Home sweet home, happy and sad at the same time :upsidedow Today was a pretty good day. As we were walking out of the WL lobby the kids said they didn't mind skipping DHS all together and going straight to MK, which I was very happy to hear. I knew then we could easily be on the road by 2-3pm and home for dinner and a normal bed time. So off to MK we went, we were there just after 9am and DS suggested we take the train right over to Thunder Mountain, which we did, we all rode it twice, then DH and DS went on one more time, while DD and I went over to Splash Mountain. Love when things work out like that :thumbsup2 We had a lunch ADR at LTT which I was nervous about since DH hated TE so much. Plus DS wasn't feeling great and was melting down a lot. But LTT exceeded expectations and everyone was happy  Finally I did something right this weekend

I let the kids each pick one more ride then we headed over to CR to check it out. DH looked at me as we were walking around and said he felt like he was in an airport. But he didn't seem to hate as much as WL, and DS was all lit up and saying how much he loved it. The pool area was far quieter than WL which was another plus for DS. DD even said how much she loved and they both agreed they like it over YC. I still think YC had something magical that DH and I felt but the kids seem to be happy with CR so that is where we will stay for our 4 night trip.

DH did mention over the weekend that he totally forgot that the end of Jan he needs to prepare all the 1099's and W-2's for the office and all that other fun end of the year stuff. He will make our Jan trip if need be but Feb would be better. So on the way home I called and was able to get Feb 7-11 at CR with the discount. Not the exact dates I was looking for, but we will take what we can get. I am also holding onto a Feb 1-5 res at YC just in case CR isn't all the kids think it will be in Dec :lmao:

So overall Friday was by far our worst day, and things got better from there, but I did promise DH that we would never stay at WL again  (I am sorry KOOK ;))

I have a feeling DS will be home with me tomorrow, his allergies, don't seem like allergies today and I think he is getting a cold :sad2: At least I will have time to catch up on laundry, bills, and the DIS of course :goodvibes

I totally get where your coming from. My kids said the same thing about the Wl pool our first time there. I believe they used the words "lame". My DH said "boring". My DH only likes the Epcot resorts and the Poly. My kids an dh were mortified when I told them we were going back to Wl. I even tried to change my ressie the night before because they were so down about it. We ended up having a great time. This had a lot to do with the Club level. My kids also made some friends to play with on the beach. That helped a lot.

Sometimes a vacation just works and sometimes it doesn't. I have always loved the BC, but it I was a little disappointed the last time. Every trip has been so different. The one resort that has always been consistant is the Poly.

I don't know if will ever stay at Wl lodge again, but I'm glad we gave it a second chance. We had a good time, and I saved some money staying there vs Poly. I agree with your dh on CR. It always reminds me a airport or bus terminal.

YAY!!! Today we booked our flights for May!!!:banana::banana: Only one change....the flights are for all of us!! When it came down to it, DH and I really wanted the kids to come too....:lovestruc and we are both unsure about leaving them also. We figure there will be time later to do an adults only at Disney. Maybe we can sneak away for a night sometime instead. So...I will be booking the resort soon because ADR's will be in less then a month!

May 15 - 20th POR....and SWW!!! Yahoo!!!:dance3::yay::woohoo:

Now will hope for a discount for May...but even if not, it still seems like a deal after paying for the Poly for 2 years in a row!!

Jen:)

Jen!!! yay! You better get yourself a ticker!!!! I'm so glad all five of you are going. :goodvibes. DH and I have talked about going to WDW by ourselves but at this point we just can't do it without the kids...I feel it's like betrayal... :rotfl2: DH and I had three trips alone (including our Disneymoon) before the kids, so I can't complain. GET A NEW TICKER!!!!:woohoo::yay:

Yes ma'am!!:thumbsup2

What is UP with Southwest?!?!? Seriously....I have never seen their fares so high!! I usually would buy on the day they are released and took a gamble after watching SW fares for close to my April dates, and I booked with Jet Blue instead because I got tickets for my family of four for $950!!! It's out of Boston though, which is annoying since I LIVE in Manchester...but soooooo glad I did book them!!! I thought I would regret it today once SW fares came out but the cheapest option for non stop RT is $2400!!!!! :crazy2:

And most of the return flights are sold out at the lowest rate!! That's the last day of NH school vacation though so I'm sure a lot of people were waiting for those rates today....wow, SW.

so glad I booked when I did, even if we have to fly out of Boston! The girls do love a good limo ride!!!

This is what I noticed with the Airtran prices. They came out high, but then dropped the next day to normal levels. The flights for all five of us came to $950 (with my small credit applied), and paying for seats. I did notice the seats filling up on the plane though each time I "almost" booked yesterday. Good thing you booked with Jetblue! :goodvibes

Good thing I have that "deal instinct" :rotfl2:

But hey, in booking Jet Blue we also got to add two days to our trip and still save money! Can't go wrong there!!! :goodvibes

Lol did you not read my posts?? When I was there, I was constantly posting from my iPad with. Drink! Although, I was the at the pool not the balcony! It sounds like the perfect end of the day to me! Glad today was better!

But at least at the pool you probably ordered your drinks from a bar, not made them from the bottle you brought with you ;)

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Don't worry. I've had bottles, drinks and a big bar tab everytime I go.:)

Last year I went with a friend. After hearing everything we drank my DD said "most mothers go to Disney World for the rides and fun, my mother goes to be a alcoholic"!

Note she's 21 now and can't wait to have a drink at Epcot. :rotfl:

Good job! SW has been terrible! If we didn't have a $250 credit from a cancelled trip we'd book JetBlue . Even with that we're paying about $100.00 more for the 4 of us for January!

Hi everyone!

Keep looking! That's part of the fun!
:thumbsup2But when I keep looking I change.....

Our latest RC I'd like to credit to my Princess...HRH....

Gave them a choice...but it would be one resort, all three nights...any snack room hotel....what do they pick (well HRH, the sisters agree to everything...)

AoA Lion King :lmao:

Ah, balcony time! Me, my iPad, and a drink. Wow, you must all think I am an alcoholic ;)

Thank you again ladies for always being my sounding board and Disney support group ;)
Melissa!!! I love my WDW cocktails...no driving...relaxing...perfecto!!!

How sweet DS thanked you for dinner :flower3:

As for me... I am feeling much better now after a very nasty bacterial infection that I learned I've had for some time.
 So glad you are feeling better!!!!

Well, I'm starting to think about my son's Grad trip.....I have been researching resorts, and I have pretty much decided that our trip will either be Late Oct 2014/ mid NOV if there are discounts, or Mid/ end Jan 2015, as my birthday is Jan 29 too, and Jan is usually well priced with free dining or discounts.

I've also decided I'd like to do a 1BDRM at KIDANI. My family loves AKL, so I know KIdani will fit the bill....it has the pull out sofa for DS and the pull out chair for DS GF....a king bed in the Master for DH and I :thumbsup2 and 2 bathrooms!!! With a whirlpool tub for tired bones at the end of the day. I am sure we could get some light breakfast food like they serve in CL and do light breakfast in the room. I have never stayed without CL, but I like the layout and look of the rooms better than DVC at AKL/ Jambo house. And the views of DVC Jambo are not the best, roofs get in the way sometimes. It will be weird to not have CL, but I think we could try Deluxe Dining then. I would probably book CRO and try to find my own discount either % off or free dining because I like daily housekeeping and don't want to pay $45-$50 a day for it!
I really think Kidani will work for us this time. and I know my family will be happy at AKL area.....Kidani is first picked up at the bus too, and has a fun slide at the pool. Just for fun, I priced out THIS JAN with 35% off room deal....with deluxe dining for 4, park hoppers and WPM added on (I'd like to do one day at typhoon lagoon next trip) -- 6 days/nights at Disney ....was about $6500 , ($1 000 more than i paid for POLY CL GV basic free dining). I have two yrs to save......so that's good! I also won't do all the add ons like Discovery Cove, Blue Man Group, MNSSHP, eliminating those three things is a savings of approx $1300 -- we will still do 3 days at Universal, or perhaps cut it to 2 days since we love IOA a lot and not too keen on Universal side.

Those who've rented points before, what are your thoughts of that? I'm Leary because I prefer to rent from someone trustworthy....also, renting allows for no changes in dates, etc....., lastly the housekeeping thing, it's only once every 4 days......I'm fine making my own bed, but love lots of clean towels and go through a lot of soaps/ shampoos! Also don't want to have my trash emptied only after 4 days! I guess I've been spoiled by CL :rotfl:.....I Also want to add on the dining plan......

I am happy to have figured out a resort though, that's half the battle! Now to hope there are still good discounts in 2014/15 :thumbsup2

Marie :flower3:

Marie is back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2:

I am slightly excited about our trip we had a few unexpected expenses so I talked Bob into downgrading our room to Std since the cost difference payed to upgrade To DxDP as we are doing couple of 2 cr meals it just made sense.
Slightly excited is great Sheila  Yay for keeping Whoopi!!!!!

Home sweet home, happy and sad at the same time
Melissa
Welcome home Melissa!!! Hope DS is feeling better today. HRH and I spent yesterday dealing with a stomach bug :crazy2: Mostly better today..DD is fine..DH said because I am a wimp when I am sick:rolleyes1

Sometimes a vacation just works and sometimes it doesn't. I have always loved the BC, but it I was a little disappointed the last time. Every trip has been so different. The one resort that has always been consistant is the Poly.

I wonder why the rates have been so bad?? :confused3

We typically pay $1200 for RT on SW - MHT-->MCO, and I'm ok with that...but I had been watching and watching and just had this feeling that when our dates came up, it would be much more....so that's why I looked at JB, which isn't ideal, because that means getting a limo and driving 45 minutes into Boston, instead of flying out of the airport literally 7 minutes from us...

But, when I saw the JB rates for $950 for the four of us, I nearly fell off my chair!!! I've never paid that little!!! But, now those same flights are about $1300 and quickly selling out...so strike while the iron is hot is the lesson of the day!!!

I'm glad to hear everything worked out for you!!!

Okay taking some time this morning to catch up on everyone elses lives ;) Forgive me if I miss anyone or anything, its not intentional.

Jeanette - Okay, so AoA Lion King for all 3 nights, no WL, no Poly? Oh sorry about the stomach bug, YUCK :crazy2: I was going to try to send DS to school, got him up and dressed, etc. He isnt running a fever and isnt sneezing, but is so congested and then started complaining he was nauseous. So I bit the bullet and kept him home. I know if he doesnt feel good at school it will be one melt down after another.

Joanne - Okay now I feel better about my Disney drinks :rotfl: I swore when we were Epcot last month I was going to get a grey goose slushie, but it never happened, and this month I didnt want to even try to drag the kids through the WS with F&W going on. But next time for sure :thumbsup2 Maybe that can be our next group& Disney Alcoholic Moms :rotfl2:

Jen - Woohoo!!! :cheer2: So glad you decided to bring the girls! I could tell that was eating you up. Are you doing a royal room? I would imagine the girls would love that! Going back a few days, I am sorry to hear about the issues your parents. I know it really is hard. My dad gets very edgy too and yet with all my mom goes through she doesnt take it out on him either. Like you said, MEN!

Padawans - LOL! I guess lame is the theme of the WL pool according to our kids. I didnt even really save much because the kids insisted on bunk beds and then because we had to change dates last minute I could only get courtyard view, for the same price we could have been at YC. Maybe CL would have made it better, but DH just cant justify the extra expense. Like you said, every trip is different, and you just dont know how it is going to go :confused3

Marie - Glad you got it all figured out! Whirlpool, tired bones ::yes:: Keep your eyes open on the Universal rumors, looks like they will expand HP between the two parks, not sure on when yet, but that is what we are hearing. As far as renting points, I have looked in to it, but just dont want to take the chance of not being able to cancel or change. Although I wonder if trip insurance would work for that :scratchin

Magic - I am happy to hear you are feeling so much better, infections can be pretty scary and harsh on the body. I know my body is exhausted from fighting everything going in mine right now. Glad you are getting your priorities in order and heading back out the golf course :) Sorry to hear about ONJ cancelling, she would have been great! But sounds like you still have some good ones booked.

Basketlacey - I agree with your own rooms for 3 couples, I think have some personal space will be a must!

Candace - What did you decide on the HRH package? I think your family will be fine at Cape May. There were SOOOO many choices! DH even asked me to book it again for Dec or Feb. I got lucky and was able to sneak it right in on our Dec trip, which will be perfect. From dinner we can take the ferry to DHS to go see the Osborne Lights , YEAH!!!

Linda - Funny you mention not having that same comfy feeling at BWV, we just went through not having that feeling at WL. I have stayed away from the studios because I just dont think it will work with our family. Plus without being DVC or renting points it just seems so expensive for what it is. I cant wrap my head around DVC, but I keep thinking about it since we have been going so much again

I_heart - What did you end up deciding on? My kids are really looking forward to CR for our Dec trip!

Miss - Why do I have nothing to comment on for you??? Hope you had a great birthday :goodvibes Did you do anything special?

HELLO TO EVERYONE ELSE!!!!
_________

Well DS is home with me and now that all the meds are kicking in he is feeling a bit better and VERY bored as I will not let him turn on his laptop, he is home sick afterall. At least I am getting laundry done and caught up with my RC girls :flower3:

Melissa

Good morning! Been busy with doctors. All is good, in the treatment chair starting a new clinical trial today. Time to get healthy so I can go to WDW for NYE!

My apologies, I am so far behind I know I am going to forget someone, but here I go.

Melissa, sorry you had a rocky start to the weekend and your family was disappointed in the WL. Sounds like things got better though! :). Sorry I am behind, when is your surgery?

Magic, so sorry you were sick, but happy you are feeling so much better! :cool1: That's great news that you and your DH are back to golfing :dance3: I so agree with you about the Candlelight Processional. I am sorry we are going to miss it this year. Enjoy it for me also!

Jenny, yay for booking another family trip! :goodvibes. Is this one going to be a surprise also? Good job on snagging good airfares.

mousemommy, sounds like things are falling into place nicely for you next trip.

pas, sorry to hear you and HRH got a bug this weekend. Better now than in a few weeks. I would say something about your new accommodations for next month, but I suspect our Queen is not done changing! :confused3

sjs, now then time for some details about your Christmas trip! Have you tweaked your ADRs yet? Inquiring minds want to know!

Grumpy Grandma, loving your posts. Hope you are having an amazing time. Look forward to details on your return. I think you might be at OKW now, we have friends that absolutely love it there. I have seen photos, it looks beautiful.

To everyone I have missed :grouphug:

Jeanette: Thanks for the kind words!! I am sure you are going to love AOA...I must hear everything!

Miss: Did I miss your birthday??? So so sorry!! Here is a belated :bday:

Melissa: Yes it was eating me up. I truly haven't been sleeping well since we decided to do adults only. DH says I always am a kooky sleeper when I am feeling guilty about something. :worried:

I have been also bothered because I have not been involved at the school as much this year with the DD's. But now I am going to volunteer in the youngest class once a week before work, and am going on any field trips all three of them have. Oh and I am waiting to hear back if they want me for that lunch supervisor one day a week too. So....all seems to be falling into place now.

And the trip is the icing on the cake!! Booked it this morning....May here we come!!!:dance3::yay::cheer2:

Now we just have to wait for the comments from everyone "WHAT??? YOU ARE GOING AGAIN???" To which I will say :p !
