Sharon's Journal -150 here I come!

:wave2: Hi Sharon,
It looks like you are doing great with your eating and water. Hope that scale co-operates real soon :D . Hope you have a great day (and a nice whoosh overnight ;) )!

I'm glad everything has worked out Sharon and the weight will too. Keep a smile on your face :teeth: and look onward (and downward) to a successful week this week--you can show the scale who the boss is next Wednesday! Have a great day and try to get some time to relax. Take care! :sunny:

hi sharon, i'm here to drop off my extra points. i've got 3 for you today :p . now, i can't promise this every day, but just for today :)

thank you so much for your condolenses in my journal about brian leetch. it really hit me hard. it was so nice to see that you had thought of me when you heard. that made me smile :). so thank you so much :)

i'm hoping i'll have some time tomorrow to check in on you, but it's going to be a busy day at work, so i can't make any promises. actually, i can. i promise i'll be thinking about you if i don't get to post :). have a great day tomorrow, i *will* be sending good thoughts your way :hyper:

Hi Sharon! I came by to say a quick hello. Hello! Don't worry too much about the scale, ok? I've gone through and actually am going through the same thing right now. I'm stuck at 175 and the scale won't budge from there. We just have to keep doing what we're doing, stay on plan and eventually the scale will move, promise! I know it can get discouraging but we'll get over this hump.:D

I know I shouldn't be bothered by that stinky old scale, but I am!!!! That dreadful thing said 174 this morning! That is up another .5 lb!! I don't get it - I have been OP all week, even getting plenty of veggies, fruit and some dairy in. I exercised last night as well. I did 20 min on the stepper. It was less than usual, but I REALLY upped my intensity. Plus, I didn't start on the *evil* thing till 9:30 at night. I just didn't have it in me to stay on for 40 min. I figured if I worked really hard for 20 min that would be fine for last night. Why oh why is this scale going the wrong way? TOM is about a week and a half away. That means by this time next week, I'll start packing the water weight on....

I have a VERY busy schedule today. I've already dropped DH's truck off for service about 20 miles away (after dropping kids at school.) I have my yearly ob/gyn exam at 11:00 today. Pick up 1 kid from school at 1:50, the other has to stay after to make up a test she missed. DS has haircut at 2:30, P/u DD from school somewhere around then. Go back to P/U DH's truck (40 mile round trip), Have DD to dance by 5:30. Need dinner somewhere in there too. P/U DD from dance at 7:00pm, come home and collapse!! I hope to get my exercise in after I get home at 7pm.
While at ob/gyn, I'm going to ask if he can send me for thyroid test. My grandmother has problems with hers. Could it be part of why I'm not loosing? I mean it has been 8 weeks and I'm at 7 lbs down. I have been pretty darn good about staying OP (not perfect, but pretty good ;) )and I have been exercising- something I have never been very good about before. It has NEVER been this slow to loose weight for me.
Here's the low down on Thursday's food:

100 oz water
B - Banana 2pts
L- corn muffin, string cheese, carrots 5 pts
D - left over Italian chicken with broccoli 10 pts
S - Snackwell cookies 3 pts

Total 20 pts (target 22, APS earned 2)

Now I ask you, how could I POSSIBLY GAIN a 1/2 lb after that kind of day??????!!!!!! AAARRRGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!
I will NOT give up, but I would feel so much better if I could figure out what the heck is going on with my body. By the way, I haven't lost but an inch or 1/2 an inch here or there. So I can't even comfort myself with that. Clothes are fitting pretty much the same - no huge difference there.
Sorry for being so down. Maybe its all the rain and clouds. I'm just frustrated, that's all. I promise I'll be :sunny: soon!!

Hi Sharon,
Well, we posted at the same time, and you nullified my post, so I'll start again. to you. I'm sorry about the gain. An underactive throid can slow weight loss. Get it checked. I hope you get some answers. You have made some really positive changes in your life. You are exercising on a regular basis, even with that crazy schedule of yours. You have increased your endurance, too. You are eating a healthy program and being faithful to it. I'm really proud of you. I hope you can get a few minutes to yourself this weekend. Take care of yourself.

Sharon, no need to be sunny all the time here! If you feel the need to rant, then this is the place to do it. You're doing all the right things and that scale will HAVE to cooperate eventually. It sure knows how to play mind games with us, though, doesn't it??!!

You're just going in for your appointment now (sending you good vibes!!) and I hope your OB/GYN has some good ideas for you. I agree with the thyroid testing - you never know!

If nothing else, you're doing things that are better for your body than you used to. You're exercising and eating healthier! There are lots of other great benefits besides weight loss that you're experiencing. Just try to hang on, Sharon! :sunny:

Sharon,
I hope your appt. goes well today and the dr. can give you the info you're looking for. If there is something going on with the thyroid, then they can get that under control. I just want you to know that you are a true inpiration to me :D . You're right, you HAVE been doing great with diet and exercise. No need to be cheery all the time, that is what we are all here for. Take care  .

Sharon~ and :sunny: and:wizard: to you today! You have made some wonderful changes in your life and that *evil* scale (cousin to the *evil* stepper;) ) will cooperate for you. If you'd like, we can have a scale bashing party and come over and give it a huge kick for you! ::yes::

Sharon, you are doing such a wonderful job incorporating healthier food choices and exercise into your very busy life! Not only that, but you are such an encouragement to me and a lot of other WISHers as well. ::yes::

I hope that your OB/GYN might be able to shed some light on this situation. In the meantime, I hope you can find some time today to relax. Know that your WISH friends are here for you, as you have been here for us:grouphug:

Keep up the good work Sharon!! Hope your day gets much better!:sunny:

Tracy:teeth: :wave2:

Hi Sharon!

Another round of big  and :sunny: are shooting your way!

Try not to worry too much about the scale. Fluctuations happen from time to time. It's always good to have your obgyn check out the thyroid possibility. That's something you don't want to have blocking your path. Another thought I had...you said you've been exercising regularly and that wasn't something you'd done in the past. Could you be building muscle? Remember that muscle weight more than fat, so that's something to think about as well.

Your crazy life sounds a lot like my crazy life. DD is involved in lots of activities, and it seems like we're always running from point A to point B without time to catch our breath. I complain from time to time, but like you wouldn't trade these times for all the relaxation in the world. Well...maybe a free trip to THE World. Just kidding

I hope that your next check-in here finds you feeling better about things. You're doing a fabulous job and have made so many positive changes! Keep that in mind!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend! :wave2:

Thank you one and all!:smooth: You guys are so great! I was definitely down about the scale yesterday and even this AM, but coming here and reading what you guys have said has REALLY helped.::yes::
In all honesty, I was questioning why I was still doing this crazy diet. I mean, if I can eat what I want and not gain, why bother torturing myself for a scale that barely moves???!!!:earseek: But you guys are once again managing to make an honest woman out of me. I need to give it more time. And I need to stay OP in order for more time to work!!;) So while I may stray tonight (more on that later), I will stay OP overall.

Dr. appointment went well - just the usual. He is going to send me for a thyroid test, as well as for full blood work up. But he said 7 lbs in 8 weeks is great. NOT for me!!! Patience is definitely not one of MY virtues!! So we shall see what happens there. Lucky me, closing in on my 40th Bday this year, I also get to go for my first mammogram. Yippe!
I was pretty good on food yesterday. Schedule got in my way, Friday in Lent - so no meat was another obstacle and then finally a rotten attitude didn't help. I did as well as can be expected under all those influences! After Dr, I stopped at mall to pick up a few things I needed. Started getting hungry. What to eat that is not meat, is low fat and can eat while walking/driving??? I ended up with Pretzel Time pretzel bites, not great, but not Mrs. Fields cookies or McDs fries.... Here are the specifics:

100 oz water
B- apple & cinnamon oatmeal with FF milk 2 pts
L- pretzel bites 7 pts
D - fish & chips (I only ate about a handful of the fries) 11 pts
S - peanuts 4 pts

Total 24 pts ( target 22, flex 2 ) So all and all, not a bad day yesterday.:hyper:
Tonight I am taking DH out to dinner for his Bday celebration. It is a very fancy restaurant, we haven't been there for about 3 yrs. I will be careful about my choices, but I am not going to let it interfere with my enjoyment of the meal. It costs too much money to not just relax and enjoy!;) So, I will forego the bread, but have the appetizer, etc. Smart choices will be the buzz word for me tonight!::yes::
Tracy - I think I definitely need a scale bashing party! I didn't get on the *evil* thing today. I'm not planning on it for tomorrow either. Monday will be soon enough to find out how bad this weekend's indiscretions effect me.:( (I do however plan to get on the *evil* cousin stepper!!:teeth: )
I think I am back on a more even keel. I guess I just had to let it out a little yesterday. Thanks for allowing me to do that! Now, if I could just see a little :sunny: , things might really start picking up! However, they are predicting SNOW for Sunday night!:earseek: I am sick of that ugly white stuff! I want spring and flowers!:Pinkbounc

sharon, i am so so sorry you had a bad run in with that darn scale! i know i'm totally late, but i'll take care of it asap! glad to see you're going to get a thyroid test, that could definitely help provide answers. i hope so. that mammogram sounds fun too  .

i am very proud of you for passing up cookies and fries and going with the pretzel bites yesterday. these fridays in lent are definitely an obstacle. still a few more to go, you can make it ::yes::

have an absolutely wonderful time out to dinner with dh tonight. enjoy each others company, and that fancy schmancy restaurant :smooth: . sounds delightful :). and i'm glad you have a plan to just make smart choices. you can worry about points all the other days, but tonight, relax and have a good time.

that darn snow better not come! i'm so done with it too! let's start a petition to get the sun and the flowers to come out. yeah, i think that's what we should do. right after we beat up our scales :hyper: . i'm glad you're feeling better about it today though, but i'm still on my way to take care of it :p

hope the rest of your day goes well and that you have a wonderful evening tonight :)

Marcia - yeah, that scale of mine really needs to be dealt with:mad: Maybe you can do something Sopranos style (or at least threaten it! ) And Mother Natures sense of humor is really being lost on me... we are due for a dusting to 3 inches by tomorrow. YUCK!!!! The snow just barely melted from my backyard - now we get more!

So last nights dinner was WONDERFUL!! And I really didn't do too bad on pts. The food was so great. We don't go to that restaurant very often, so it was nice to just sit back and enjoy. If I hadn't indulged in 2 glasses of wine, I would have been right on target with my points.
Today is laundry, laundry, more laundry. Then over to MILs house for a birthday party for 1 niece and 1 nephew. (We combine them now or otherwise we would be doing them every week. I have 15 nieces and nephews!:p ) I will do fine with the food today. At this point, it no longer bothers me to skip the cake. Besides, they usually get icky store cake that I don't care for. Hmmmm, if they do ice cream cake, I may be in a little trouble  ...we shall see. I'll check the points on it before I go to see if it is possible.
I also need to get my exercise in. I'm thinking stepper for 30 to 40 minutes and then a walk outdoors. It looks very nice out right now. I better try to enjoy it while I can given the forcast!

So yesterdays food looked like this:

100 oz water
B- 2 slices rye toast, pineapple 4 pts
L- onion rings (oops! was still POed about the scale at that point!) 7 pts
D- Yummy!!! Escargot 7 pts, salad o pts, shrimp served over rice with an oriental sauce 5 pts, 2 glasses wine 3.5 pts

Total 26.5 pts ( 22 target, 4.5 flex - but worth every bit!!!:teeth: )

So that's my story for today. I'll try to hit some journals now. I hope everyone has a great day today!!:sunny:

Good morning, Sharon! I think you did very well yesterday! Don't worry about your scale; just stay op and great things will happen. I hope your tests go well and everything is okay; remember even the doctor said your weight loss has been successfull! Here's a little :sunny: for you; I hope the snow skips you. I had to laugh when you said three inches is a dusting b/c that would shut us down! My ILs live in upstate NY and they get feet and still function, but we would have at least a two hour delay w/ a few inches! Good luck at the party today; I think looking up the points ahead of time is a great idea--be strong. We are all here for you and remember, you have been successful, even if it's not going as quickly as you would like. I hope you have a wonderful day and I am proud of you for staying off the scale for a couple days; that's another thing I need to work on. Remember to smile. :teeth:

Hi Sharon,

Your dinner with DH sounds wonderful. It was definately an occasion to be a little more liberal with your points. Isn't that what flex points are all about? Enjoy the bday party. We ended up with 2 inches of snow last night, maybe it stayed in Michigan? Of course, I always like to share.;)
Take care.

Hi Sharon!

Sounds like you had a wonderful evening out with your husband. You did great with your points and got to have fun and relax at the same time. Good for you!

When you get home from the birthday party, why don't you hop on a plane and fly here? I've got loads upon loads of laundry you could do...and it's spring here! :p

Anyway...I'm so glad that you're sounding more upbeat today. Toss that scale out the window for awhile! I know I'll be wanting to do that too before much longer! Why don't we have a party with a burning scale centerpiece? :D

Hope you had a wonderful day...and many thanks for the endless encouragement you throw my way each day!

~Angela :wave2:

Sharon,

Sound like you had a nice time with DH & a yummy dinner. You did a really great job sticking to plan while still enjoying yourself & eating what you like. Hope you have fun at the B-day party!!

Talk to ya soon!!

Holly:wave2:

"Good morning, good morning, good morning to you....."
That is the song in my head this AM.:smooth:

So yesterday was a GREAT day!!!:sunny: I don't care that it is SNOWING this morning, I am still feeling bright!!:sunny:
Yesterday I did 30 min on my *evil* stepper - worked it really hard too! Then I took a very brisk walk outdoors for 30 min! I am very pleased with myself. I enjoy walking and don't really consider it exercise. So having done the stepper first and then the walk, I feel like I've "come a long way, baby!";) 1 hour of exercise also earned me 6 APS!!
I also did great at MILs house food wise. I ate a grilled cheese before I went so I wouldn't be starving and thus tempted. I had some roast beef and tomatoes with mozzarella (tried to get pieces not drenched in the olive oil  ). Then they had ICE CREAM cake! Couldn't have been a store bought cake I didn't like, huh? I checked before we went, and a slice is 5 pts. I had a VERY small piece, so I counted it as 3 pts.
I've decided that the problem I am having is a platuea. I am not sure how to bust through it on WW. Anyone have any ideas? I mean, WW doesn't have induction, so I don't know what I should specifically cut out.
Anyhow, I am very pleased to roll my bear for yesterday. Here's the details

100 oz water
B- Thomas' LC bagel 2 pts
L - 2 slices rye bread, 2 slices cheese 6 pts
D- roast beef, tomatoes W/ mozzarella 6 pts
S - peanuts, ice cream cake, popcorn 11 pts

Total 25 pts (22 target, 3 from APS)

I even indulged in some full strength popcorn last night because I had so many pts left - YUMMY!!!:teeth:
If I keep eating like this and getting my exercise in, the weight has to come off!! I know this, but sometimes I get very discouraged. I am going to NYC this Sat to see a Broadway play. Way back when, when I bought the tickets, I really thought I'd be down AT LEAST 10 lbs by now. I'm a little bummed that I'm not. I have a bridal shower the end of the month. I won't be down the 15 lbs I had hoped for. I'll be lucky if I get my 10 lb clippee by then! So even though I am doing the right things, in the past I've lost weight much faster than this time. That is why I am getting so down about it all. Oh well, I need to just concentrate on today, count my blessings and move on!::yes::
I hope everyone has a great day today! If you have :sunny: , PLEASE send it this way! I am SICK of snow!!!

Sharon,

Great job yesterday. Major exercise, and restraint on the ice cream cake. You are a superwoman. I'm not sure I could have been so good with ice cream cake. You will get through this plateau. You are ini t for the long term. We'll be here to help keep you on track.
Beth

:wave2: Hi Sharon,
Sorry can't send any :sunny: since we got some of the yucky white stuff too. Not enough to cancel school at least! I'm glad you are feeling better about things. I understand how you feel even though I'm only in my third week. I have also lost weight faster in the past but maybe it means that this is the time we will keep it off, right :) ? Hope you have a wonderful day ::yes:: .
