My parents felt that being that we were in a cramped, tiny apartment with no grass or closeby park, no car etc., it would be better off for us to be upstate, with kids our own age and be occupied.

I have always had my kids home with me in the summer time. Those were the most relaxing, enjoyable 2 months of mine each year.

Yes, this parenting stuff is hard, and just gets harder!

We're already in the 80s over here.

They know you would never leave your freezer empty of popsicles!

I keep my kids very busy all summer long (as I know you do)
but I want them close by....
and in their own beds most nights!

I brought back some ice cream for DD and DS.

DD will be trying the same flavor as I did and DS likes coffee ice cream with M&Ms mixed in. Of course, he finished his as soon as I brought it home. DD will be pleasantly surprised since she didn't even know I was going.

I agree!!
So nice to know there are others out there who feel the same way as I do. Most of my neighbors send their kids off to sleepaway camp as soon as they are old enough to go. They would always marvel at the fact that I actually wanted my kids home with me all summer.

DS likes coffee yogurt and ice cream. I make iced decaf coffee at home, which everyone enjoys.

then again, so it tea....

DS enjoys tea
but the girls do not

DH and I drank tea daily growing up
but my girls prefer water
no arguments there!

When DS is sick, he drinks tea. Otherwise, I am the only tea drinker at home.

Water is best, especially in this weather.

DS is handling the laundry duty right now. So nice to not have to go up and down so many times.

I am going to go and start figuring out what we will be having for dinner tonight. Sundays are the one day of the week that I don't make a decision till the last minute.

it is so sweet and comforting!

We had so much fun together last summer at Disney, though, he doesn't realize that I won't go on majority of the rides that he would so it wouldn't work out well for us.
