Shop Disney Parks app D&B purse went kaput after 3 weeks

I'm so bummed. I got a great deal on this Dooney & Burke Magic Kingdom purse - ordered it on August 1, using a DVC discount via the "Shop Disney Parks" app. It arrived after about 10 days, I've been using it daily since.

Today, less than a month after receiving it, the strap popped right off one side.

I'm so sad about it - I hadn't been weighing it down with lead weights! I just put the regular purse stuff - keys, glasses, wallet, lipstick... and yet, today it died.

I called the Shop Disney Parks. They were really friendly and helpful. They said because it's more than 30 days after the purchase, they normally wouldn't let me return it for credit, but are allowing me to as a "one time courtesy" (okay) but I have to pay return shipping. I also sent photos of the damage to an e-mail address they provided me.

I'm a little nervous about shipping something down to Florida right now. (I told the lady I hope she and everyone down there are safe during the hurricane!) I added insurance to the package. Crossing my fingers it gets there eventually (and that everyone in the area remains safe!)

Anyway... very disappointing. Just bad luck, I guess. I thought D&B was a quality brand. Maybe the merch they make for Disney parks is sub-par? I was definitely not abusing it.

Just a general vent post/small warning...
 
Thanks for the warning. I hope this isn't the norm, though I will admit I do not own a single Disney Dooney since this 2014 issue that plagued many.

It was because of this I never purchased a single bag and now with this, I doubt I ever will. For you to have to pay return shipping on a faulty handbag is outrageous. I would follow closely to see if others are experiencing the same and if they too had to pay return shipping. If not I would get Disney to reimburse you. It just isn't right.

I bought a D&B Haunted Mansion edition purse, and it's fantastic!
Been used for several years with no issues.
 
Dooney & Burke are good about repairs or even replacements.
I had a strap break on one a few years ago and they replaced it for me no issues, it was less than a year old.

My husband bought me a Louis Vuitton in January and the clasp that closes the bag came out of the stitching, I just emailed them and I hope they will repair it for me with the same ease Dooney & Burke did.
 

Unfortunately, this is more common than you’d think and Dooney & Bourke’s handlings of these things varieds. Dooney sometimes will push this back on Disney and sometimes they say there’s nothing they can do if replacement bags aren’t available. This comes up a bit on all of the Disney bag groups on Facebook. When the Haunted Mansion bags came out a few years ago, there were all kinds of problems.

Was this a Disney D&B or just a Dooney from a department store? We already have evidence Disney and Dooney were uncooperative, moreover it took someone to post it on social media before they decided to acknowledge there was an issue and many women reported this early on.

I'm glad D&B was able to take care of you and I sincerely hope LV does the same unfortunately OP is not experiencing this luck it's the exact opposite.

To be fair, this was back in September so it could have been taken care of months ago.

I purchased that Dooney at Macy's or Dillards, but contacted the company directly.
Took my purse to LV yesterday and they sent it to California and said they will SEE if the can repair it and this is no warranty on their purses.
It will take 6 weeks to fix if they can fix it.
