Should the price of the DDP be raised so that the quality can return?

What price should the DDP be raised to?

  • $60.00 - This would allow fantastic menu options.

  • $50.00 - This would allow most of the old menus to return.

  • $45.00 - This would allow a few extras to be brought back.

  • Keep it the same price. It does reduce non DDP options but it benefits more then it hurts.

  • Keep it the same price. Everything is fine as it is. Non DDP people need to accept it.

I'm new to the dining plan. I am using it for the first time the next trip, having before always just paid seperate with no package.

I just want to know what the deal is with menus. Are some entres restricted? Are there only certain foods at certain restaurants I can get? If so can I see a menu of the restricted menus?

Thanks.

You can order anything off of the TS menus off of the DDP, excluding alchohol and specialty drinks. I have heard OCCASIONALLY a restaurant will have an unlisted add-on that is additional as well, but I don't think I've seen an example at all recently. The only items that tend to be restricted are snack credits, but there is still a huge variety and they are clearly marked before ordering.

I'd actually prefer NO dining plan!

I liked it better when the table service restaurants were not crowded and you could relax and have a great meal at the same time.

Of course this assumes that quality has dropped as so many people say.

Since the DDP people and the non DDP people argue so much over the effects of the DDP I was thinking the solution would be to increase the cost of the DDP so that the restaurants can afford to serve both DDP people and non DDP people the higher priced menus.

Sounds good to me. I voted $60. We **might** try DDP again if they raised the prices at least that high. We just returned from 8 nights at OKW and on the DDP. OKW was fantastic, but the DDP was just beyond lousy. I can't believe what has happened to some of the restaurants that we used to love! We're going to cook in our own DVC unit on all of the trips in the forseeable future, unless the quality returns at Disney restaurants. At least I know that I like my own cooking.

There's always a dining plan - just not one that is as afforable and attractive to so many customers. Sometimes I too long for the days of silver wishes and food and fun credits when almost no one used the dining plans available - that is when the restaurants weren't as crowded.

Wasn't there something during free dining that allowed you to exchange a table service meal for something else?

I know I wouldn't exchange a table service for counter service, if I were on the plan.

But, if I could exchange 1 table service for 2 counter meals, I might. Some days it just might be more convenient, especially if I'm spending the day at Animal Kingdom (I like their CS, and I'm not a big fan of RFC, for example). I could get b'fast (CS), then 2 CS at Animal Kingdom.

My kids are older, so the character buffets don't appeal to them much. Since they don't get alot of fast food, they really LIKE counter service!

I know it probably wouldn't work, but that would be something I'd trade for. Maybe it would help some of the overcrowding at TS, also.

During free dinning you could exchange 1 TS for 1 CS and either 2 snacks or 1snack and a gift (I think it was a lanyard).

Even before free dining, some of the hotel front desks were willing to convert TS credits into CS credits (one-for-one, no snacks, no lanyard), with the understand that the guest accepted that there was no way to change their mine later and convert them back.
