialize. They just keep soldiering on, it's really hilarious. So, don't take it to heart.

~People have a right to "complain," so just let them. You just have to do a little more work to find the actual facts and there is plenty of positive stuff here.

~I used the old dated fp and I don't miss it one bit. We're commando's and arrive at the park bright and early to seize the day & night! I love magic bands and fp+ and have no desire to use the legacy fp! The sooner it's gone, the better as far as I'm concerned.

~I am *so* excited about the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train! OP, you are going to be among the first lucky people to experience this brand new attraction! It has been so long since Disney has built something of this magnitude. For me, it really is exciting! :cool1:

~I need a vacation so bad, I wish I could go in six months! But, I'm going to Disney again this year, so I'm excited. So just get happy and dance to the happy song. ~Happy Lyric Video~ ~Happy (real video)~

~Ironically, its from Universal but the message is 'universal' (pun intended, lol) :rotfl: and applies to anyone who just wants to be happy! I hope you have a fabulous and fun time at Disney in June! :cool1:

Haven't read through all the responses but to OP, just know that you are going to the happiest place on earth and completely ignore any posts you deem negative. Skip right over them! I don't think people are intentionally trying to be negative. There have been issues with the magic bands and this is an open forum where people discuss the good and the bad. Have a beautiful trip and just take with you all of the information you learned on here to maximize your trip and don't read into (literally) what you think is too much complaining, etc. Have fun on your trip!

Nice save on quickly editing your inflammatory post. ;)

Do you remember the first magical time you went to Disneyworld???
How you felt when you saw the castle???
When you got that picture with Mickey mouse???

I dont.... ive never been!!

But im going in six months, yet all i read on here is BAD things, for someone who hasnt been the new FP system wont affect me, ive been to disneyland and NEVER had more than 2 FP a day. Im excited about the magic bands, if there are teething problems so be it.

I come on here with excitement, wanting to read magical things, yet even the posts that you think are good end up slating Disney. We along with hundreds of others have saved for years to be able to travel to Disney.

SO THANK YOU for the posts slagging the place off, thank you for the im never going back disney posts, thanks for the magic bands are rubbish, my magical experience is rubbish posts...... your making me SO excited for my trip. your making me glad im spending thousands of pounds and dreamed of this moment for years.

TO THE MODS/ADMIN

Maybe one place where people can talk about the bad stuff so people who dont want to read it dont stumble across it
