Short trips to the World worth it?? Talk to me....

If I could I would live in Disney World. But since that is just not possible, I try to get there as much as I can. We generally like to stay anywhere from 10 days to 2 weeks at least once a year; however, we just can't afford to do that more than once a year. So, we often do what you are talking about, short trips. We LOVE 'em! We leave on Thursday and come back late Monday. This way, you have at least 2 full days to play with and 2 half days. You just have to be sure to remind yourself that you are NOT going to see everything. BUT, your on vacation in Disney World...it's so worth it!!!

we are doing a short 4 night trip next month b/c we've never been during the holiday season before. And because I wanted to stay at the Poly, but I know we can only afford a few nights during value season. :teeth:

Poly and GF are my fav resorts for 4 nights - you'll feel you've been away longer because it's soooo relaxing!!

It's going to be magical!!! :)

As Florida residents, we live by the short trip. Each year, we do make a week-long trip. But, the vast majority of our trips are 2 and 3 nighters. Don't go in trying to do "a little of everything." Instead, do "a lot of a few things." Spend an entire day at one park on one day and another on the next. You'll feel like you did more than if you are hopping about over just a couple of days. Absolutely, make the short trip.

We also do short trips. With a daughter in college, most of the time we can't get away for any longer than that! We love them!:D

Absolutly go, but do this on a budget!
1.) Look at AP rates and budget your meals. If you are staying on property, look at the value resorts.

2.)Buy a foam cooler to keep in the room. Use it for food, for breakfast, snacks, etc. so you are not spending a million dollars on food at the hotel. (Who needs to spend $7.00 a person on beacon and eggs!)

3.) When we go to the MK we book a PS at the Crystal palace at thier LATEST lunch time possible. This way you can take advantage of the character dining at the LUNCH rate, eat a bunch of food at the buffet and that omits dinner since you just had a HUGE late lunch. If anything get a snack later to munch on. I think the latest time is 4pm.

4.)Since you have been before, do the things you MUST do first then if time allows, explore and do the things that you would only do if you had time.

5.) Utilze the FASTPASS system too.

If you plan this, you can really have a great vacation.

See ya real soon!

Is it the time you can't afford? By taking short trips you are increasing the cost of airfare. I would save for a longer trip. Depending on when you arrive Friday and leave Sunday those 2 days could be pretty well shot which leaves you 1 day, 2 nights hotel, air fare and transportation to the hotel. I would probably save and go on a longer trip, unless it is money that is no object.

We love to do short trips! For us they are enjoyable and give a good dose of Disney magic! My grandparents live a few hours from WDW so when we visit them we'll often head to WDW for a few days! My wife is a teacher, so long visit during the cooler months are impossible, so we get away for a few days here and there. Also, Southwest often has some amazing fares from Baltimore (as low as $49 each way!) so the transportation costs are not too high.

We were there in june for 8 days and had another trip planned for Nov 28. Well as time has pasted we become Disneyfrustrated and in the beginning of Oct ran up for a couple of days. We could not wait anylonger. YES TES YES it is worth it. First of all I got to see and do the Food and Wine Festival again and just to be there. To re coup, re engerize, re disneyize was so worth it. Now I am putting up with DH calling me like today telling me he wants to leave NOW and not next week. I have to keep telling him that in two weeks we will be home to make him come back to earth again.

Wow...thanks for all the posts everyone! With all the replies, it seems like something I should really look into.

I wish I would have bought AP's on this last trip. That would make it a lot easier. But, live and learn.

I need a Disney fix, either way!
