I was planning on waiting until the end of March to join DVC to have a larger down payment. I want to go the week after Thanksgiving 2005 in a 2 bedroom and it doesn't really matter which resort I stay at since it'll be my first DVC experience. I would try to book my home, which would be SSR if I go ahead and join, but if I wait, will I have any problems at that time for booking at the 7-month window? Thanks in advance!

Not sure about buying now verse buying in March, but I will say to watch the prices. DVC price keeps going up, and if you don't pay attention it's bound to go up right before you buy. They are good at announcing in advance when the price will increase, so I just say, watch it closely.

I assume that you are going to finance your purchase. the odds are great that, along with DVC prices increasing, so will interest rates. Both the federal deficit and the trade deficit are very bad omens.

If you choose to buy into SSR now, DVC is offering no payments and no accrued interest on the purchase until May '05. So, you could pay what you are able now and still make additional payments in the spring before any intereest has accumulated.

If you have your heart set on Thanksgiving '05, it might be prudent to move forward now. In addition to the possibility of price increases, you also need to factor in the reality that it will be much more difficult to book at stay around Thanksgiving if you wait until the Spring. That is a very high demand period. It probably won't be impossible to get a 2B at 5 or 6 months out, but you won't have many choices of resort and may have to rely on the waitlist to get all of the days you need. Two-bedrooms tend to be some of the quickest units to fill.

Thanks guys. I just pulled my credit report and my score has gone up 60 points since they pulled last, so maybe things will be better on their side. I will call my guide in the morning and she what she says. Thanks again- I'll keep you all posted!

:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: Pixie dust coming your way with regard to your possible purchase! What a wonderful increase to your credit score too! Congratulations :rockband:

Prices tend to go up....

I don't know if this is true or not, but I was told by a guide that they thought SSR would go up to 105 pp sometime next year (maybe Januaryish....).
Could have just been sales hype, but the prices have been going up and up.

Most members comment is that their only regret was not joining sooner.
