Should I book or should I wait?

Hi. Has anyone found airfare to be outrageously expensive this year? My family and I are booking yet another Disney vacation August 16th-25th and staying at the Poly. I haven't booked a flight yet because the prices are too expensive. In your experiences, is it wise to wait until prices drop or should I book now in anticipation of prices going up? I'm still 6 months away from my trip. Didn't know if waiting to book airfare would eventually pay off. Anyone have any tips? Thanks:)

Keep an eye on prices. Book when you are satisfied with/can afford the prices. Don't look back. Folks will say there is a "window" when prices drop (I think the current thinking is 3-4 months out), but I wouldn't count on it.

If anyone can correctly predict what airfares would do, they should be making money in the lottery or on Wall Street.

Yup, I 'd have to agree with Sam Gordon. Book when you feel comfortable with a price. I recently booked flights for a late August trip. I was going to wait but then saw prices I could live with (129.00 p/p each way, nonstop). Certainly not the best price but one I am ok with. I really did not want to chance prices going up instead of down and I also did not want to chance taking a flight I was not happy with. As of right now, both flights I booked went up from 129.00 to 170.00.

Either way, have a magical trip!!!:wizard:

I came here this morning to ask the same question. We are flying from Philly to Orlando August 12th for Dream Cruise. Before today I could find prices for depature date, but nothing for the return date August 22nd. I looked today and the return date is now available at $95.00 pp X 5 of us, but the departure date in noe $135.00 pp X 5........I swear this was only about $100.00 before. Two years ago I kept waiting and it cost me a extra $300.00 when the prices went up over night......I hated spending that extra money.:confused3

I know, it's plain crazy I tell you! I think we all need extra pixie dust pixiedust:

i make yearly trips to orlando and start watching the fares 10 months out.

i found on tripit, flights for late sept/ return mid october with american for $134 rt. (plus taxes of $20= $154 total)

i jumped on it and booked it last month.

i prefer United but not at the over $359 price that goes with it.....

i buy my air at the price i am comfortable paying.
and i don't look back then....

i am signed up with a couple of programs where i do receive emails of sales for flights.
that helps me tremendously in scouring for fares i can live with.

usually there will be changes of flight times prior to my departure by booking months out, but nothing that has created any problems for me.
