Shooting at Va Tech

According to CNN, the young man in the white striped shirt was so upset he passed out and collapsed to the floor. He had to be helped to his feet and then they escorted him out with his family members :sad1:

The poor guy...you saw him drop down and the emergency techs run over. My heart crys for all of them...

I'm not usually a cryer by any means, but 10 minutes into the convocation...I was no more good. I have been in such a somber mood all day. I try to get my mind off of it by thinking about our upcoming trip and stuff...but I just can't. Everything else just seems so trivial to me :sad1: .

Yes, I agree. Everything seems trivial today. So, so sad. :sad1:

The "Let's go Hokies" chant has me broken down :sad1: I don't know anyone who attends or has attended VT, but this touches everyone. My heart hurts for every one of them :guilty:

Ok that got me!

ITA...that last speech by Nikki Giovanni and the "Let's Go Hokie's" chant has made a mess out of me. Glad DD is taking a nap, because I don't want her to ask me "What's wrong?".

Yes, the famous "Let's Go Hokies..." I was crying during it too. Very touching. And then our local station just showed a bunch of pictures of the victims. It's heartbreaking.

I post regularly on a Red Sox message board and one of the posters there frequents a Detroit Tigers message board and one of their members was killed yesterday at Virginia Tech. This thread is from yesterday (and today) as members of the message board disovered he had been killed and it's truly heartbreaking http://www.motownsports.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47773

It's a reminder that even though we just post on a message board and most of us don't know each other in real life, we're all part of a big family.

As a proud and sad Hokie, I am sobbing uncontrollably after the chant. It came at the most appropriate time.

If you are interested, you can read his writings at The Smoking Gun website. I will not direct link it here though.

:scared1: Wow! That would give Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino nightmares!

I won't direct link it either, but if you do review them, they contain some frightening, sickeningly predictive elements. One example:

I hate him. Must kill (name). Must kill (name). (name) must die. Kill (name). What kind of name is that? What a (xxxxx) name. I don't like it. And look at his face. What a (xxxxx) face. I don't like his face at all. You don't think I can kill you, (name)? You don't think I can kill you?

Very disturbing play! The language and the subject matter are very, very disturbing. I wonder if parts of this happened to him in real life?

I didn't get past the first few pages, but that was my first thought also!

I do believe it was on MSNBC.com where they interviewed neighbors and the mail man. All said that the loner personility of the son, did not transfer from the parents. As they both seemed very outgoing and friendly. But you NEVER know!

I wish I didn't watch tv this afternoon.. I don't know how anyone could watch that and not cry.. There just aren't any words to describe how horribly sad I feel for everyone involved..:sad1:

I read it. I'm assuming it's real; possibly submitted by a classmate.

It's pretty messed up, true. But that tidbit, by itself, is not necessarily a whole lot worse than others I have read in screenwriting class or seen in action movies. One thing that I did notice was all the characters in the scene are very prone to violence and loyalty/mood swings. Typically, it's just one character (the villain type) that stands out as being off-the-charts wacko, not all of them. All three of them were like crazy serial killers. That's what I found rather alarming.

I'll bet that all of Cho's writing was like that, too. If he couldn't write anything that had any normal/sane characters in it, that would have set off some warnings to professors and classmates.

I just got home from campus here in town. We've got a plan in place should something occur. Flags are at half mast. I saw people wearing the colors, for a day as nice as it was not many people were outside.

Extremely sad.

I didn't go to Virginia Tech but I visited there once for a district convention for my sorority and our brother fraternity that was hosted there. The campus was beautiful and the town of Blacksburg has such pride for the Tech. The brothers and sisters at Virginia Tech were very popular in our district because they were fun, outgoing, and very proud of their school. I am sure the majority of the students that have attended, are attending, or will attend Virginia Tech are the same and my heart goes out to all those who are hurting today.

And Professor Liviu Librescu, who survived not only the Holocaust but also Communist Romania, who barricaded the classroom door with his body and urged his students to escape, losing his own life in the process.

They are ALL heroes . . . :sad1:

:sad1:
