Ron was pretty useless in the series as far as helping Harry accomplish much in destroying horocruxes/making the prophecy easier to complete. Had Harry not met him or Harry not get involved with Ginny, none of the Weasleys would have died/been targeted. Just my opinion.

I read the books before I watched the movies. Their lack of chemistry in the movies must have wiped out any relationship memory I had of them in the books. Lol.
The differences between the movie and the book were not all that meaningful as far as Cho and Harry's possible romance was concerned. Each pretty much crushed it in their own ways.
Should Harry Potter have chosen Hermione over Ginny? Supposedly even J.K. Rowling said he should have but what do you think?
Some would say they bonded in the tent after Ron left for those couple months. J.K. Rowling said in an interview that she thought she might have made a mistake by not having them ending up together. Chosen may have been the wrong word. Maybe I should have said: Do you think Harry should have pursued a romantic relationship with Hermione over Ginny? Remember, Lily didn’t fall for James for many years. To be honest when book 7 came out, I thought Hermione and him were going to be together in the epilogue. I didn’t skip to the end like some of my friends and when Ron left the tent, I thought they would become an item.
For those who didn’t like this response: I think Neville was more of a true friend to Harry than Ron. Fred seemed to also have more useful skills and never was jealous or treated Harry badly.Fred should have lived and Ron should have died in my opinion.

The movies (as fun as they are, and as glad as I am to have them) kind of did Ron a disservice. Some of his lines and contributions in the book were given to Hermione in the movie to promote strong female characters. (For instance, in the shrieking shack in Prisoner of Abakan, it was really Ron - on a broken leg, no less - who jumped in front of Harry saying "you'll have to kill us first".)
The more I think about it, maybe Hermione and Luna should have ended up together.
Or someone willing to take her abuse. I couldn't stand that character. In the book OR the movies. She spoke to everyone like they were idiots. I think we've all had friends like Hermione who think it's okay to constantly speak hatefully to you, but when you give them a taste of their own medicine, they go all to pieces. I can't stand the scene where she's reading the deathly hallows and Ron interrupts and says, "midnight, mum always said midnight". The hateful look she gives Ron makes me hate her even more. I mean, why does she think that's called for....like ever? Ok rant over. lol
She apparently confirmed it in an interview eons ago. Like when the last book came out eons ago.
it's funny you say this. I was annoyed that Harry Didn't die in the end and stay dead. I thought that would've been an epic ending and not the typical happy predictable ending. I also thought it would've been super cool if Neville HAD been the chosen one all along. That would have been a great plot twist.Fred should have lived and Ron should have died in my opinion.
I thought Ron was written the most real of anyone. If he had been just the perfect friend to a T, then the relationships in the books would have come off as completely fake to me. Same with the Cho relationship. It was nothing more than kids being kids and dating this one and that one here and there like most people do. I liked that Ron went through a phase where he got jealous. It represented the fights we've all had at one point or another with their best friend. I know my best friend and I surely did. We were kids. We betrayed each other a time or two, found "new friends" and then missed each other and apologized. She's still one of my best friends today. It was a normal flow of a relationship to me instead of portraying him as a trusty sidekick to Harry's superhero.
