Shipping Home from DVC Resorts

We will be taking our second trip "home" in June and I had a question about shipping packages home from DVC resorts. The last 2 times we stayed at AS resorts we got a box, put most of our souvenirs into it, sealed it up, took it to the front desk where they arranged to have it shipped home. None of the stuff was fragile so we sent it by the cheapest UPS (I think) method. The price was very reasonable (IMO). The adavantage was that we didn't have to find space in our luggage for all the souvenirs and we didn't have to lug the stuff through the airport. We like to travel light so the cost was worth it to us. Has anyone tried to do this from a DVC resort? How was the cooperation from the staff? The first time we did it at ASMU it was no problem. The second time it was more of a problem but we eventually got the cooperation we needed. Any experience or advice would be welcome.

Thanks

I've done that from OKW. They got a box for me from the store, provided materials to seal it up and had it shipped UPS right from the front desk. It was a painless process and, while I don't recall the cost, it was relatively inexpensive if I remember.

you should not have a problem at any DVC resort - they generally take customer service were seriously.

Good idea! But I don't think I could bring myself to ship Disney souvenirs. What if they got lost or misdirected or damaged???  Nope! If I need more room in the luggge, I'll be shipping dirty laundry! :p :p Hate to wash and fold clothes, anyway! ;) ;)

Thanks for the replies. CarolMN, you can insure the contents (we did) and frankly, we didn't ship anything of really great value. It was some bulky souvenirs we let my daughter purchase for herself, some t-shirts for us and as gifts for other folks, some books. I think there were a few things we actually wrapped in some "unwashed" laundry as a cushion (I know, yuck!!). Everything arrived safely and in good shape. And as said above, the cost wasn't that bad.

We ship one or two boxes home from each trip. We bring the boxes (flat in the bottom of the suticases), labels and tape with us. There's a small post office branch down the street from Crossroads. I don't have a map handy for the street names, but you take a left at the light at the end of Hotel Plaza Blvd, and it's a mile or so down the road on the right. It has a "US Post Office" sign at the road so you won't confuse it with the Mailboxes Etc that's nearby.

We try to mail in the mid afternoon, because the morning can be extremely busy with other vacationers mailing stuff! :jester:

last year. We were staying at the Boardwalk. They have a service in the conference center. Dropped off all our bags, we boxed them up and shipped them for us. Did a good job, everything was intact....including some fragiles.
