Shirley, do you, or anyone else, remember Frank Wolfe's?

When I was a child, my family used to vacation in Cocoa every year and that was where we stayed. Now, I am bringing my family down (albeit for one night only before we hop on our first Dis cruise) and thought it would be neat to stay somewhere near where Franks' was. I understand that the motel was flattened in a hurricae several years ago.

Is there a new motel/hotel where the old place was? Is the DoubleTree anywhere close to where Frank's was?

Thanks,
Trav

Hello Trav,
How well I remember Frank Wolf's Beachside place from so many years ago.
He had a nice place, great prices and just a wonderful person with his customers. In fact I had forgotten about the place until you mentioned it.
Let me check it out in the next few days and I will be pack in touch with you and let you know exalty what happened OK?
BTW - I love your screen name -I LOVE MANGOS and they are finally in season - we have a place right in Merritt Island where we can pick them off the trees and then pay for them.
anyhow will be back with ya soon.
always
Shirley

I figured if anyone would remember the place it would be you!!

Thanks Shirley, I look forward to seeing whatever you come up with.

Trav

Hi Shirley

Were you able to find out anything about the old place?

Thanks,
Trav

Hey Trav,
I couldn't find this thread and I posted it somewhere, but I forgot where -
Anyhow the place is known as the Diplomat and it has been turned into? yep condos - Mr. Wolff is now very up in age and brought a place that is at the fork of Cocoa Beach (which was a glass bank at one time) and he completely renovated the very top of that huge and tall building into his own private quarters - he use to walk around Cocoa Beach quite a bit but due to his age, he now is quite satisfied living on top of the world and yes he still owns the property. I stayed there in the early 80's for 2 weeks with one of my foster girls and loved every moment of every day there.
Wish I could have told you it still "existed"
Always
Shirley

Thanks Shirley

Somewhat sad to hear he is getting that old...one of life's landmarks moving along farther than the memory has. Sometime's it's hard to keep everything current in your mind (at least it is for me).

I appreciate you taking the time to look into this.

Got any tips for a mom and pop type hotel/motel like old Frank's for us to stay at in Cocoa for a night pre-cruise? On the beach would be especially nice, but a short walk would be OK too.

Thanks again,
Trav

P.S. How were/are your mangoes this year?
