We haven't done it but have done CRT on DD's bday. She was really spoiled with bday desserts and cards. We had already done BBB so no tiara needed. I don't know if the $100 is worth it. I think she will feel plenty bday magic without it.

Yeah, we had youngest DD's 3rd bday at CRT and I remember them making a big fuss over her. :goodvibes

Maybe I'll look around for tiara's and can set up my own thing...but the cakes do look great!!! And I do have that extra $1000 by not booking CL...:rotfl2:

I hope so!!! I am actually thinking about doing the "Her Royal Highness" package at CRT...it's about $100 but she would get a special bday balloon, crystal tiara, and an awesome 6 inch princess cake!! Does anyone have experience with this? Is it worth it?

I was going to do that for DD6's birthday...IMHO TOTALLY WORTH IT!!! :thumbsup2

Long day....on the road by 6am, checked in at WL at 9ish. Room wasn't ready which we expected but no biggie, left the bags with bell services and headed to Epcot. Oh and through this time DH tells me how he forgot how unimpressed he was with WL the last time we were there. Wish he had remembered that tidbit before today ;)

At about 10:30am we got a text saying our room was ready and to stop at the front desk, but no room number???? Then at lunch out KTTW didn't work. In between parks we headed back to WL to unpack a bit and regroup. I basically had to check in all over again, which was frustrating. The CM didn't know what happened either. I also had new keys issued and were assured they were good for charging.
Got exactly what we ended up booking after having to change the weekend, inner courtyard BB room on the 4th floor.

Once in the room the kids now inform me that they didn't want BB...well tough, this is what they picked and the resort is full. As I am unpacking I hear an announcement that they will be testing the fire alarms....okay hurry up time for us and our Aspie son!!! Well we didn't make it out in time and the alarm went off for a solid 10-15 minutes before we were far enough not to hear it. Piercing, screeching sounds that even hurt my ears.

Finally make it to MK. I hand DH his KTTW and he takes the kids for frozen lemonades by Thunder Mtn as I stand in line for a Dole whip. Have I mentioned how hot and crowded it is today, lol! So I get to the counter and hand the CM by KTTW and you know she tells me I can't charge anything it is over the charging limit. Really???? So I know the next thing about to happen...sure enough DH calls me to tell me the same thing happened with his card and of course that is all he has on him. Thankfully the CM felt so bad she gave my kids the frozen lemonades for the inconvenience. Soooo nice of her and made DH really happy!!! So at this point I am beyond frustrated and called the number on the card. I am told there was no phone number in the record so I couldn't charge??? What, they already texted me today?

So a few more rides and over to FW we go for dinner at TE. We check in and were given a pager an told 5 minutes. After 15 I go back up to the podium and ask how much longer, and of course we were seated immediately, with so many empty tables. Now DH is in a mood, DS is melting down, and you know dinner can't go well from there. First thing the kids see is that there is no ice cream machine, of course, it's broken. DH hems and haws about how bad the food and service is and says he has no interest in ever coming back to FW and to cancel our ADR for TE and the golf cart for Dec.

DH and the kids are so unimpressed by WL, DH says I spoiled him with YC. He is even afraid CR won't live up to YC. He really loved the Epcot resort area and so much to do right there. I happen to like it here but do feel the room size difference.

After going back to MK for a while I hit my pain threshold and the kids were starting to meltdown so back we came at about 10pm. No way can we do the dessert party next time, my kids (and DH) won't make it.

They are all asleep as I sit here in the room (afraid going on the balcony will disturb them) writing this and sipping a nice strong drink.

DH wants me to change Jan from CR to YC. I told him lets go check out CR tomorrow and decide then. We will still do CR in Dec, but he is thinking he wants to be at YC for our long trip.

I am feeling like I let everyone down this trip and after so much planning it is hard to not to feel guilty. Oh well, we are still in Disney and tomorrow is a new day and I plan on letting everyone sleep in!

Sorry for the rant/vent but you ladies are the only ones who will understand my frustrations.

Hugs to you all!

I think the steak looks good at BOG, but for me, I just want to be in there!!! Beauty & the Beast is tied with Little Mermaid as my favorite Disney movie, so I am BEYOND excited about BOG! :dance3:

When my oldest was a sophomore he played Maurice in his high school production...as it opens officially when we are there, he wanted to go, but the younger one doesn't like anything on the menu. I think I've talked him into the pork shank for this trip!

I finally got DH and DS up about 9:30 or so and we are on the bus heading to AK. Then maybe a quick stop at DHS then back to WL to swim before we head off property for dinner. Then DS has requested Ghiradelli for dessert and a stroll through the Lego store since we haven't been since it was remodeled. I think today should be a great day!!!!

 Melissa, I totally understand your frustration after all that planning, and hoping for perfection -- everyone keeps going back to what they know and love. My boys weren't wowed by the Poly-- YES, it was nice, but they kept saying how they love AKL CL so much more. well, sorry, we couldn't fit all of us in a AKL room, if we could have, I'd have definitely gone there. there where some ups and downs on my trip, which i think led me to questioning if I even wanted to go back again when I got home. Thankfully, that didn't last long, and DS16 has said he wants to go back again after his graduation in 2014 to show his DGF The World and Universal. So, it looks like I'll have one more trip at least. I'm already stressing on what resort to choose, :rotfl: BWI DLX room is probably on the list, but I am also scouring reviews looking for ways to stay at AKL with 3 different sleeping options! It might mean staying at Kidani in a 1 BDRM , but that means NO CL :sad2: BOOOOO!!!! and no daily maid service (Kidani is DVC) -- and i love my daily mousekeeping ;) so I just don't know. I truly hope things look up for you this morning and your family starts to feel some WL LOVE! It's so hard when the family isn't on board, and it makes you question all those months of long planning to make it perfect....don't question yourself too hard, melissa, it's hard to get so many different tastes onto the same page! But when you do, perhaps it is best to stay with what's familiar :thumbsup2 then at least there is one less stressor with people happy about where they are staying! If DH and kiddos love YC, I say, make that your home base for longer trips...I like your idea of trying something new for your shorter trip, if you hate it , at least you aren't there for long  hope today is much brighter and happier all around! :cheer2:
Have FUN! :cheer2:

MM: YEAH :cheer2: for getting wonderful ADRS -- they look amazing. I wish I hadn't given up my yachtmans steak house ressie on my trip, I didn't get a good steak my whole trip! next time, yachtmans is a definite must do for me. Great news on scoring Be Our Guest. I am looking forward to hearing how you like it! Every one raves about Via Napoli, Andrew loves pizza, perhaps I should make that a must do next time too! I tried to make Andrew look at DisneyLand for his grad trip in 2014, to save some money, as we are on the West Coast of Canada....but he said no way, he wants to show his DGF WDW and Universal! So it looks like saving for Florida again -- at least I have 2 yrs to do it, and they are going to contribute at least $1,000 each too, so that will help. I hope to get DH on board to come with me. My DS (Josh) who'll be 22 by then will hopefully be out on his own, or being trusted to care for the house. DH has never been to Universal, so I'd love to share that with him. We found out we really don't care for the Universal side of things -- we all love Islands of Adventure the best. That might mean shortening that part of our stay to 2 days instead of our normal 3 -- but we shall see....I do love the Universal Resort, especially HRH, have always thought about trying Portofino Bay too, but it's so far away from everything! I am so excited for you and your April trip -- you are so lucky to have young ones to share it with :) our BEST trip was our first in January of 2008 -- the boys where 11 and 15, and we took DH there to share his leave block from Afghanistan. We stayed CL at AKL, and I don't know if it was the magic of having our DH/DDad home safe for his leave, or just first trip magic -- but nothing has ever lived up to that trip! We all where wishing DH didn't have to go back to Afghanistan so we could add on a few more days and stay longer!!! The memories of that trip can bring tears to my eyes, we where all just so happy. no bickering, no one knew ahead of time what the rides where about -- it was all a time to explore together. I wish every time could be so special!

Oh Marie...you had such an emotional trip.
I can't imagine my girls being all grown up and ready to step out on their own. I think that's why I am so adamant about doing as many trips as we can while they are young and still "ours". I was so excited when DD8 said she wanted to have her birthday meal at CRT...I didn't think my big almost 9 year old would really want to do that meal anymore, but she does...I almost cried...

Well, off to see Hotel Transylvania. The girls are super excited!! :dance3:

I know what you mean about enjoying it while they are young. I really want our May trip with DH and I but part of me wants to take the kids on March Break. I priced out March 7-13 POR with dining on the stay play and dine promo and it gives me a great price of $3200! But ...flights are too pricey even with my credit applied.:scared1: And DH said he really wants to do our adults only weekend. Hmmmm....if only we could do both! And November too!

Hi Lacey :goodvibes

I've looked at the photos, and Yes, the villa rooms look very outdated, especially compared to the Inn side! The Villas have that ugly bedspread, and the pics seem to show quite a bit of wear and tear on the furniture and on the room overall .... the INN rooms look much crisper and cleaner, the beds have the linens instead of the ugly bedspread...I don't think I'd want to stay in a Villa Side room. Have you thought about the Deluxe room at BWI?? that is one I am looking at for our next trip.
Hope things have been good for you since coming home!! You where so sweet, I loved meeting you, and only wish we had more time to spend together. Perhaps we'll get to meet up again one day :)
Marie
I did look at the deluxe rooms because I think CL would be nice for this trip. However, if we do 3 couples in one room, we need two bathrooms. Honestly, I think we should just all get our own room. It will be nice to have time together but then our own place to retire to in the evening. Let's just hope for a 30% discount!

Still posting from my Kindle. I was not overly impressed with the BWV room. We were only in a studio so maybe the larger units are nicer. I just also didn't get the same comfy feeling that I do at VWL or AKV. Now don't get me wrong I love the location and will probably stay there again especially for F&W ..... it's just off my list to purchase points at. Today my thought is to buy points at AKV but we check into VWL tomorrow so I could be changing my mind again! I will say that for warm weather stays my very favorite is AK ... love both pools there. Also a one bedroom will sleep 5 ...... or 4 with 2 teenagers in separate places.
I think all the BWV rooms might just be due for a refurb!

Basketlacey: Hi! I just looked at airtran prices for May...shockingly expensive!!:faint: Making me sad just looking at them, I had such high hopes for a good deal! I guess I will be holding out hope for a super sale email from Airtran, and a pin code for May from Disney in my inbox! Hey a girl can dream right???;)

We will get there for this adults only trip....somehow!! :headache: When are you planning for???

We are planning October for food and wine. So I have almost a year to find a good deal!

Ah, balcony time! Me, my iPad, and a drink. Wow, you must all think I am an alcoholic ;)

Thank you again ladies for always being my sounding board and Disney support group ;)

Yes, Marie, I think YC will become home base for us, but we will see how we feel after CR. I am glad you have another trip to plan and am sure you will figure out what is going to work out best and how to keep CL and mousekeeping ;) have stayed away from the villas due to price and sleeping arrangements. If I win lotto I will book a 2BR at BLT :)

Much better day today, no unpleasant surprises, lol! We kept it simple....AK, swimming, dinner and Ghiradelli. Kids were exhausted (even after sleeping in) and were falling asleep in the car on the way back from downtown. Sound asleep in the bunks by 9:45pm. Still no love for WL from them though. DD loved the slide and went down about 20 times but otherwise they complained the pool was lame compared to SAB, well duh! LOL!!! We mentioned tomDS about changing Jan to YC and he was not happy. So we will see how we feel after our CR stay in Dec.

Tomorrow morning we are starting in DHS (since we didn't make it today due to numerous rides on Expedition Everest and Primeval Whirl) for a few quick rides then over to MK for LTT lunch ADR and more rides. My thought is to then take the monorail to CR, peak around a bit, then ferry back to WL to head home.

DS thanked us at dinner tonight and told us how much he appreciated this trip and all we do for him, I almost cried!!!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! I'll catch up own personals once I get home.

But at least at the pool you probably ordered your drinks from a bar, not made them from the bottle you brought with you ;)

Has anyone stayed TPV at Poly? If so, do you think it's worth the additional cost?

Sent from my GalaxyS II

Yes I just did Poly TPV and I definitely think the TPV at Poly is worth any cost. :lmao: It took my breathe away every day when returning to the room and every morning when I awoke. Poly TPV gives that amazing wide open view with GF and CR also in the "big picture" with the castle. That said, I am also very happy with all my stays at different Resorts and price points like STD, GV or CV rooms. It just depends on the purpose of the trip, and the budget at that time.

As for me... I am feeling much better now after a very nasty bacterial infection that I learned I've had for some time. My Dr admitted Thursday that she wanted to hospitalize me a few weeks ago when she first saw me. I never knew I was feeling bad until now that I can't believe how great I feel.

I am happy to say DH and I got back into golf again. We used to play very often. We've lived on a golf course for 2 years now and hadn't played our home course yet. :scared: Life being as busy as ours owning our business only allows so much free time. Priorities, priorities...

As for RCing: We received the invite for the New Fantasyland preview, but decided there was not enough reason to go. We'll just wait til the hard open. It will be more fun with thousands of our closest friends. ;)

WDW called me yesterday to tell me Olivia Newton John cancelled for the Candlelight the weekend of Dec 14, so I will probably cancel that ressie. But we still have Doogie Howser and Trace Atkins nights Candlelight Package ressies. Candlelight is my favorite Christmas event at WDW and we usually go a couple different times. :santa:

I am finally getting excited to plan for WDW in November.   I just wasn't feeling it while it was still so hot here. :sad2: We'll go right after we get back from our cabin for Thanksgiving.

Hi Melissa :goodvibes Glad to hear that things are looking up :) and you are still having lots of fun together in the World. I just realized you live in Florida :thumbsup2 I was wondering how you lucked out to get to WDW so often! :rotfl: nice perks of living in the State of the Mouse's House! :thumbsup2

Well, I'm starting to think about my son's Grad trip.....I have been researching resorts, and I have pretty much decided that our trip will either be Late Oct 2014/ mid NOV if there are discounts, or Mid/ end Jan 2015, as my birthday is Jan 29 too, and Jan is usually well priced with free dining or discounts.

I've also decided I'd like to do a 1BDRM at KIDANI. My family loves AKL, so I know KIdani will fit the bill....it has the pull out sofa for DS and the pull out chair for DS GF....a king bed in the Master for DH and I :thumbsup2 and 2 bathrooms!!! With a whirlpool tub for tired bones at the end of the day. I am sure we could get some light breakfast food like they serve in CL and do light breakfast in the room. I have never stayed without CL, but I like the layout and look of the rooms better than DVC at AKL/ Jambo house. And the views of DVC Jambo are not the best, roofs get in the way sometimes. It will be weird to not have CL, but I think we could try Deluxe Dining then. I would probably book CRO and try to find my own discount either % off or free dining because I like daily housekeeping and don't want to pay $45-$50 a day for it!
I really think Kidani will work for us this time. and I know my family will be happy at AKL area.....Kidani is first picked up at the bus too, and has a fun slide at the pool. Just for fun, I priced out THIS JAN with 35% off room deal....with deluxe dining for 4, park hoppers and WPM added on (I'd like to do one day at typhoon lagoon next trip) -- 6 days/nights at Disney ....was about $6500 , ($1 000 more than i paid for POLY CL GV basic free dining). I have two yrs to save......so that's good! I also won't do all the add ons like Discovery Cove, Blue Man Group, MNSSHP, eliminating those three things is a savings of approx $1300 -- we will still do 3 days at Universal, or perhaps cut it to 2 days since we love IOA a lot and not too keen on Universal side.

Those who've rented points before, what are your thoughts of that? I'm Leary because I prefer to rent from someone trustworthy....also, renting allows for no changes in dates, etc....., lastly the housekeeping thing, it's only once every 4 days......I'm fine making my own bed, but love lots of clean towels and go through a lot of soaps/ shampoos! Also don't want to have my trash emptied only after 4 days! I guess I've been spoiled by CL :rotfl:.....I Also want to add on the dining plan......

I am happy to have figured out a resort though, that's half the battle! Now to hope there are still good discounts in 2014/15 :thumbsup2

I am slightly excited about our trip we had a few unexpected expenses so I talked Bob into downgrading our room to Std since the cost difference payed to upgrade To DxDP as we are doing couple of 2 cr meals it just made sense.

We will have to meet up, I dropped our CP at Le Cellier so I guess we won't be running into each other there :sad2: kept Whoopie instead

Talk soon
