Should I get one set of MacicBands or Two?

I'm trying to understand how I should set up my upcoming trip. We'll be staying on-site for 5 nights, then going on a cruise, then returning on-site for 2 days.

Currently, MDE shows us as having 2 sets of magicbands (one for the first stay, one for the second). But, we have only 1 set of tickets. I am not clear on how this will all work together - are we supposed to use the first set the first few days, then the second set later? Will the system know that our tickets apply to both sets of bands?

Do you all know if it is possible to combine these into just one set of magicbands (that seems easier)? If so, how - do I need to call Disney? Is there any reason we would want 2 sets?

You will get two sets of MagicBands.
BOTH sets will work on BOTH halves of your stay.
You can use either set at any time during your two trips and they will also be good if you go back to WDW on a future trip.
Some guests have over a dozen MB's for each person.
They all work.

Just to keep things as clear as possible-

There is no reservation info, or ticket info, or credit card info,

or FP+ info "put onto" a MagicBand.

A MagicBand just contains (and weakly "transmits") a unique serial number that is used to access the information that is stored in your MyDisneyExperience computer file.

So, even if you were to lose a MagicBand, the info stays locked in your file.

Disney can just set up a new band (different serial number)

to access the info in your MDE file.

Disney can also issue ADDITIONAL MB's to a guest and each

additional band can be used for the same purposes as the first band.

So, yes, there can be multiple MB's per person, and each of them can be used by that person, but their entitlements will all be common and identical.

The MagicBand works like the combination to a locked safe, or a key to a locked door.

The MB, itself, is not the file of info or the container of the info.

The MB just unlocks the file of info, allowing it to be accessed from your MDE account when needed.

Cool - thanks for clarifying that. We'll go ahead and get all of them, and then will have 2 each it seems!
