We have convention tickets (5 day PH plus 1 Fun) that we were thinking of upgrading to Annual Passes. I called to make sure that they were upgradeable since I have heard conflicting stories. I was told they were.........so then I asked if I used the Fun (waterpark) if I would have to upgrade to the Premium Annual Pass.........the person on the other end told me NO, but if I would upgrade before I used the WP, I wouldnt have it.

Does this sound right? I dont want to use the WP part, and then have to upgrade to the PAP.

The info you got about the WP use was incorrect.
If you do use a WP asset on a ticket and you upgrade, it must be to a Premium AP.
If you don't use a WP asset on a ticket and you upgrade, it can be upgraded to either a regular AP or a Premium AP.

As to whether the convention tickets can be upgraded to longer tickets or AP's...
some can and some cannot.

What makes some upgradeable & some not?

I wondered & even said.........I know if you have a WP&M ticket and you upgrade and have used the WP portion it has to be upgraded to a PAP. I just want to make sure what the rules are so that when I upgrade I know whether they are blowing me smoke or not. Seems like it is all based on who you get to take care of you.

The terms written on the ticket? Usually tickets that are heavily discounted are not upgradeable (IE Disney Sports tickets), while others that are offered at a smaller discount may be. I also believe that some convention tickets are not offered to the general public, so they may not have an equivalent public value. For instance, some conventions offer after 4PM tickets that you and I cannot buy.

Yup.

But, the tickets that the OP has (5 day PH plus 1 Fun) look like tickets that CAN be upgraded.

As to the price to upgrade?
I can only guess that it will be the difference between the new ticket price and what was paid for the convention ticket.
