Does anyone know if Magic has a nebulizer machine? My son rarely needs a treatment & would hate to bring the machine if they have one I could use. Also would they charge me to use the machine if I bring my own meds & set up?
thank you

I don't know for sure, but I would guess they would. And again, a guess, but YES, they would charge you. Most likely, you'd have to see the dr before being allowed to use the machine, and you might not be able to provides your own meds in their machine. I also doubt they'd allow you to use the machine yourself, since it basically is a "public" machine they'd have to ensure cleanliness, correct usage, etc. So, I know how much of a pain it is to drag the nebulizer when it rarely is needed (my DS has asthma), but it probably could save you a lot of money if your DS needed a treatment.

I agree, maybe you could call and double check on the fee if he did need to use theirs. Is it one of those things where if you don't have it you will need it... you know how that goes. My son uses his nebulizer rarely and I did not bring it on the cruise and did not need it. My DH used the Dr. on the Wonder. They thought he might have Kidney Stones - but that was incorrect. We never did figure out why he was in pain, but he got better. Yes the visit was expensive. If I remember right it was around $200.00 all said and done.

I cruised last April. My son rarely uses his
nebeulizer but I did bring it. I called DCL prior to cruising and they suggested I bring my own. I carried it on the plane accompanied with a brief note from my son's doctor stating it was medically necessary for him to travel with it. I didn't want to alarm the baggage screeners at the airport. I felt better having it with me just in case. He never did use it. :)

Yes they do. We were on the 2/14/04 magic and my mom had two attacks. they first night while they diganosed what was wrong and put her on that (she has broncitis, asthma and epeszima (spelling is so wrong) that bill ran 240 and the next day she went down just to do a treatment on the machine and that ran 90. Insurance covered 80% the people in the office were outstanding!!

an RN i work with had the same problem. She was told it would be $200, and $300 in the middle of the night.

ANYONE with asthma and allergies should bring medications when going to a new environment.

i say bring your own nebulizer, you just never know when you'll need it. a few cruises back i had thought of leaving it behind because my daughter was doing very well in her breathing and i didn't want to be bothered carrying it around the whole trip but deceided at the last minute to bring it, well i was very glad i did as castaway cay in july can be very hot and it triggered a major asthma attack. we had tried visiting the infirmary as we boarded the ship to take a short cut to getting her the treatment but the office was closed. thank god for the very nice man that helped me get my daughter back to our room so she could use the neb. we have lugged it around on many vacations since then and feel alot better knowing that it's available if needed.

they make a fairly small nebulizer now (our original was form 1998 and large) and we bought one for our cruise last fall. It's about the size of a cigar box (thicker, but no wider/longer) and my son used it daily. You might ask your local pharmacy and/or ped. if you could rent one for 10 days or so if you own a larger one and don't want to carry it

Thank god my son outgrew needing the nebulizer, but we ALWAYS took it with us on every trip, just in case.
I would suggest taking it, it is far easier to give a treatment in the cabin.......we even had to give treatments to our son in the airport between flights, so that might be something to consider too.

We have ours packed. The last vacation we went to the ocean (PEI) and the sea air was a hugh trigger. Just for the peace of mind. It's worth the space. :earsgirl: :earsboy: :jester: :sunny:
