Shirley Temple, former child actress, dies at 85

I loved watching her tap dance with Bill "Mr. Bojangles" Robinson.

RIP Shirley

I remember years ago showing "A Little Princess" to my niece and nephew when they were children. They were both absolutely entranced by it and by Shirley Temple.

She grew up in the spotlight and yet never used that as an excuse for acting out or doing bad things as an adult. She made her adult life count, and I will always admire her for that. RIP Shirley.

Well said!!!

Rest in peace, Shirley. She was beautiful.

I am saddened by this news. She
was a gifted actress, and a humanitarian. Rest in Peace, Shirley

My sentiments too. It was her popularity that I recall kept the Motion Picture Studio she worked for from bankruptcy.

I loved her films growing up, then my daughter was born and she became a huge fan of Shirley Temple. She is 24 and to this day she still orders Shirley Temple drinks when we go out. My daughter is an actress and when she was younger I borrowed Shirley Temples Moms line and told my daughter to "Sparkle" everytime she went onstage. She was such a huge positive influence to my daughter. And she was such a source of happiness when Americans really needed it.

her autobiography 'child star' is a great read, and she was very forthcoming in it on what her life in the industry was like as well as the choices she made as an adult (regarding keeping her private life private when it came to her children).

a very talented and intelligent woman.

This news is going to be hard for my mother, who is 88. She met her in Boston when they were young, and she was a lifelong fan.

I had a patient last week who was 88, and when I brought it up, all he could say was, "Everybody's Dead!". :scared:

So hard at that age.

RIP, Shirley, and thanks for the memories. :flower3:

An amazing woman.

She survived child stardom and became a respected US Amabassador to Ghana and Czechoslovakia.

I'm so sad about Shirley's passing. My youngest DD has a head full of ringlets and everyone calls her Curly Top. Her dance teacher has even said that when she gets old enough for competition, she is choreographing her a dance to Good Ship Lollipop.

Rest In Peace, Shirley. The world gained a wonderful angel today.

Just loved/love to watch her movies - so refreshing! My sis has most of her movies and I have lots myself - still enjoy seeing little curly top now and then. She was just such a sweetheart! :) Never another like her!

Too bad some of these young stars can't look to her as an example of what you can be - while young, and growing older.

She was a legend and a class act.
