With the no flip/flop rule, what do you wear shoe-wise to Palo? Every pretty pair of summer shoes that I have and wear with sundresses are thong design. I hate to have to spend $$ on a pair of shoes for this one meal, but it looks like I may have to.

They mean no rubber, beach style flip-flops. I have worn a thong style sandal like this without a problem.

I asked this (and a tipping question) just last month. Here is the thread, which may help you.

I ended up wearing these for brunch:

You'll be safe with what I'd call "dressier" sandals, including those that go between your toes.

Yes I asked this very question when on the boat. They just don't want you to were regular flip flops but if they are fancier type of sandal etc they are ok. I also found that it was more causal at brunch then dinner. Saw a lot of capri type pants on women Few dressed up in sundresses etc.

I wore nude flats, which go with (almost) anything. They were the one "not summery" shoe I brought on our cruise, to wear with dresses, jeans, or cropped pants if it was chilly indoors.

I buy Dexflex comfort flats from Payless; they are inexpensive and comfortable.

The other dressy shoes I brought on the cruise were a pair of Clarks wedge espadrilles. I would also think that boat shoes would be acceptable at Palo, and those can look very nice with dresses, skirts, and cropped dress pants.
