Showing up at Le Cellier with 3 when the ADR is for 2?

A kind fellow diser transfered a Le Cellier ressie to me that they weren't going to use. I thought it was for a party of 3, but it turns out (after it's been transfered) that it's for two. I know that calling Disney isn't going to help me because they have so many tables allotted for each party size. If I show up with a third person do you think that will throw off their system badly? Will the wait be long for us? Would they just flat out turn us away?

It's been such a rollar coaster today! I was so excited, and now I'm not sure I've made any progress at all!

Thanks for any insight you can give.

Party of two here - sat @ a booth that could could have accomodated a third person  ... That's all I can add. :rolleyes1

You know, it just struck me...we've dined at many places that require dinner reservations, all over the country, and only at Disney have I ever worried about party size unless it was over 6 people.

I know I'll probably get flamed, but honestly, if Disney can't accommodate an extra person, that doesn't say much for customer service.

If it were me, I'd check in a little early just in case they do have to juggle a little, but I'd still do it.

This is a downsize & so it may not apply, but I made our ADRs for 7 originally & then we ended up being 5. I called to change them & the CM told me that you have to cancel an ADR & re-book to change the party size and I would lose some of my best ADR's for sure and recommended that we just keep the ADR for 7. So we're still listed as a party of 7 at three places and the CM said it was no problem at all since it was less than 2 people.

It's not a matter of customer service. The most popular WDW restaurants (like Le Cellier) are often completely booked. If there are people sitting at all of the tables for 4 when you arrive, there's not anything that they can do but ask you to wait. And depending on how long those folks plan to stay at their table, you may be waiting for a long time.

Absolutely right. This restaurant is VERY popular. I had a solo ressie, was seated at a two top. Three would not have been an option at that table. When you ask the restaurant to change you to a 4 top, it may well not be possible. It's not that they don't want to help you, it's that it's highly likely the 4 top you want is already reserved. They might let you wait, but they also might not.

wer had a reservation for two in April and our inlaws decided to join us .......they only HAD that one table for two and not for four.....the twosome table is small enough for a plate and the salad and the holder for the breadsticks...I would call and see if there are any extras but dont take a chance....

DH and myself had called for dinner ressies and were told we could only get lunch ressies at 2:50pm for October ,never had a problem before this will be our first lunch @ le Cellier....DS decided last week to go with us and when I called to switch it for a table of 3 I was told they could not accomidate 3 of us at 2:50pm but could seat 3 of us at 2:20 pm? only 1/2 hour difference but we had to take it....

LC for lunch is awesome! FYI they will make the BBQ filet for you at lunch

I asked DD about this a while back. She's a hostess in a busy restaurant and handles their computerized reservations system. The problem is that most restaurants have a set number of tables for each party size: 2 top (seats 2), 4 top, 6 top, etc. If you are a party of 5 it's no biggie to add another person. You'll still be using the same type table (a 6 top). If you're a party of 2 or 4 and want to add a person you'll have to bump up to the next size table which may not be available, especially at a busy place like Le Cellier.

On our last trip We made all of our ADR's for 3 but the cast member messed up and only input 2 people in their system for about 1/2 of our ADR's. We stopped by guest relations and was told it wouldn't be a problem. Just let the cast member at the restaurant know when you check in. She was right it was not a problem.

If guest relations were to change them they would need to be cancelled and reintered in the system most likely loosing your ADR's

I had the same circumstances. A diser transferred thier Le Cellier reservations to my name but it was for a party of 3. We are a party of 4. Maybe I just got lucky but I called 407-939-3463 and told them what happened. They said no problem and they upped the reservation to a party of 4. Same confirmation number, etc... This was after me trying to get a reservation at Le Cellier for weeks to no avial so I know that there wasn't additonal availablity. I would at least call and ask. If they can't do it for you then do the walk up with three but for me calling worked out really well.

I also called yesterday to reconfirm all of our reservations and they were all in place correctly.

hey i cant believe we didnt double check that. I say take the chance, worst that can happen is that they make you wait a little longer. So maybe try to check in earlier. I also like a PP said, have sat in 4 tops at le cellier and we have always been two. So i guess it depends.

Hey, I can't believe we didn't check that either! Don't worry, though, I won't let it go to waste. I'll use it or make sure it gets passed on! Thanks again!

I called today and asked if they would switch it to 3 and no dice. Hmm... I'm still in a quandry!

That's because the party of 3 already was sitting at a four-top, there are no tables specifically for three people. So another person made no difference.

If the OP has been put in for seating a two-top, the third person is going to be out of luck.

As to just showing up with a different number of people than the ADR, I wouldn't recommend it. Last year my son wasn't feeling well so I stayed in the room with him while the rest of our party went to Le Cellier. The hostess was fairly put out about it even though the party was smaller not bigger, so I was told.

Oh NO!!!:headache: I just realized that all of my ARs are for 7 and now my SIL is not going so we will only be a party of 4. I got the perfect ADRs in May for my Nov. trip. Please don't tell me I will have to call and rebook!!!!:scared:

We're going in September and find ourselves in the same situation - had ressies for 7 people when now there's only 4 of us going. I called Disney Dining and told them the situation. I didn't want to lose the ADRs that we had by rebooking. She said that it's no problem to show up with fewer people. Just show up with your party of 4. It happens all the time. :)

As for showing up with an extra person - my DSis had ressies at Le Cellier on Saturday for 2 people. They showed up with a 3rd person and it was no problem accommodating them. I wouldn't think this would be as easy to do during the free dining promotion, though. OP, I would probably see if they could accommodate me, but prepare myself to be turned away.
