This is great! One of my biggest complaints about the series is how unrealistic it was for those kids to have to go back to Hogwarts in the middle of the apocalypse. That I thought was dumb. Yeah let's just send off our kids to be abused. Made no sense. It was like JK felt she HAD to keep the school a part of everything. I would've understood more had she made Hogwarts a refugee camp or something more realistic during this time, but to act like school was just going on as normal was a bit far fetched.Honest question, did Hogwarts or Ilvermorny prepare there students better for post graduation life during the times of the series? Seriously, Ilvermorny parents paid for their children to get a quality and safe education. Hogwarts basically had finals canceled twice, only one good defense against the dark arts professor, and had students in danger every moment they started a new school year. I mean if you were a parent, would you ask for a refund? I actually wonder if Ilvermorny grads had better job prospects than Hogwarts. I would love to know if Hogwarts lost any accreditation when it came to school safety.![]()

I know! By the last book, I finally figured that maybe the new Voldemort-controlled ministry mandated all kids go to Hogwarts, like a "send them, or we'll kill them" sort of thing? This is great! Hermione should have divorced Ron and married Draco, have full custody of the kids and become Scorpius’s stepmom. That would have been a great storyline after Daphne’s sister’s death (another character that should have livedI liked Harry marrying into the Weasley family, and as others have said, book Ginny was way better than movie Ginny.
Hermione, on the other hand, could have done a lot better than Ron.
There’s a YouTube video called Honest Trailers-Harry Potter that goes after plot holes in the series and makes fun of Hogwarts. I can’t post it here due to some language issues but if your looking for a laugh as a Potterhead, it’s very funny.I know! It had to be something like that because what kind of parent would say, "I know there's a war going on out there, but you need your education." lolI know! I've had them on this weekend as well.I’m watching Half Blood Prince as I write...
I'm the same way! I think it's two things:What is it about those marathons that are so comforting? I have them running in the background every time they're on. Even though I own all of the movies...
Yes yes and yes! There is such a sense of comradery between HP fans for sure! I'm with you on the feeling like you're missing something thing. I even like to have it on when I nap or go to bed at night. Especially the Deathly Hallows because they're visually darker and soothing to me.I'm the same way! I think it's two things:
1) the sense of connection that comes from watching it "with" a lot of other fans
2) the lack of pressure - If I put on the DVD, I feel like I have to sit down and watch, but if it's on TV, I can just have it on in the background and go about all the other things I'm doing without feeling like I'm "missing" something.
I've really liked this thread! Someone think of another Harry Potter subject for us to discuss!
Yes, I thought the same thing -- we must indoctrinate the young; you will send your children. Shades of Hitler Youth. Membership is mandatory.I know! Oh, yes -- lots of little hints that Ron and Hermione would one day become a thing. That scene definitely speaks volumes! And I think even as far back as film two, they were giving hints. - When Hermione comes back from the hospital wing after being un-petrified, she runs up and hugs Harry, but then she and Ron get all nervous and shake hands instead:
They don't come on as often as they used to, but we love them in our house. What is it about those marathons that are so comforting? I have them running in the background every time they're on. Even though I own all of the movies, I still have to turn them on if they're on tv. And I swear, For the last umpteen years, every other weekend is a Harry Potter weekend on one channel or another. It's got to be the MOST re-ran series of all time by now.
Okay, I have a semi spin-off question. If you as a kid had a time turner and was sent back to your parents high school days, who would would you want to meet (mom or dad)? Also, which do you think would think that time travel is cool and which parent do you think would ground you immediately for messing with time?I've really liked this thread! Neither would have grounded me (but then again, I probably wouldn't have had the guts to do it in the first place.Okay, I have a semi spin-off question. My Dad would ground me, probably because I'd get to see what a dork he was and ruin his image lol. I'd like to meet my mom. I'd love to see what she was like as a girl.Okay, I have a semi spin-off question.
