sick and tired of reading bad things

The problem lately is that there are too many negative posts from people that have not even been there to try out the MB/FP+.

And to the OP, I love disney, been there twice with MB and FP+ and can't wait to go back no matter what system they are using. You will have a great time.

And with this, we have once again come full circle.

One thing that I'm NOT complaining about is your attempt at satire. It was quite good IMO. :thumbsup2

Even more so if you're "in" on the inside joke. ;)

We asked the mods months ago to move all the FP+/MB/MDE discussions to a separate board, but everyone seems to feel that they're so critical to an effective Theme Park Strategy (that IS the name of the board) that they needed to stay. Please realize you're immersed in thousands of years of WDW experience on this board, and you probably came here for tips and tricks on how to get the most out of your WDW experience. Wouldn't you say that you're much better informed about potential issues you might experience during your upcoming visit than if you had stuck to threads on how wonderful the detail in the Fantasyland Expansion?

Bolding mine.

What I don't get is why this can't become a sub-thread for the time being. I wish it could just be a sticky, but with things changing so much, it would be counterproductive. Heck, even just merging all FP+/FP- stuff to ONE thread, like the Cake Chatter thread, would be better.

Sorry to rant but it's annoying when I've been so many times, and family doesn't even want advice. They don't know why we like it there!

We know this well. BIL and his family planned to go and us being the Disney freaks wanted to help. Oh NO! They knew better. They did not want our help and did not plan at all. Surprise Surprise, they did not enjoy themselves and never want to go back. :faint:

So I completely understand.

I think merging all FP+ topics into one thread would be chaos. There are just too many diverse FP+ threads out there. But I agree that creating a sub-forum would be a good idea. This would serve several purposes.

Those who don't want "negativity" could stay away from that area. Because, let's be honest, FP+ discussions are the source of all the negativity.

It would also "tidy up" the TPA&S board, making it easier to find FP+ info since it would all be in one place. There are so many FP+ threads and they are mixed in with other topics, making it difficult to sift through everything (whether you are looking for a FP+ thread or trying to avoid them).

I dont know why you cant skip over them. I dont do the DDP, so I skip over those threads. It is an easy concept.

Not as easy as you think. When some label their threads things like "Here Now..." or "Why does it have to be like this?" or "I'm in love!" you click them thinking it might be about a character, or an event upcoming like MNSSHP, or maybe the weather. Instead they're all FP/MM/MDE whining posts. It's awful, and leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

The real problem isn't so much the volume, it's that a large fraction of the discussion is baseless rumor and speculation. That can be fun---I play along often---but it doesn't really help anyone actually plan a vacation.

A thread/sticky/sub-board that tracks actual changes would be great, because things are changing quickly, but it would be tough to keep it to "just the facts."

Yes, exactly my thoughts. Thank you. :) You just can't avoid them anymore on here! I've seen them pop up just about everywhere but the Creative Community Board. /shudder

The problem is that any REAL new information is lost in the same old FP+ complaints. It is hard for a new user to sort through what is someone's biased dislike for the FP+ system vs what is actually going on. These threads turn unwieldy quickly many of them turning into 10+ pages of the same debates since FP+ was first rumored.

One only have to look at a new FP+ thread to know that the following things will most likely be said by the same people:

1. FP+ is ride rationing. Now, this is not helpful to any overall strategy.
2. Disney needs to build more attractions instead of rolling out FP+. Again, not helpful for anyone trying to plan or build a strategy
3. Disney is rolling out FP+ to create fairness among the larger majority of guests. Again, this is unfounded opinion, not helpful.
4. Universal is better than Disney. OK, how is this helpful to those looking to deal with the new FP+ changes.
5. Disney is punishing their most loyal fans with FP+. Maybe so, but again, a matter of opinion. Not helpful
6. "FP+ may be great for YOU!! But not for the way I tour". Granted, but not helpful.
7. FP+ system is an abject failure. Again, opinion.
8. "I am done with Disney". Great, be done with it!
9. Tiering Sucks. Not helpful to make up songs and post tears for fears pictures about it.
10. 3 FP+s are not enough.
11. etc, etc, etc....

The helpfulness of any FP+ actual news and strategy is being cluttered up by the same people having the same argument but perhaps over different facets of the FP+ system.

Again, it makes it hard for new user to 1. know what to believe. 2. Even search out pertinent information that separates opinion from fact.

The FP+ system may be the greatest failure ever but unless Disney scraps it or even improves upon it, it looks like it is here to stay.

I think the open discussions are necessarily going to continue to be largely speculative. That can't be avoided because the system is in a state of flux and Disney is largely keeping us in the dark. But a locked sticky updated by a Mod that tracks the current state of FP+ would be a very beneficial tool.

One more thing. It doesnt help that even threads started by people asking about a certain attraction but not about FP+ system, all of a sudden turn into an FP+ debate because certain posters cant resist taking another shot at the FP+ system.

Not helpful in the least to anyone except to those that love to vent with each other over the system

A lot of this could be avoided if Disney was more upfront about their plans. I believe that a lot of the anxiety and criticism comes from people not knowing what to expect and that's a bad feeling when you're trying to plan an expensive vacation.

Quoted for truth.

Disney is one of the most paternalistic companies I can think of. They have never, and probably will never, be candid about this sort of thing. Would it be nice? Yes. But it is unlikely to happen.

Do you remember the first magical time you went to Disneyworld???
How you felt when you saw the castle???
When you got that picture with Mickey mouse???

I dont.... ive never been!!

But im going in six months, yet all i read on here is BAD things, for someone who hasnt been the new FP system wont affect me, ive been to disneyland and NEVER had more than 2 FP a day. Im excited about the magic bands, if there are teething problems so be it.

I come on here with excitement, wanting to read magical things, yet even the posts that you think are good end up slating Disney. We along with hundreds of others have saved for years to be able to travel to Disney.

SO THANK YOU for the posts slagging the place off, thank you for the im never going back disney posts, thanks for the magic bands are rubbish, my magical experience is rubbish posts...... your making me SO excited for my trip. your making me glad im spending thousands of pounds and dreamed of this moment for years.

My advice - and what works for me??

Either stay off the Dis, or read 'very' few threads. I have been going to Disney since MK opened in 1971 and it 'sickens' me what people constantly complain and gripe about.

No, Disney isn't perfect and I don't expect it, but we have ALWAYS had a wonderful trip when we go (and we've been many times).

I have never met a 'rude' CM and have never had any problems with guest services (sorry, actually once, but was quickly resolved). I meet CM's with a good attitude and a smile, and that has always been returned. We love the food (oh my, the horrors - and we do know what dining at very nice restaurants are all about - some are 'hit and miss').

So, I ignore all the naysayers/gripers/complainers and enjoy Disney to the fullest. You can 'never' please some people. There's a lot of 'me'ism' these days wherever you go.

Yes, I probably should :duck: about now, but that won't bother me either - I'm just looking forward to my next pixiedust: vacation.

Hope you have a great first trip, and if you adjust your attitude about listening to all the negativity, you 'will'. ::yes::

The link in my signature contains a great deal of the historical information about FP+. I update the latest news releases.

But to be fair conjecture is important for future planning to decide if wdw is still the best option, if universal is a better option, and whether people should find other places. I am fortunate enough to be able to travel to Europe each year cheaply - and continue my march through exploring all 50 states, and slip in trips to Florida. I had so much fun in Tampa last summer, I am finding it more difficult to give that up. I might have to settle for Busch Gardens.

So far NikkiBell hasn't convinced me that MBs are an improvement for me, although I love her overflowing enthusiasm. :)

Actually if you want to fall in love with wdw, read those trip reports. Missyrose is juggling three right now, and those photos are amazing!

OP, I agree with 100%.

I'm so sick of the complaining. It's starting to sound like a bunch of entitled, spoiled brats around here. Talk about first world problems.:furious:

I really try to ignore the buzz killers. But sometimes you can't tell by the title that the poster is about to whine about the changes.

Even when Disney does release info, you have a chorus of people on here that do not believe what they say. Now, they may have good reason for it based on past experience but no matter how upfront Disney is, people will criticize them no matter what. It is not simply a matter of Disney being upfront but people resistant to a change they see as a net negative.

Then you have those small percentage of posters that seem to just "rag" on Disney at every turn.

Some could (and probably will) read your post as negative too. You are clearly criticizing quite a few DISers and whether that's deserved or not, that is how your comments will likely be taken.

I personally can't help what other people say but I know that it would have made my planning easier to know more about what is going on. I don't ever see Disney releasing much info to begin with and they've been almost silent on the topic of FP+. I can only say thank goodness for the websites that somehow find out about these things.

Yeah, totally! First world problems!

Let's get back to talking about real problems, like how upset people are about missing out on BoG ADRs and how much souvenir money people should bring to WDW.

I agree, conjecture may be important but remember that even the most seasoned Disney vet is not right 100% and people will often trust conjecture
that turns out to be false that ends up negatively affecting them. Every speculation on both sides of this issue has not come to pass.

I agree, people need to make informed decisions on how to spend their vacation dollar but rumors and speculations often lead people to make less informed decision. It is ironic but its true.

I am not looking for all rainbows and sunshine about Disney but the same discussion and debates over and over again have stopped being effective for anyone a long time ago but for the fact that people can vent with each other
