Day 5, Part II – Wednesday, June 8, 2005

Cast:

Me: Trip planner, age unimportant, 2nd trip to WDW
Mimi – My mom, 62, 1st trip to WDW
Maddie – my niece, 12, 1st trip to WDW
Lauren – my daughter, 11, 2nd trip to WDW

Special appearances by coworker Julie and her family (DH Bob, DS Tyler-15, and DD Josie-6)

After our afternoon break we grabbed the bus back to MK because I had left the car at MK because I had snagged such a great parking spot that morning before my tour. We reached MK via monorail at 2:30 so we had time before our 3:20 PS at Crystal Palace. The girls wanted mouse ears so we stopped in one of the stores and bought them. Unfortunately, the entire park was sold out of the golden ears so they had to settle for black. Then we found out that you could only get them engraved at one place back at the beginning of Main Street. Since the parade was close to starting I didn’t want to double back and then get stuck waiting for the parade and miss our PS. Since it was about 3:00 we decided to go ahead and check in for our PS. While we were waiting we were able to watch some of the Share a Dream Come True parade from the CP porch. We couldn’t really see the people and characters on the street but we got a good view of the ones on the floats.

Our pager buzzed and flashed about 3:15 so we went for our table. Eeyore was just passing our table when we sat down so I knew it would be a wait for him to come back. Little did I know how long of a wait it would be! We enjoyed the food and Pooh, Piglet, and Tigger came in good time. Pooh is Maddie’s favorite and was so happy to meet him. It was so cute. When he entered our area she just sat at the edge of her seat and watched him. When she saw he was headed our way she jumped up and ran to meet him. I am so glad that I was there for her first WDW trip to share in this with her! At 4:30 I had given up on Eeyore ever making it back to us. I asked our waitress if she knew how much longer it would be because we were ready to go and had already paid. She went to check and came back and got us and told us to stand by the topiaries at the entrance. Apparently, Eeyore was taking a little break because he came out of the kitchen and walked over and signed autographs and posed for a photo.

It was finally time to leave CP. Cinderellabration was getting ready to start and the crowd was already formed. The weird thing is that they were a very loosely packed crowd if that makes sense. We were able to walk almost all the way up to the front by just walking between people. I don’t mean that we elbowed our way in either. It was a sparse crowd. Even when the show started they didn’t close ranks. Like I said, it was weird. Just a big group of people watching the show. The show was good and the costumes were gorgeous! When it was over it wasn’t even hard to navigate the crowd.
Our next goal was to get the mouse ears monogrammed. While we were waiting the flag ceremony began so Mimi and the girls went to watch it. I kind of watched from the doorway. Monograms done and flag down I wanted to show them the Exposition Hall and the secrets I had found that morning. They loved this area. I took pictures of them behind all of the cutouts and had a passing CM take a picture of all 4 of us in a car that is back there. The girls wanted to set and watch the cartoons so Mimi and I left them to it and went to look in the candy shop. Yum!! I could spend a lot of money in there! Luckily I had just stuffed myself at CP so I just bought a few little things. We went back to fetch the girls and headed back up Main Street. Yesterday we had covered most of Adventureland and Frontierland and some of Fantasy land so we need to hit Toon Town and Tomorrowland.

Our first stop was to get FPs for Buzz. Of course there was no line for TTA so we took another ride. The girls once again yelled greetings to the people below and those passing us in other cars. They got a better response this time. After TTA we went for a spin in the Carousel of Progress. I enjoy this show because it is fun, relaxing, and air-conditioned! Mimi got a kick out of it and was still singing the song when we exited. It was time for our Buzz FP and Mimi still felt bad about passing all those people. I explained to here that they too could get a FP but chose not, too. We all had a great time at Buzz. Mimi won because she hit one of those secret targets. Go Mimi!!!

The line for Space Mountain was 70 minutes and all of the FP were gone so we decided to save it for EMH same with Stitch. I will only ride the Speedway if there is no line. Of all the lines at WDW that one is the hottest. There is just no circulation in that line and the body odors are overwhelming. Anyway, it had a long line so we passed. Mimi's goal of the trip was to meet Goofy. I thought we would have that taken care of at Chef Mickey's but Donald was there instead. We headed over to the Toon Town Hall of Fame. I figured that would be our best shot. We got in Minnie's line but the CM couldn't tell us if he was there or not. We waited about 20 minutes and when we went in it was Pluto, Minnie and Donald. I told the CM That we had been hunting Goofy and could she tell us where to find him because that is the only character that my mom really wanted to meet. She said he would be in the ten at 7:00 which was 10 minutes away. The CM and I looked at Mimi who looked so disappointed. The the CM told us to wait by the wall. We did and after about 10 minutes all of the characters left. About 5 minutes later the door opened and Goofy bounded in and grabbed Mimi in a giant bear hug. Mimi was so happy!!!! It brought so many tears to my eyes that I had to have the CM take the picture. It was my favorite magical moment of the trip. Thank you Disney World!

We missed the Jungle Cruise yesterday so decided to head back over to Adventureland. The girls got we playing in the water at the Tiki gods and then we noticed that the line for Aladdin was only 5 minutes so we all went for a spin. Remember Mimi doesn’t do round and round rides but I got her on it and she loved it. Seems round and round slow rides are now MAR or Mimi Approved Rides. After Aladdin a show was getting ready to start in the Tiki Room. We missed this last year and the song is on my WDW CD so I was looking forward to seeing it. It was another one of those relaxing, air-conditioned shows so that is always a good thing. I wouldn’t wait in a long line to see it but if I could just walk in like we did I would see it again.

Next up I wanted to see Hall of Presidents. I had been telling Mimi about how real they are and she was looking forward to seeing it. Unfortunately the last show was at 8:00 and the time was now 8:05. I looked around and saw that they were putting up the ropes for Spectromagic. I’m not a parade person and don’t mind missing the other parades but Spectromagic is one I won’t miss. I just love all the pretty lights and colors. I had planned on seeing the 11:00 parade but found a great spot by the funnel cake stand and took it. I knew that Julie and her family were in the park so I called her and they were in Fantasyland. I invited them to join us for the parade and managed to hold our area until they made it. Julie’s husband and I went to get funnel cakes and water for the gang and we sat down and enjoyed our snacks and watched the parade. After the parade we wove our way through the crowd to the riverboat dock and got our EMH bracelets. They were checking for resort Ids. Our next goal was to see Tinkerbelle fly. I wanted to be on the Tomorrowland side and didn’t want to have to weave 8 people through the crowds so we went through Fantasyland. We found a spot on the bridge between the hub and Tomorrowland and waited for Tink. We had seen the fireworks on our cruise and nobody really wanted to watch them again. After we were awed by Tink we headed to Tomorrowland. Our first stop was Buzz which had a 15 minute wait. Everyone had a great time but I don’t remember who won this time. Then it was time for another spin on the TTA. When we went by Space Mountain I noticed that the line was still out the door so again, it would wait until later in EMH. We strolled over to Toon Town and the kids all went for a ride on the Barnstormer while the adults found a place to sit down. Then the kids goofed around Donald’s boat.

Julie and family hadn’t been on Splash or the Haunted Mansion so we headed that way hoping most of the EMH crowds were in Tomorrowland. Wrong. EMH was SO crowded! On the way to Splash we noticed that there was no ride for the carousel so everyone but Mimi hopped on it. Then there was no line for Philharmagic so we went for another showing. It was the first time for Julie and family and they really enjoyed it. I really enjoyed watching her DD grab for stuff. The wait for Splash was 30 minutes and everyone except Mimi (Splash is not MAR) wanted to ride it so I sat with her and fought off mosquitoes while the others went for a ride. By the time they got of Splash it was midnight. We headed to Haunted Mansion. Only Julies DH, DS, Maddie and I rode this time. Mimi and Lauren weren’t to keen on doing a haunted house while it was dark out and Julie’s DD wanted no part of it, period. When the four of us left the ride we found the rest of the group and Julie’s DD had fell asleep. Julie decided to do take her back to CBR and Mimi wanted to go with her. I agreed to stay with my girls and let Julie’s son Tyler stay with us. By this time it was 12:30 and the crowd had thinned considerably. Finally!

We parted ways and us EMHers headed to TL to see what the wait for SM was. It was still out the door! Geez! We’ll come back. The line for Indy cars was at the bottom of the ramp. That is acceptable to me so off to the races. We went up the up ramp and down the down ramp to the cars. The CM let me, Maddie & then Lauren through and stopped Tyler until the next group. During our drive I turned around and saw Maddie and Tyler but no sign of Lauren. I kept looking and couldn’t see her. Maddie was right behind me and I asked here where Lauren was and all she would say was she had to to back. What the heck does that mean? I was getting a little panicky. I finally found out what happened. It seems that when Tyler got stopped at the rope Lauren thought this was funny and turned around and did a smart little Ha Ha at him. The CM said “I know she didn’t just laugh at you!” Tyler said that yes she did. Oops! Lauren went back to wait and Tyler took her place. I had a good laugh once it was over.

We left Indy and headed to Fantasyland to see what was open. For some reason, Snow White was the only thing that closed for EMH. We flew through London with Peter Pan and then went for a ride with Pooh. It was now 1:40 a.m. (only 3 hours past by bedtime! Oh joy!) and the only thing we had left was Space Mountain. I knew that the girls were not going to let me get away with not riding it so we had to bite the bullet and hop in line. Yes, the line was still long at 1:40 in the morning. We finally got on the ride at 2:05 a.m. It was fun and everyone enjoyed it. When we got off the ride EMH was over and everyone was making their way out of the park. Not much of a crowd though. I was so glad that I left the car where it was all day. The lines for the busses were long. We got on the first monorail that came and took the short walk under the bridge to the car. We arrived back at CBR at 3:00 a.m. I can’t remember the last time I was out until 3:00 a.m. Oh well, we had a lot of fun so it was worth it. Needless to say, we did not set a wake up call!

Up next, the Hats Around the Rest of the World.

Thanks for posting! We were there this day, too, and I knew to look for you since we had posted before the trip (we were the ones from Rowlett) but now I know why we never saw each other. Based on your report, we were never in the same area of the park at the same time! And, we were gone by noon, too. Glad you all had a great time!

Whew! I'm tired just reading about it! ;) Great trip report!

Texan - Sorry we missed you!

Shelby - Yes, I was very, very tired! That was the only day that my feet were actually screaming at me but with an 11, 12 and 14 year-old there was no stopping!

When I looked at your trip photos, I noticed the crowd for Cinderellabration didn't appear jam packed...bet that doesn't happen often.

MAR...I love that...You go, Mimi! :rotfl:

Enjoyed reading your report ~ Thanx for posting.
