Shipping Luggage Via UPS/FEDEX

I am doing some comparisons, and it appears that shipping our luggage via UPS/FEDEX to WDW is a great alternative to checking our bags. Not only does it appear to be cheaper, but it seems much more convenient, we can get to the airport a little later, and I can rent a slightly smaller car.
Does anyone have any experience doing this? Pros/Cons.

Price the cost to ship 50lbs with UPS. It's generally more expensive the the cost to check a 50lb suitcase. Some hotels are starting to charge "package acceptance fees".

It may be more convenient to ship stuff. It doubt it will save money.
