Can someone please tell me about the shopping on the cruise ship? Is it reasonable (need I even ask?), what stores are there and how much time can I spend there?

Mickey's Mates, and Treasure Ketch are very nice shops. Treasure Ketch seems to have more upscale items, while MM has more "theme park-type" merchandise. Don't know if it's still there, however, in the back corner of MM (forward/port) of the shop they had a "sale section". Happy shopping!

Shopping is in one of thee main places:

Treasure Ketch - upscale clothing (polo shirts, sun dresses, swimsuits), jewelry, and collectibles.

Mickey's Mates - all Disney - kind of like a mini Emporium. T-shirts, pins, magnets, mugs, plush, costumes, etc.

In the club district is also a shop that sells duty free perfumes and liquor.

There is a pin cart that comes out each night as well.

Last, but by no means least, is She Sells Sea Shells...and everything else on Castaway Cay. Your only source for CC merchandise.

Each of these are something you can breeze through in a couple of minutes. Maybe longer if you really want to browse slowly, but you won't need a lot of time. We usually pop in a couple of times during the cruise. Once to check things out and later to actually buy.

Mickey's Mates has all sorts of fun items that are typical to any gift shop. (t-shirts, hats, plushes, picture frames)
Treasure Ketch has some nicer "adult" stuff, including paintings and prints, jewlery and clothes. On our cruise, they also sold gold chain by the in... well Gold plated anyways. I got my DBF a 21" chain for $25! Just something for the everyday.... they had mickey and minnie links and jewel encrusted ones as well all duty free. I didn't find any of the prices outrageous.... but I do love to shop!:wave2:

I thought I had read somewhere that any liquor purchased in the ships duty free shop connot be consumed onboard. Is this true? It just doesn't make much sense to me. How do they insure that you don't?

Pacha

Pacha, most lines will hold your purchase til the last day of the cruise. Thus you can not drink your cheap stuff, and have to spend your money with them.
Beside, if they do catch you, they hit you with a hammer! :teeth:
