You sound like me, making decisions based on the "pretty" factor. :rotfl2:

I don't know a whole lot about the DVC configurations and such, but I know that AKL is your best bet if you want DVC and CL, but do they not offer a 1 bdrm at Jambo??? I just don't know anything about it.

And, you can still use the Kidani pool even if staying at Jambo...

I dunno, you've got time. :goodvibes

Yes, they do have 1 BDRMs at Jambo, but the configuration isn't as good as Kidani...there is an extra bathroom at Kidani -- so nice when you have 4 trying to get ready in the morning. I'm not sure if Jambo rooms have the king bed in the Master or not..... Kidani does for sure. Also, the views I think seem better at Kidani for DVC, anyway. We could try both pools, true -- but last time we stayed at AKL, we just used the pool at Jambo, it's a pain to hop a shuttle and go over just to swim at Kidani, then hop the bus wet and go home to change -- I'd rather just use the pool at whatever blg we are staying at. I'll have to get some more reviews and see how people like Jambo DVC rooms! it's such a different box looking into DVC! it's quite confusing and a whole new learning curve, luckily I love to read about Disney though, so I'll look forward to hearing anyone's input if you've stayed at either Kidani or Jambo or both :)

Candace - Great news in the refi!!!! Definitely nice around the holiday season! So thinking about the YC CL, and I could be wrong but I don't think there is any magnificent view from there. So if you don't want to be tied down to the food offering hours why not compromise with the water view at YC and place an order with garden grocer or another delivery service. I guarantee the drinks and snacks you order will be less than the cost to upgrade to CL. Yes, you won't have the hot apps, but again use the money saved to walk into the WS and get something yummy whenever you desire. The dresser under the tv is great size and I set it up as our snack/food area. I definitely missed that counter space at WL.

Yeah, I would only have a standard view YC CL, unless I went completely bonkers and sprung for the LV YC CL...:faint:

I guess I just feel that if I am spending extra $$ I should be "getting" something for it...and I know my family will spend about 2 seconds on the balcony staring at our expensive view...:rotfl2:

At least with CL, there is some tangible value in it....but taking the LV would get us in to the YC...am I willing to pay extra just to be in there??? Especially when I get all of the same stuff by staying at BC for $550 less...

That, my friends, is the crux of the problem.

Well you are definitely the only one who can answer what is worth to you and your family. We loved watching Illuminations from the balcony and the kids actually went out in the balcony a lot when we were in the room. Is YC worth $550 over BC, probably not. Is the view worth it, maybe? Oh and remember not all the BC rooms have full balconies. Is that important to you?

It's my request for BC "full balcony", but if we didn't get it, I wouldn't really care...even with my amazing view of the castle at WL, we didn't sit out on the balcony. If I wanted to see the castle, I opened the curtains and said HI!! :lmao:

I'm kind of talking myself into staying at BC here. I really ought to just change our ressie to POR - and then Disney will owe me money!!! :rotfl2:

BC gets us the Epcot area...see, my girls LOVE MK, DHS, and Epcot all equally, so being within walking distance to two is fabulous!!!

I do think the BC rooms are pretty. My kids like alot of action, so the BC lobby will probably be great for them...

For now, I think I will just stick with BC....I guess....

Talked myself into it even further....BC GV saves us $1000. I have been toying with the idea of a late June trip just me and my girls on the cheap...$1000 could certainly take care of alot of that trip....

One more trip before those AP's expire in July.....:rolleyes1

Hi Guys .... been a very busy afternoon... had to get a filing out.. :)

Where are we?? Oh the daily dilemma for our Pas....:goodvibes

Pas cannot seem to post, although she can log in .... werid :confused3

That Pas is amazing!!! I'd vote for Osborne lights, I think they are magical!
What a deal on the car...maybe the good news is that it runs, the bad news is it's powered the same way Fred Flintstone powers his. :rotfl:

Ginny...This is hilarious!! :rotfl2: yaba...daba..doo!!

Ohhhh, I love Grinchmas!!!!! Even though I do LOVE the Osborne Lights, I wouldn't buy a 1 day tix just to see them, especially when I could be enjoying Universal!

Melissa... sound advice... Pas are you reading?? :teeth: this is MY vote too!!

Much more relaxing to stay at US, have a full day at the park and come back for snacks.... HRH will be happy ... :)

I'm looking for a rental car for January .... cheapest I can find is $15 .... oh Dis Daughter of mine where or where did you find $13???? Help your poor old mama out! :rotfl2:

GG ...do you think Pas RC'd on the car company as much as the resort on this trip?? :rotfl2: maybe the ressie got discombobulated and numbers starting spewing out ... if so she may have several cars waiting or none ....:scared1: ... :)

It's really a toss up. For cool/cold weather months I would pick WL ... just such a warm cozy feeling. But for warm/hot months it would be AK for me .... nothing better than the 2 pools at that resort. Call me crazy but I would go with AK pools over SAB! I just wasn't that impressed with SAB when we stayed at BC ... now remember we were all adults ... with kids SAB might be better. :confused3
I also like the pools at GF but until the DVC is completed I'll never be able to afford to stay there! Poly pool ... not a fan.

My favorite parks are Epcot and HS so neither of my favorite resorts are very convenient! But then again it's vacation so I'm never really in a rush to get anywhere!! :rotfl2:

Between you and chimo2u, I'm really feeling the need to get over to AKL. Probably in 2014 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Ok, I am adding a split stay idea to my list of options, lol. Right now we are booked w/free dining, upgraded to deluxe dining. How does that work with split stays? We don't drive down so sometimes I wonder if a split stay would be more hassle than it's worth.

Sent from my GalaxyS II

I agree with GG. Splits aren't the best for free dining. I don't find the move itself to be a hassle though although some people do. I think we are just used to organized chaos. :lmao:

The latest and thegreatest from Pas…. she is not ready to abdicate her throne SO .... another change from our Queen :worship: :flower3:

2 nights Royal Pacific CL… (11/13 & 11/14) for Despicable Me and Seuss

1 night POR RR ….(11/15) For Christmas party …

She got an amazing deal on a rental car - $13/day!! (but Pas, will it RUN?? :rotfl2:)

Two options ...

(1) Drive over to Disney in the evening on 11/14 for Osborne Lights which means a 1 day tix for the girls (she has an AP)... OR

(2) Stay at US ... more park time there ... enjoy the snack room longer (I can see HRH giving an affirmative and responding YES!! ::yes::)

WWYD?? Hopefully Pas can read this off her phone for your comments!!

Wow. Tough call. I like Osborne lights even more then MVMCP and the castle lights, but I don't know if I'd pay a whole day's park admission just to do it. :confused3

Ok, did a little more research on BC, also added in YC. I am definitely feeling one of these! For those of you who have stayed at BC and YC, which one did you prefer and why?

Sent from my GalaxyS II

I prefer YC for basically the same reasons the others posted. It's much more serene and quiet! Plus, if balconies are your thing, you are better off at YC since BC only has them in about half the rooms.

I think sticking with BC sounds like a good idea. We are not very into balconies and I don't care much about the view unless it is for guaranteed fireworks view. I'm obsessed with fireworks :rotfl2:

Even more reason to stick with BC! :thumbsup2 Great job on the refi too, btw! :goodvibes I need to look into it again I think.

I'm only obsessed with Disneys fireworks....especially WISHES!!!!

However, I am one of those odd ducks that likes being right there on Main St watching it...or sitting around the lagoon at Epcot watching IllumiNations....seeing it from afar when I could be right there...just doesn't do for me.

I still watch them on YouTube though....gotta do what I can when I am home. :rotfl:

Janet - it is amazing how much they grow up :( she looks great as Hermoine though!!!

You speak the truth!! ... Thanks Melissa! :goodvibes

Thankfully we have our Dec weekend to test out CR :) DH said even though he definitely felt more magic at YC, he thought he would be comfortable at CR even though he felt like he was in an airport ;) For whatever reason the kids are really drawn to the decor there. I guess time will tell. Thank goodness I reservations at both resorts, LOL!!!!

As for the CL, I keep telling myself it would be fun to do, but I just don't know how much we will get out of it. We drive, so I bring a case of water, soda, juice and milk for the kids. The continental breakfast items are okay but again I usually bring bagels and cream cheese with me.

An airport feel, huh?? :upsidedow Well at least he didn't say toaster!! (that's waht CR kind of looks like to me from the outside ...) But I do love the decor as well, and would definitely like to stay there one day...:)

If the kids are diggin' it, sounds like they will be happy .... why not do YC CL when you do a couples trip?? :)

Beautiful then and now!

Thanks I-Heart.... it's unbelievable how fast they grow up.... sigh ... :)

I love split stays!!! :rotfl2:

REALLY? I didn't know that! :rotfl2:

Janet- love the pic of your daughter

Pas- hang in there...it won't be long now

Hopefully, school tomorrow. There is one part of town that still has lines down.

Thanks DTG :goodvibes Hope the kids have school tomorrow! Sam went back today and will do tomorrow, then has off on Mon/Tue due to conferences and election day.:)

Split stay is not a good option when staying on free dining ... you would have to buy 2 sets of tickets .... of course you could always save the extra tickets for your next visit but ......

DznyCrzy11... As our expert Split Stayer so succinctly stated :rolleyes1 :) FD is not a good fit for split stays, because of the tix issue, however, as an alternative, book a package and room only ressie ...do the FD for however many days you would like, then switch to a RO with a discount hopefully... you have until midnight of check out day to use dining credits .... maybe if you do FD/DLX plan first, having a few days off the meal plan might be nice ... maybe enjoy CL on your room only reservation and pay OOP for a few days ... how does that sound? :goodvibes

Hey Pas- 17 utility trucks just boarded cargo planes and are on their way to Jersey from CA... won't be long now.

As much as I love the Osborne lights probably would not do a day at the studios just for it, but I'm not a Universal girl.

Hallelujah...schools back in tomorrow- of course they get election day and the 12 th off for Veterans day but thats another story.

We have only stayed at the MK resorts so I am not one to ask on the YC/BC front - although we love cape may buffet

MM, if you are odd, so are we!! :upsidedow We like being in the thick of it as well ... watching wishes from main street or Illuminations from around the countries, we like to be immersed in the magic!. :goodvibes

My 2 cents& keep the BC, by your own words, you did not take advantage of CL on your last trip, seem to remember you like being in the parks and that you missed CL times ... why not skip CL this trip and save for a possible girls trip and/or do some special events while you are there in April &. Did you make a decision on the Royal Birthday package for DD? :goodvibes LaNouba might be great for you all!!

Oh, congrats on the re-fi!! :dance3:

DetTigsGal.... :woohoo: School's IN!!! :dance3:

Janet your daughter looks like a beautiful Hermoine! yes, sigh...they do grow up way too fast. I can't believe Josh,/ my oldest will be 21 in June! :'( where did my baby boy go!?? my youngest graduates in 2014 -- that will be my next trip, a grad trip for him and his DGF. He's 16/ so I don't have long until he's all grown up too!!! :(

As to the split stay, I can see your idea working....but for me, I only stay 6 nights total, so that's hard to do a split stay with.....I'm not one to want to pack up and move, I'd like to hunker in for my 6 nights. I played around today pricing as if I was going this January.....BWI with basic ddp and 6 day hoppers for the 4 of us would be $5700 -- that's the deluxe cl room.
Kidani for the same time and deluxe dining would be about $6800, if I wanted deluxe dining for my BWI stay, it would be around $6800 too -- so I've got some saving to do!

DH voted a definite YES on the birthday package, so I will definitely be arranging that. :goodvibes

I think we will definitely be skipping CL this time around. With Test Track being back open and all the great new Fantasyland stuff, I can only imagine we'll be in the parks even more! :thumbsup2

I think they're sending more than that .... I heard that PG&E here is sending 60 trucks with driver teams so they can drive 24 hours a day!!! Must have heard that our RC Queen needs her power so she can keep cha cha changing!!! :rotfl2:

I heard that Disney is deploying their own disaster recovery team since all of the CMs are bored without her being able to call...:rolleyes1

Just realized that my BC reservation has lasted over 1 month!!!! It's meant to be!! :dance3:

When I was over reading the BWI thread I saw some posts of yours about changing to BWI CL. I did a quick double take before I remembered I was catching up from the last time I read that thread over the summer. :lmao:

A month is a pretty long time for a RCer to hold a ressie! :thumbsup2

Yay for the trucks en route to NJ! :goodvibes Anybody heard from Sarah lately?

Oh boy....yeah, the was awhile ago. I changed from that because besides the fact that I hate clowns...I didn't like that the drinks were kept cold in a bucket with ice instead of a fridge. I'm wierd, I know. :rotfl2:

Howdy RC Friends

Just wanted to stop by to say hello.

Janet thanks for updating us on Jeanette's recent change. I hope those crews get to Jersey and work some Magic Quick!

Power is coming back to friends and family here in Ct. But not quickly enough :sad2:

I feel so bad for those still without power and pray everyone is keeping warm with these cold nights.

Possible Noreaster coming next week, I sure hope not! :grouphug:

We have power! The next town still dark...my babies are warm. Back to regular pjs.....hugs
