My husband and I stayed at Shutters last March for our 15th anniversary. We absolutely loved it and were very pleased with the service. When we arrived and went to our room, the door lock didn't work and they fixed it and we left and came back and it didn't work. They "locked" us in for the night and moved us into a swanky suite the next day because there wasn't anything available that night. They worked with us the whole time and were very friendly and never seemed put out. I highly recommend staying there on points. I'd do it again in a heartbeat!
We are looking to stay in July, just before a visit down to the Grand Californian. It looks so beautiful and great location! Thanks for the positive review -- now I am really getting excited!!
My DH and I have stayed at Shutters a couple of times and loved it! We also stayed at the Grand Califorian and loved that to. Shutters is right on the beach and a lovely peaceful place. I cannot wait to go back.
I'd be interested in staying there, but it costs *so many* points. I don't think I could bring myself to use that many points for it, especially when I consider that I need to spend the $75 booking fee on top of all those points.
Well, everyone's situation is unique. This year, for a variety of reasons, the trip to California will be our primary vacation -- our best opportunity to use our points (though we will still bank some for next year). And I really really wanted to stay right on the beach -- using my points, not paying cash. So Shutters seemed like a great option. I had been there for drinks and already knew that it was beautiful and had a unique location -- I couldn't find a location and amenities like that for any price simply because the beach space is at such a premium in that part of Santa Monica. (And I want to be near the shops, restaurants and pier). Also, look at the rack rate for Shutters -- about $500/night this time of year! I never could/would afford that! But using the points allows me this fantastic little indulgence and, in our case, we will still have enough points left over for the other things that we want to do this year and next. So, for us, the point structure is fine. I was actually expecting it to be more, considering (again) the reputation, location, etc. By way of comparison, we are also going to Big Cedar Lodge iin MS in August for a getaway with extended family and they want 69 points per night for a two bedroom cabin (we will need the bigger digs to accomodate family). Shutters only wants about 50 points a night (if you can live without a view).
But, again, to each their own. I am am THRILLED about having SHutters on the list and about out stay. Many many thanks to everyone who responded!!
