I don't see the link or anything, and I noticed the same thing wrt grover's post in another thread (maybe the contest?--sorry, I can't remember which one).

hmmm..i can see the pic! strange!

i am linking from my blog..so if it is acting up (wouldn't be the first time) perhaps it doesn't show at times..who knows!

I'll share my boyfriend's amazing ability to capture me at my best (I am in love with this picture... how many women can say that?)

Hmmm. . . . if I look at it in IE instead of Firefox, then I get the box with the little red x in it, but in Firefox, it looks like nothing is there at all except the text. :badpc:

Hello, I'm new to the photo board, but this is becoming one of my "look for new threads first" places on DISboards.

As I'm new here, I'm also new at any type of photography other than using an antique, 2.2MP, PnS Kodak. I recently purchased a Canon S3 for our upcoming WDW trip to try to capture more than the "tourist with a disposable" type shots. I love B&W shots, and I knew of a place I wanted to give it a try... a log cabin in the woods.

So here it is, my first B&W shot ever:

bw_ky_cabin.jpg

I like the way B&W gives the cabin more of the "rustic" look, even though the cabin is less than 10 years old.

We will soon to be staying at Port Orleans Riverside, in the Magnolia Bend section and I plan to experiment more with B&W on the plantation mansions. Hopefully I come up with something "above average".

I am still just starting out with this photography thing and playing with the camera. Its getting better!

hmm..i have explorer..it works okay.
but now that ya'll mention it..when i am at work i can't always see all the pics-never really questioned it..but now i guess it depends on what prgm they use to surf the web!

all my pics are my blog www.grooveygrover.blogspot.com

so what are you guys using to host your pics?

i developed some rolls at home on the weekend. since we've been discussing 'what to do with old negatives...' i thought i'd post a few examples in this thread. here are examples from different cameras on different stocks

this is an old, expired roll of xp2, which is a 'b&w' film developed using traditional c41 colour process. i took the opportunity to cross process in d76 (true b&w developer) based on some suggestions at digitaltruth.com. since the roll was pretty old, it has some roll creases. the photo is of a guy arguing with a city ranger - trying to get out of a parking ticket. '...i did not... park... for very long...'

Mamiya 7ii | 80 4.0 L - 6cm x 7cm - xp2, developed in d76

this one is 35mm tmax 400. it's just a glass block window with some graffiti.

sevara is still trying to come to terms with cameras that don't show pictures on the back.
after i had taken a shot of her on the holga (a ridicously cheap medium format camera made of plastic - no settings, no metre, guestimate focus, etc. - known for vignetting and light leaks), she asked to see the photo on the back of the camera. when i told her this camera doesn't do it, she responded with 'why?...' , so i snapped another photo :)

Here's one I was thinking of using for the cover of a photo album for our recent trip, but I can't decide until I waste many more hours playing with the other 600 pictures I took. Maybe if I stay here on the computer those Christmas decorations will put themselves up. :teeth:

Love the cat picture Kmadams--nice use of selective coloring.

Firefox (and the other Mozilla browsers) do not show you when a photo is not able to be loaded. I believe that they will show a "broken" image if a picture has its size specified, though, because that is often necessary to keep a layout from being broken.

If there's any question, you can right-click and go to Page Info, and the Media tab will show you all the pictures, Flash scripts, sound, and video that the page has.

Grover's images are probably just set to not allow hot-linking. They must be loaded on their own, not as part of a page on a different site.

Nice shots here... I just went through my film last night and have a couple rolls of B/W 400 and a roll of T-Max 3200 to take to WDW in a few weeks, so if all goes well, I'll come back with some "real" b/w photos. In a couple minutes I'm heading out to drop off the roll I finished last night to make sure that the old camera is still working like I expect it to...
