Shipping vs buying at disney

Hello all....

We are all set to leave for our trip on 9/28. This will be our first trip as DVC members.... We were going to order a few breakfast items through the disney grocer. I checked the prices online and they did not seem too expensive. We live in NY so compared to NY prices they did not seem too inflated.

I have read from a few posters that they have shipped items to their hotel. Specifically cases of water... I know that to buy a bottle of water at any of the parks is VERY EXPENSIVE. So I was thinking about buying a case of water and shipping it directly to the hotel. I wanted to know if anyone has ever shipped anything, and by what means (us postal service? I would assume, but not sure) Is it expensive to ship? and what other items have you shipped? Could I ship lets say (a box of cereal, package of english muffins) Obviously, I would not ship any perishable items. I am not sure how the items would hold up? I would secure them with bubble wrap etc. I would plan to ship on Monday for arrival on wednesday.

I know that I could just as easily use one of those shopper services and have it delievered to the hotel, however I know of a few people that have used the shopper services and have indicated that their orders have either taken forever to arrive or incorrect items were sent or missing. I would rather that my groceries are there waiting for me and I am not waiting for them.

Any suggestions or tips would be most welcomed.

Thanks

I have shipped things, but most were "comfort" items for longer visits that I didn't want in my luggage! Since I ship from Arizona, the cost of shipping offsets the price difference of heavier consumables.

Anything lightweight and non-perishable is good to ship. I would consider English muffins perishable--but I have to ship 2 weeks in advance, so that would make a big difference! I don't think it would be cost-effective to ship water.

I haven't used a grocery service at WDW yet (used it at home, but it's a bit expensive for non-emergency use), but as long as you don't expect them to deliver promptly upon your arrival, I would think they would be useful. You could purchase your initial supply of water at WDW until your order arrives.

Have you thought about ordering from Wegoshop? We did this for our first DVC trip this past June. We had them bring us two cases of bottled water, as well as breakfast and lunch items. Their fee is 15.00 plus the cost of the items we ordered. I feel that their service is great, and well worth it!

EDA: How in the world did I miss your last paragraph! :) Anyway, I did have a good experience with Wegoshop, and would definitely order from them again. I didn't looking into shipping because it seemed like to much of a hassle to me. Just my opinion. ;)

It would cost a fortune to ship a case of water!! I mean, to the point that it is probably about the same price as buying the bottles in the parks. Lighter weight things like bread and english muffins would probably be fine, but they aren't that hard to pack in your luggage either.
