So glad I decided to take this trip. The mindset is definitely mindless summer enjoyment.
My regular weekly home attendant, Denisa, decided to come with me despite her fear of flying. Helping her to get past it took almost our entire row and I’m grateful for the kindness of strangers. One of our flight attendants was not useful but that’s the breaks.
Anyway we’re past that time so let’s talk food! I’m “the leader” of this merry duo so since Denisa has never been here before I get to show her my version of Disney eating. Ran thru all the AP mega discounts I’d interest in so time to eat where we will.
Had a coupon for Paddlefish so sat down to a meal of little dishes that made a whole: split a watercress salad, crab guacamole and Florida grouper. The grouper in particular was a pleasant change of pace since normally I opt for a seafood boil. The last time I ate here the guacamole was flecked with lobster but somehow the crabmeat blended better. The watercress was a must as it’s so hard to find it in my local markets; worth the wait. The marine setting was calming as usual. Wandered around DS for a while, window shopping and people watching with gelato in hand. Denisa opted for a cookie and cream with chocolate waffle cone while I found a lemon cup easier to manage.
Another evening, we ate at Flying Fish, a personal favorite of mine. Started off with Negroni cocktails with Denisa loving the basket of warm bread on the table. Couldn’t blame her as it really looked good. Once again it was a sharing meal better to try everything we wanted, lol.
A bowl of lobster bisque for her, a saffron tinted mussels for me. Followed by a ‘shroom and rice galette and a seafood medley in tomato broth. We tossed a coin to figure out where to eat dessert and CBS won. Hard on my total love for FF’s sweet offerings but it was still a sweet compromise.Denisa had millionaire shortbread and I, a raspberry jam tart to go.
Back at DS for another day. This time Denisa wanted to check out Sephora and I figured we weren’t too far away from the Polite Pig so ordered some takeout for the room’s terrace. Brisket of beef, shredded pork and chicken wings made the cut along with a leftover green salad from another day. Made sure lots of wet towelettes were included, lol.
