Not surprised the calls are not getting through on cell phones. My niece said they were not working. So if the signal isn't getting to the phone it would be picked up by the voice mail. Also, he may have lost it in confusion and hasn't been able to retrieve the phone if it was left in West A-J or the engineering building.

I am so hoping you get good news soon.

Local TV stations with peple there who might be able to help find names, although they probably are powerless are www.WDBJ7.com and www.WSLS.com They have contact numbers on the websites.

Frankly my aunt is assuming he is safe and to call local media/police/FBI or any1 with authority to her means somehting is wrong!!! Don't try to find any logic in this. My uncle is already in Delaware driving down to Virginia. I just want this to be a case where he lost/forgot his cell. I am just so worried and basically staring at a computer screen to be doing something else!!!

Have you checked his my space or facebook page yet? They are reporting that many students are posting there that they are okay. Please take many deep breaths and keep us updated...

BLACKSBURG, Va., April 16, 2007, 3:45 p.m.

Virginia Tech remains closed on Monday, April 16, 2007. Vehicular entrances to campus are severely restricted to essential personnel only. Additional security remains on campus as the investigation continues.

Counseling assistance for students is available at West Ambler Johnston and McComas Hall until 9 p.m. Monday night. Students are encouraged to utilize these services. Counseling for faculty and staff is available in the Bowman Room on the fourth floor of Jamerson Athletic Center, accessible from Jamerson or the Merryman Athletic Facility. Students may also gather at the Old Dominion Ballroom in Squires Student Center.

The university will also be closed on Tuesday, April 17. Essential personnel are to report for work. Classes are canceled.

A public gathering will be held on Tuesday, April 17 at Cassell Coliseum at 2 p.m. (a time change from the originally scheduled gathering).

All students are urged to contact their parents as soon as possible to let them know they are safe.

Students, faculty, and staff who may have any information related to the incident at West Ambler Johnston Hall and Norris Hall are encouraged to go to the Blacksburg Police Department to make statements, or call 540-231-TIPP (8477), or 231-6411

Parents with concerns are asked to call the Dean of Students Office at 540-231-3787.

Individuals injured in the two shootings have been taken to area hospitals.

I'm lucky that I don't know anyone there, but I just found out that my ex-fiance texted 12 of his friends there this morning and he's heard back from none of them yet. I'm sure it's just bad cell signal, but he won't believe me that that can happen and is quite worried.

I just called the Indian Alumni Association! They are looking into it and are trying to find out his whereabouts. They also said that 80% of the Asian Indian students are accounted for and are trying to find my cousin. If this fails greentea i will take u up on ur offer. Thanks so much!! My thoughts and prayers go out to those injured and those who lost love ones today.

I have not been able to get this off my mind since hearing about it this morning. DD is away at another college and I can't even imagine what the parents of these students are going through.

I called DD and told her I love her this morning. She hadn't heard about the shootings and thought I was nuts for just calling up to say "I love you". Of course she knows how much I love her, but I don't think a person can say it too many times. I hope I am never in the position of not being able to say it to my child again.

This is just so sad....
