HI

we were also thinking of booking there for october..would be very interested to hear any information on it..

I saw a special on it on one of the sites , but can't remember which one it was now and of coarse can't find it again..

thanks
leslie

We've stayed there twice actually -- once in a suite and once in a "deluxe" room in the same building as the lobby. We preferred the deluxe room. I remember that the pool had a neat slide, and the restaurant in the hotel was great. There was also a Pizza Hut and other places within walking distance. We actually prefer the Sheraton Studio City for the "theming," but it's farther away.

I did a site inspection there in May 2002.

Pros:
Pool area is large and attractive, with a snake-shaped slide.
Animals (parrot and baby alligators) in the lobby, which kids would probably enjoy.
Rooms attractively decorated, have good amenities.
Location is pretty good (fairly close to the Downtown Disney hotels).

Cons:
It's set up motel-style with exterior hallways. I personally don't find this as secure/upscale as a hotel with interior hallways.
Rooms and external hallways have a few upkeep issues (chipped paint, stains, slightly broken stuff in rooms, etc.)

If you can get it for around $59 a night, it's not bad. If you're paying any more, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

Just got back from the Sheraton Safari and Loved it!
Booked through Dreamres and had no problems at all.
Arrived late - around midnight. We are starwood members so received a room that faced the pool.
The room was large, neat, clean. The hotel was beautiful - and we have stayed onsite before at the Polynesian, Port Orleans French Quarter and Riverside and also the All Stars.
The snake slide was great and the pool very clean.
Only a few first floor rooms are "motel" style with outside entry.
We are on the 4th floor and all rooms were interior entrance rooms from the 2nd - 6th floors.
They have a great breakfast buffet - kids eat free, happy hour in the bar were we ate nachos, chicken fingers, wings...etc for dinner.
We stayed 5 nights and then were moving to the Port Orleans FQ for the last 5 - if I could have canceled PO FQ without loosing my desposit I would have stayed longer.
I did get the great 49.00 rate.
The sizzler, pizza hut and steak n shake are right next door and you are right at the entrance to downtown Disney.
I would stay there again.

hi eno, thank you very much for your reply, after the last post we where worried we had made the wrong choice, but your reply has put our minds at rest, we have requested a third floor room with a pool view so we hope it is as nice as yours, thanks again susie2 :jester:

We stayed there December of 2000 and I would certainly stay there again. The Hotel was clean, the pool was wonderful and the staff was always very helpful.
Enjoy your trip.

Thebaby alligators must be new.....they were not there when we were. :(

One warning: I was under the impression (from info I read on their web site) that Downtown Disney was within walking distance. Well, it really would be quite a walk and I would not have even attempted it.
