Back at the hotel on Saturday 1/19 with the temperature hovering at about 40 degrees we watch two kids in the pool with the parents standing by in coats and gloves!! Hmmmmm??? I guess its heated...but NO WAY!!!
We buy lunch at the hotel (gotta love the kids eating free!) Pizza hut all around!
We rest and pack up, we are leaving the following morning to drive to Cape Canaveral for our cruise (not disney-feeling a bit bad about that) and rest up a bit and soon I am getting that...Lets go lets go lets go-feeling. We have tape players in the room and we only brought one movie...Little Mermaid...I am ready to turn it OFF!! So soon we are driving back to the Magic Kingdom.
On Friday morning when got there we parked in second row...Daisy I think....and looked in horror at the size of the parking lot. I think its as big as Rhode Island!! This time, Saturday late afternoon it is filled up..not completely but we are way back in the rows but we grab our stuff and our stroller (no way to do it without it!) and soon we are in. It is a bit of a pain to have to drive to the TTC and then take the monorail or ferry over...but its not too busy.
Once in the park I marvel at Main Street. I can't wait to go back again and just walk slow and look at everything.
There is a little show going on at the castle so we make our way there and then we move on to get a fast pass at Winnie the Pooh, Sarah wants to ride it NOW!! Not yesterday with NO line but NOW!! Well Fast Passes are sold out...bummer, but I tell her Tough..you should have rode it yesterday..well actually I think I said something like...Sorry Honey we'll try later...but I was definately thinking the former.
We rush over to Peter Pan and get a fast pass for later, there is no line at the Carousel and it is going dark and all twinkly so we make our way onto that. Then as we get off Sarah says...Lets Go to the Haunted Mansion I want to see the scary Ghosts? WHAT...is this the child that wouldn't do ANYTHING yesterday...scary ghosts...at night? Go figure! So we head there and there is no line so we hop on and enjoy it more this time. In fact we are the only ones in that holding room you go in first..so Sarah liked that. We really wanted to go to Tom Sawyers Island again but it closes at dusk so we missed that. It was really cold and everyone was complaining again (Hey, you are in Disney....buck up!!) I notice the light parade is getting set..the earlier one (6:30pm) we intended to do the later one but since we were near the Liberty Tree Tavern and the kids wanted a hot drink we figured we would hang out there and watch it then. It was a bit more crowded than the day parade, definately more people in the park. Husband walks off to get fries and hot cocoa and comes back with one of each...THREE KIDS HON!! So we throw daggers at each other for awhile and I stomp off to get more and what happens...He gives our SPOT UP!!! Hello...why am I standing right there!! Okay so now the parade is about to start and some adults have crowded in blocking the kids...not just mine but the other couple who were staying in the same place with us for about 15 minutes. They must have turned as well. So I was bummed for a few moments and then I thought...well whatever. So I tapped the adults on the back and said...very nicely, Could my kids sit down in front of you to watch they have been waiting. So they nicely moved back a bit, we collected some other kids up and basically pushed them back a bit. Its okay to ask though with little ones, I mean they can stand up and you can see over them but not the other way. The people nicely moved aside and Sarah and this little boy were upfront and center with one of us parents with them...do not get separated!! Don't think you can step back five steps and still find them, its dark and swarming with people. My goal was to touch Sarah at all times!!
The parade was incredible. She watched everything and clapped and sang and giggled. She loved the little bugs that zip around, and cinderella and Alice and...oh everything.
After the parade we headed to...Its a Small World!! Couldn't not do that, then we went to Peter Pan and now she wants to ride again...of course there are lines everywhere so she couldn't. We looked at Winnie the Pooh but it was still so long, then rode the tea cups ... a few times, then the boys went to the speedway, very short line and thats always so crowded. Then it was time to beat our way out before the fireworks...it was cold and wanted to miss the mass exodus which was still wild!! People running everywhere. We went to the ferry, its alot easier than pushing through the crowd to get up that ramp to the monorail and then fight for a seat! The ride on the ferry is peaceful and you can unwind on your way back....looking for that last view of the castle.
Goodbye Mickey and Minnie, it was a busy, short and wonderful trip. I am already planning our return as we make our way back to the car.
I left in May feeling that I could have done it better and I came back and did!
Now on to the cruise!
