Shocking information at the playground!!

I'm not that old (32) but no one I knew was getting any tail in 8th grade. While I guess I would have been able to figure it out I would have stood there with a puzzled look on my face if given the chance.

Ah, but you're male. Most of the time the partner who is in the 7th-8th grade is female, and the boyfriend is a few years older. The sexually active girls I knew at that age would not have been caught dead dating a boy their own age; they were strictly after high school guys.

Now that part is news to me. I didn't know anyone who had this arrangement but it might have happened on the DL (I have wanted to use the DL for a while now) since it would seem a bit strange for a High Schooler to date an 8th grader.

When my husband was in residency (15 yrs ago) he delivered a 13 yr old! (Well, she turned 14 by the time she delivered but STILL!)
Wow. I've heard that some salamanders can have a three-year preganancy, but that's just crazy.

Yup. At our school, the 8th grade girls always blabbed about having a 10th or 11th grade boyfriend, while the older boyfriend denied, denied, denied.

sheesh, I should change my post title to NOT so shocking information at the playground

when I was in middle school and high school, only 1 girl got pregnant, ( that we knew of) it was in high school.

yesterday was the first time I heard of any pregnant girls around here like that. I am sure it is happening more and more.

how do we stop it? can we stop it? I guess just educating our kids on the subject.

Well, back in the day, girls were shipped off to special schools for pregnant girls and gave their babies up for adoption. We had a school like that in our school district so they would attend classes at our high school.

When I was pregnant with DS17 there was a 13 year old that was due around the same time--the poor thing had a 10 lb baby too :scared1:

OK the current rumor at my DD17's school is that a certain Senior boy was caught with his pants down with a certain 14 yo Freshman girl...so yes, it happens.

FireDancer - you are always good for a chuckle on a variety of subjects....

I was 14 when my sister had her first kid. Since she worked at walmart, after i got home from school, i would take him down there for all her co workers to ooo and ahhh over him. Since she was working, she was never around with me, and i got some of the most nasty stares from customers. Of course all the employees knew he was my nephew.

Since working at Disney, i don't assume any one is a parent to a child they are with. There's nothing wrong with an older relative (teenager) watching a youngerster. Who knows, maybe its a baby sitter.

Ha!:lmao:Okay, let me be clearer! The mom was 13 yrs old when she got pregnant and 15 yrs old when she delivered!:rotfl2:

Yep. Happened a lot at my school, unfortunately.

I.. am still quite confused.

A few weeks ago I dropped DD off at her middle school and there was a guy and a girl making out in the parking lot. You could tell the guy was much older than the girl. I asked DD about it when she got home and she was telling me that it was a girl in her health class and her boy friend was in high school with his own car. We were still talking about it when DS came in from college and he knew the guy and said it wasn't the first time he had been with a middle school girl. Another kid he knew was also dating an 8th grader when he was a senior.

I have to say, I am not really too shocked, because there were pregnant girls when I was in jr high school and this was the late 60's and early 70's. The difference was they had to leave school when they started to show and came back after the baby. Once I got into high school, pregnant girls were allowed to stay in school during their pregnancy and return after the baby was born. I graduated in 77 so it wasn't unusual even over 30 years ago in fact, I think there were more girls pregnant when I was in school than there are at my kids schools.

When I was in Grade 9, a girl in my grade got pregnant. She had the baby in November 1995, the month she turned 14. I can NOT imagine having a 15-year old son right now; it's hard enough taking care of myself! She could technically be a grandma at 29...

Anyone remember the hoopla when Spike from "Degrassi Junior High" had her baby at 14? As I remember, those were some intense episodes...

My little cousin and I both have 12 yr old sons (our first borns). The difference is I had my first child at 24 and she had her first child at 14.

She was very, very wild! Sneaking out and partying with older kids. She looked older then her age too. She told her secret BF that she was 17 and the BF was 20! Big brew-haha with the legal system as charges were brought against the BF by the school system. My cousin and BF had to get special permission from a judge to get married and to this day he has to register as a sex offender. They now have 3 children.

I am adopted and my biological mom was only 13 when she got pregnant with me and 10 days past her 14th bday when she had me. My bio dad was 15 when i was born.

My daughter is in 6th grade (11 yrs old) and one of the girls in her class has a boyfriend who is 16. I thought she was just trying to tell the kids in her class that but we were at the mall the other day and she was making out with him in the food court. It's crazy to think that they start that young.

I'm 42, and my birth mother got pregnant in 8th grade. She did turn 14 before I was born. My birth father was a junior in high school. So it was going on even back in 1966. People just didn't talk about it. And yes, my b'mom was "sent away" and her parents had to fight the school board to let her come back to school, even AFTER I had been born and placed for adoption. They suggested that she move to another school where "no one would know.":sad2:

We have 3 pregnant girls in our middle school here now. The school nurse has way more than she bargained for, having to take care of pregnant children. And yes, if you are 12, you are a child, even if you are pregnant.

I'm not sure it happens more now that it did back then, it's just that the girls stay in school so more people know. Also, most girls keep their babies now.

When I was a senior in high school, one of the guidance counselors taught my English class. He told our class that there were a known 60 girls pregnant in the high school - with 30 being freshman (9th grade).

It was pretty common for 8th grade girls to date high school guys when I was in school, it was also easy since our school was 7th-12th grade. I actually dated a senior when I was in 8th grade but he was a young senior so there was only actually 3 years between us, I was 14 and he was 17.

When I was in middle school, we had mixed grade gym classes. I was in the 7th grade and had gym with 8th grade girls. There was one girl in 8th grade who had to miss school because she went into labor to deliver her THIRD child. She was roughly 13/14. She bragged about it all the time.

When I was in 8th grade, there was a girl in my class who had previously had a child (in 6th or 7th grade, I can't remember) and one day she was in class talking about how she thought she had an STD from someone who went to the local community college.

ETA, when I was a high school senior, there were two pregnant girls in my homeroom of 10 people.
