Have you ever shipped supplies for your kids down to the resort. We are going with 2 yo DD and I am considering shipping her diampers, juice, etc. Did you have any problems with getting the supplies at the hotel? I am a little concerned because of Ivan, but if I ship Fed Ex in the next day or so I think it would be OK.

I have shipped things in the past. Diapers, swimmie vest, food, etc. I shipped via UPS or Fed Ex Ground and put our arrival date on the box and never had a problem.

why not just buy those things while you are down there? there are plenty of walmarts around and you would not waste valuable time shopping/shipping from home when you could be here on the DISboards ;)

Why waste time when you get down there hunting for the things you need and paying more for them?

Thanks for all your help. We are still considering if we really need to rent a car. I think I will box up everything here and just check it with our luggage then we can throw away the box when we get to the hotel. I stock up on everything at Sam's so I don't want to spend more $ than I have to. Plus, DD will be ready to get to the parks. I've already taught her to say Castle and Epcot, we are now working on Magic Kingdom!

I'd be careful about the liquids... I know friends that tried to ship juice and they did, but the bottles exploded on them.... So that wasn't good. So I would just get that down there. But I do agree with the box as being part of your luggage.. We do it all the time...

FYI.. So airlines make you sign a release form in case something happes to the box, it is not their responsibility.

we bought a smallish coleman cooler while we were down in wdw (during hurricane frances) and were allowed to check it w/our luggage coming back... we had some souvies and stuff in it and it arrived just fine... that may be more helpful than a box, as it is useful once you get there (unless you have home-away-from-home or rent a fridge) and would carry your extra supplies...

that being said, i don't really see a short 1/2 walmart run as a big waste of time... esp when planning for a hurricane it was a "must do" on our way from the airport!

Its a big deal if you decide not to rent a car. I can get a limo cheaper than a minivan (needed for our party of 6) and my DH found renting a car a huge hassle and source of worry.

I did mail a package down in Jan and it worked out great. I sent diapers, wipes, toys for plane ride home, and even a few extra clothes. I put some packing tape in the box and the hotel mailed the package home to us-full of dirty laundry while our suitcases held our purchases. I plan on mailing a package again this Oct even though I also plan to take advantage of a grocery stop with the limo. The limo won't do a stop if our flight is delayed and I can't risk not having diapers. As for just taking the box on the plane we've already got enough to take-stroller, car seats, 3 kids under 6. I'd much rather spend the $10 on postage and be less burdened at the airport.

I know that in the past we have ordered online from Goodings.com and had the groceries delivered to our room. You can order before you go and let them know what day and time you would like them delivered. There is a $10.00 delivery charge, but I'm sure you would pay more for shipping, and you would have the convience of not having to bring it on the plane with you!!!:wave2:

Wegoshop.com is another option to shop online and have your groceries delivered to you at your resort, on or off disney property. They charge a order and delivery fee of $15.00 and up, depending on how much you need to buy.:wave2:
