Should I call?

So I finally get our paper's or booklet for our trip.:cool1: There will be 3 of us. Myself, DH and My best friend. On the paper it says Port Orleans/ PRKing. I do hope this doesn't mean only a king bed! LOL Should I call? I didn't ask for a preferred room nor did I pay the extra for one. Not sure if I should just wait for check in or call. :confused3 We check in on Nov. 13th.

Yeah, call. As far as I know, mods with a king bed have just the one bed.:)

Other than preferred, there are other booking categories one can book that cost extra. King bed is one of them. If you or your agent accidentally booked a King room, you will get a King room and it will cost you more money. Definitely call and get it straightened out.

This is EXACTLY what my reservation said also. I noticed it right after I booked when I received my confirmation email. I called right away, as a king room would do us no good when traveling with two children! The CM I spoke with on the phone said she had NO idea what it meant and she could not find anywhere on our reservation that noted the PRKING that I was seeing. She put me on hold and spoke with her supervisor. Her supervisor also couldn't see it noted anywhere and had no idea what it meant. OK...not much help. I called back the next day, hoping to get a CM who might know more about this. Basically, the same thing happened again on the phone. The CM said again that it was not showing on her computer and she had no idea what it meant! Hmmmph.

So when is your trip? Was wondering if you already went if everything worked out for you?:wizard:

You can try calling the front desk directly

Port Orleans French Quarter 407-934-5000
Fax - 407-934-5353
Port Orleans Riverside 407-934-6000
Fax - 407-934-5777

I got the info from Allears Resort Phone & Fax List. Great resource. Let us know how it turns out.

No. I was told it did NOT mean preferred king. Both times I called, the CMs said they have NEVER seen such notation and it wasn't showing up on their confirmation of my reservation. Weird. IwovMickey- you should call as well and see what they tell you! I am sure everything will work out in the end. I am just really curious now that I know I am not the only one this has happened to.

I'm not doubting what you were told, but, I would just like to point out that logically speaking, if the CM's didn't know what 'PRKING' meant then they couldn't know if it meant 'Preferred' or 'Parking' or 'Port Resort' or 'Preferred Riverview' or anything else.

Just sayin' the CM's don't always know...:) I'd call the front desk. They are the ones that make the final decision on where to place you.

Our first trip to Disney we stayed at Coronado Springs, I contacted the front desk with my location request (close to the main building) along with my reason (attending a convention). We were placed close to all the lectures and classes. During the convention I overheard several people complaining about being stuck in rooms far away and/or the wrong kind of sleeping arrangements.

Good luck!

These numbers are not for the front desk. Unless you have an unlisted number, nothing you find is going to allow you to call the actual front desk. These numbers actually will send you to a call center where the CM will answer as the resort. Notice the difference in the last 4 numbers... this is what prompts the call to come in on that resorts line. As such, the CM will answer "Port Orleans French Quarter" or whatever resort number you called.

This even happens if you call the front desk from your room. It will get sent to the call center. Disney doesn't want their front desk people wasting time answering the phones.

Preferred King isn't a thing you can book. If you have a Preferred room booked, you would have to request a King - you can't book Preferred King. And requests are not viewable on the confirmation the guest receives. Since you didn't book preferred or request a king, I don't think thats it.

If you booked a King category or even a Preferred category by accident, the CM should be able to see you booked this since it's an upcharge. If they do not see this, then I don't think you accidentally booked this. Whenever I called for something and they read the details of my reservation to me, they always confirmed I was booked for a King room.

Parking might be it. Did you add ME? If not, then that would make sense that its parking because parking is included. It could still mean parking even if you did add ME. I'd try calling again and hopefully you can talk to someone else.

I have read about the call centers and the wasting time argument certainly makes sense. I will say that I had luck using these published numbers to get more information and secure my room requirements. It seems to me that, if the CMs at the Reservations number can't help, then even the call center is worth a try.

True, there is no harm in having another number that could possibly help the OP get the information they need. I just wanted to be sure to note that there are not the actual front desk numbers (so that there would be no misunderstanding). However, like ANY other number that someone calls at Disney, how helpful the CM will be can really vary. These numbers have as many "bad" reports over the years as the reservation number.
