Shopaholic Goes Disney.... A Pre-Trip Report (Updated 12/26)

Just wanted to chime in here and say--keep this ptr going! It's great--especially the shopping part!!

VB--love her!! I just got the 'on the go'purse/bag in Mod pink. I really hated that pattern on the web,but in person it was sooooo cute. I really love that it goes with most of my stuff-not toooo stand-out-ish. The brown microfiber bags are really great. I have bought my mom some for travel-java blue--she loves 'em too. I think I may have to splurge on a back/pack or bigger bag for our Jan. trip. But, if I do get a VB my hubby AIN'T gonna share the load. I have been pre-warned. So this may not be a good idea. Maybe we'll just stick to his plain blue/black backpack....yes, he def. needs to work out his back---keep his strength up for all that walking!!!!

You know...I haven't really looked at any of the VB stuff, but seeing these bags is getting me interested. They are so cute!

I like the top you got for the princess meal. Very nice...

I have been a bad reader. Real life is catching up on me...

I'm still thinking about doing my ptr. I just don't know if I have enough to report that would keep it running for almost 6 months.:confused3

My DH would so NOT be down with carrying such cuteness on his hip. It's funny to imagine though.:rotfl: He carried his man purse around during our Honeymoon.

I'm about to post more things Vera..... headed to work out and will be back after lunch.

Since everyone is having so much fun talking about Vera, I thought I would post pictures of a few things on my wish list. I would also like your opinion on a “black” bag. Everyone knows that a good shopaholic wouldn’t wear a brown Puccini Hipster with a black outfit. A black outfit calls for another bag, of course!

Poll: Which Bag do you like better?

Pink Elephant
vb4.jpg

Pink and Elephants! Two of my favorite things!

OR

Night Owl
vb3.jpg

I love the style of this bag and the little owls are precious.

Here's my concern: the strap drop. The Pink Elephants one is only a 4 inch drop...is that long enough for you to carry it the way you want? I wish the Night Owl one came in Pink Elephants, but no. :(

If I had to choose for me...Night Owl based on strap drop. For you? Pink Elephants (if you can deal with the strap) because it's two of your favorite things!

As far as mixing black and brown I have had several people tell me (that have recently been to NYC) that mixing is the new thing. Hope so--cause some days I have to do it!! I have way more brown than black and it isn't justifiable to buy a good black purse for one black shirt!

As for your poll-I too love pink(favorite color along with green!) and elephants rule!! I love the hoot-owls as well, but the owl bag---& I have seen it in person as well---sort of makes your eyes go crazy. Like looking through chicken wire or something!! AND---isn't the pink elephant stuff marked down? I thought it was retiring, so that would be a + in my book! !!

ooooo! I love the night owl - that's such a pretty new pattern! Then again, the pink elephants would be good for a black outfit and is also extraordinarily cute...

Loved the princess shirt for Akershus! That's always the hardest part of a Disney wardrobe for me...deciding what to wear to meet the princesses! princess:

I just told one of my teenagers about my new Puccini Hipster & Carry-on. She said, "Oh, Mrs. Soleil, you are going to be in-style!" Haha! That makes me feel so old!:rotfl: Am I currently "out of style?" :confused3

Tought choice...I like the pink elephant pattern, but agree that the owl bag would be a better style. Good luck with that decision!

We are all home sick today, so I’m not quite as lively as usual. :sad1:

Yesterday, I decided to upgrade to the Deluxe Dining Plan. I was so thrilled and planned one surprising DH. By 5 pm, however, the beans were spilled. As soon as he called to check on us, I let him know that we would be eating at Cali Grill and getting “free” mugs. (Free meaning, he just swipes our card and we get them. No cash involved.:confused3 )

DH: “So this means we get to grub out?”
Me: “Yup!”

I like your dining choices. We are doing the Dining Plan this November. How does the Deluxe work - can you eat at any type (CS or TS) 3 times a day plus 2 snack credits? - I just wanted to be sure - you are getting your monies worth. :)

Yes, that's how it works. 3 meals (TS OR CS) + 2 snacks + a mug per person.

We were paying so many out of pocket on the regular DP, that it made more sense to upgrade and add then have the bonus of a few signature dining choices. :)

DH will be the type to order the most expensive thing on the menu just to get his monies worth!:rotfl:

Where are you planning on eating during your trip? :)

We have 2 young kids so I tried to find restuarants that I thought would be good for them and us. :goodvibes
  • Cape May Dinner
  • Wolfgang Puck Express Dinner
  • Sci Fi Dinner
  • Liberty Tree Tavern Dinner
  • Kona Breakfast
  • Beaches and Cream Lunch/Snack
  • Le Cellier Dinner
  • 'Ohana Breakfast and Dinner
  • Hoop Dee Doo (this is Out of Pocket)
Those are the resturants that are definite - I have other CS places in mind. I love Cali Grill and hope to eat there again - I loved watching Wishes from the observation deck.

Everything looks good. I'll probably be MIA for awhile. Keeping an eye out on Gustav. The predicted landfall is currently over my house.

Hi .. I just found your PTR. I loved looking at your GORGEOUS wedding. Belle is so cute.. and I love her name. Did you say you were from Shreveport? I am originally from New Orleans, but I live in Bossier now. :)

Hello! I just found your PTR and am really enjoying it! That's so cool you're going to be staying at WL...I've only visited there and it's so neat.

Your daughter is adorable, and so is the name Belle!

And I also have to say that I love your VB bag...I am such a Vera Bradley junkie. I have one of those new all-in-one wristlets (along with waaaay too much other stuff!).

Can't wait to read more. :)

Well come on up to North LA and make a visit! :)

I am praying that Gustav will calm down. My sister was planning on moving to NO for school on Monday. I really don't want her going, so it would be nice if Gustav could only hit her future house. (Yikes! That sounds mean.:sad2: I'm very nervous for her to move down to the city by herself. She's moving into a house right off of Magazine Street. Do you know anything about that area?)

Thanks! I grew up in South Bossier. If you like my pictures, check out my photographer. Her webpage is pure eye candy. She is insanely talented! www.kellymoorephotography.com

Thanks! I'm trying to get Belle interested in "The Belle" and she doesn't care about her at all. She likes Ariel!:cutie:

I am dying to try Beaches and Cream & Kona! You are so lucky! Maybe if we have time this trip we can try out B&C. I'm a big cheeseburger lover and I hear they are amazing there.:goodvibes

Question about the Liberty Tree Tavern--I don't know if I am confusing this with something else. The one I am thinking of is in MK to the left and down the street from the Hall of Presidents. This one served us dinners that were sponsored by Stauffers and it was not good at all. Also, they didn't do any character stuff. Is this the place or is there somewhere else I am thinking of. Because I keep seeing all these ADRs for here makes me wonder what I am really missing!!

We are at Poly for the next trip--what food should we NOT miss?

I'm not going to LTT. You are correct, it is sponsored by Stouffer and I've read mixed reviews. Mostly good, however. They say the mac&cheese is great! (Which is a fabulous thing in my book!):lmao:

Here's what the Disney website says:

Liberate your appetite! Show your "Character" by joining Minnie and her friends dressed in their finest Revolutionary War-era garb — as you band together for a revolutionary dinner feast. Your Mouse hostess invites you to enjoy a hearty American meal of roasted turkey, marinated flank steak and other colonial favorites with all the trimmings.

Minnie in Revolutionary War-era garb sounds adorable!:cutie:
Food by Stouffer does not sound so adorable.:rolleyes1

As far as Poly goes-
O'Hana- It's been a family favorite of ours for about 15 years. This will be the first time DH will ever go and I haven't been in several years (actually, as an adult), so the jury is out on this one food-wise. If you have kids I would suggest it, because I remember they did lots of fun things that we liked. (Hula hoop contest, coconut broom races, on my 16th birthday they gave me a tiara and paraded me around the place, while I waved like Mrs. America.:rotfl2: )

Kona- This place get's wonderful reviews. It seems to be very popular. The tonga toast (their version of french toast) sounds to die for. Dinner also sounds great!

Sorry if I gave too much info...... I'm quite a talker. (Especially about things Disney.:wizard: )
