Before I get flamed, let me start by saying we are a family of 4 and are not trying to cheat the system. :thumbsup2 My 19 month old is to big for the "crib" they provide, but I don't know how he will handle sleeping in bed with someone else. We plan on putting him in a bed with bedrails, but were considering getting an airmattress for my 4yo. With checked bag fees being $25, has anyone ever shipped an airmattress?

I checked Wal-mart and they have $.97 shipping to home or even free. Any thoughts?

Edited to Add: If so, how early do you recommend ordering?

You could ask about trundle beds or what is available. You might also want to post where you're staying at.

We are at Pop so our options are more limited than a mod or deluxe.

How active of sleepers are your kids? What about putting them to sleep in separate beds, then either you and your husband each sleeping with a kid or moving the 4yo into the other bed.

I have to say that the beds at Pop are not queen sized, maybe barely double sized. My husband and I kept rolling on top of each other all night. I think the best night's sleep we had there was when I slept with DD (when she was 5 or 6) and having nightmares so I moved into her bed for the night. She moves, but didn't roll on top of me...

I actually brought an air mattress in my carry on luggage in Oct. The reason I did that is because when we go to familys house down the shore we bring my sons crib mattress and he sleeps on the floor. When we started talking about the Disney trip I kept telling my son he was going to sleep in a big bed but he insisted he was sleeping on the floor. Soo, off to Walmart I went and got an air mattress for like $12. I had a small air station that I brought as well.

As soon as we walked into the hotel room my son took one look at the big bed and said, "This is my bed" :lmao: SO, I lugged the air mattress back home and returned it. It really wasn't that heavy. To answer your question though, you could definitely ship it, I had a coffee pot shipped to POP last year.

We did something similiar last January. DD 14 did not really want to share a bed with DS10. In fact, no one wants to sleep with ds10. He is a very active sleeper. We bought a single air mattress that had a built in pump. It plugged into the wall for inflating. We decided we were going to ship it to our resort.

We actually ended up filling two rubbermaid totes with most of our stuff and shipped them to our resort. We arrived and the check-in cm told us that our stuff had arrived. Bell services brought it up when our room was ready. We pre-arranged for a package pick-up the day after we left. We brought the totes to bell services before we left and the shipper picked it up the next day. It was somewhat cheaper than paying baggage fees and was a whole lot less hassle.

We did ship the bins the Monday before our Sunday arrival to make sure they would get there in time. We tracked the packages and they arrived at the resort on Thursday. The packages were picked up on Monday and were on my doorstep on Friday.

We will be doing this again for our next trip and in fact purchased a much sturdier bin that will hopefully hold everything so we only need one.

Could you tuck your kids into opposite ends of the bed? When I was a kid and had to share a bed, we often would sleep at separate ends. Just a thought!

We love ours purchased from Amazon for camping, however sihpping to the resort is the easy part ~ what about getting it home?

We haven't needed to do this w/ the girls lately but you used to be able to slid the bed against the wall & we just got 2 bed rails for the other side ~ actually gave them lots of slepping room.

Until recently my DD11 has been using the air mattress I have brought each year (at POP mostly). This year my DM said she could sleep with her, she wouldn't mind. Aren't grandmas nice?:goodvibes

Anyway when we did bring the bed down I put it in my checked luggage and it didn't take up too too much room. I have twin size from Target. I think it only weighs about 3-4lbs. Also packed the small pump as well. If I was flying on an airline that didn't allow any free luggage (I know fly SW exclusively thanks to the no fees for 2 pieces per person, used to fly Delta) then I would pack it in a carry on. With 4 people you should be allowed 4 personal carry ons ( like purses, laptop bags, etc.) as well as 4 additional carryons. An airbed will fit in a carry on sized piece of luggage.;)

No flames here. You're not trying to cheat the system since you only have 4 in a room and since POP doesn't have roll aways the airbed is a great solution.

Before we had the airbed what we did with DD (when she was smaller she was a bed hog and would move around way too much for either of us (DM, DGM) to sleep with) was we would make her her own bed on the floor, between the 2 beds. We would get extra sheets and blankets and make her a nice pad on the floor. Using the bedspread folded makes a nice soft mattress. She also had her own blankie. It worked out well since she could use the shelf under the nightstand for her stuffed animals, LPS, and books. In fact, when we bring the airbed we still jam it in between the 2 beds. Just have to make sure I don't get out on that side of the bed at night.:scared1: Also, she likes being as close to us as she can get.

It think I only paid $10 for the airbed and $5 or $10 for the pump at Target many years back. A great purchase.;)
