Sharon's Journal -150 here I come!

Good Morning Sharon! How long have you been at this plateau? Have you considered doing the Wendie Plan? I know Marcia is doing it and I've heard of people busting through plateaus doing it.

When I was doing WW what I remember reading is to eat you AP's, use your flex points but don't go over. Have you tried the website www.weightwatchers.com they have a message board over there as well htat might have some good hints for ya. However that does not mean you are allowed to abandon us here! ;)

~Amanda

Good morning, Sharon! I'm sending you lots of our :sunny: since you're still in the snow out there. Are you warming up yet?

Congrats on sticking with your points throughout the trip to MIL's and the ICE CREAM CAKE! Great job on that one...I don't know that I'd have had the strength to take just a small slice. :o

I second Amanda's suggestion of using the Wendie plan. I know several people who have busted their ongoing plateaus this way. It sure can't hurt to try!

You've got a great attitude, and I admire you for not giving up! You're doing a wonderful job!

Have a good one!

~Angela :wave2:

Sharon~
Good morning to you too! You did a great job staying on points this weekend, especially with ice cream cake. I wish I could sned you some sun today, but we have 2 inches of snow on the ground.:( I can't wait for spring to come so that we can all get out of the house and enjoy the warmer weather!:sunny:

I know what you mean about the weight loss issue too. Although I don't weigh myself on a continual basis, I do measure how I am doing by how my clothes feel. Unfortunately, my clothes don't feel that much looser. I figured that once TOM came, I would exeprience a whoosh, but 9 days later I still have TOM and no whoosh.:( The one plus to this is that I do feel muscle definition and I feel much stronger.

Keep on keepin' on Sharon! You are doing a great job with the *evil* stepper and you know that one day, it's *evil* cousin, the scale, will cooperate and give you the numbers that you want.

Hope you have a wonderful day today!:sunny: :sunny:

Tracy:teeth: :wave2:

Beth - thank you! You are right, I AM in it for the long haul!::yes:: And one of the reasons I'm hanging in there is because of the support I get from everyone here!
Val - I keep telling myself that losing this slow is the healthy way and it means it will stay off this time... I sure hope so!!
Amanda - I have been doing this WOE for 7 weeks. My chart for WW on line is pretty much a straight line. I kind of try to do Wendie plan. I find it hard to follow with my busy schedule though. I do try to eat more when I have APS, thus my yummy popcorn last night!:teeth:
Angela - the snow seems to have stopped, but no sun YET....... And I'm NOT giving up this time!!!:Pinkbounc I'm not, I'm not, I'm Not!!!
Tracy - you may be on to something. My scale is within shouting distance of my stepper....have they been conspiring against me???:earseek:
Thanks for all the wonderful support again you guys. So far, so good today. I'm off to go get some lunch. I'm not quite sure what, but I'm sure it will be something OP!::yes::

Sharon your cheat free bear is inspiring!! Those silly extra pounds will come off - honest!!

Hang in there! :sunny:

Okay, here's what I ate yesterday:

100 oz water
B- Honey nut cheerios 2 pts
L- Small fries (oops!), chicken strips 12 pts
D- Cheeseburger (made at home on george Foreman grill) 10.5 pts
S - Kudos bar 2pts

Total for day 26.5 pts ( 22 target, 4.5 flex)

I am still hanging in there. Went on the scale this a.m. - first time since Friday. Not pretty! I have official weigh-in tomorrow - we shall see then.
Ddin't exercsie yesterday. Definitely will tonight. AI is on for 1.5 hrs. I should stay on that *evil* stepper for the whole time to try to move this crazy scale!!!;)
Everything else is going well. SNOW again this a.m. And they are saying more on Wed! YUCK! YUCK! YUCK! Where oh where is spring!!!!

Hi Sharon!

Sounds like I need to come over and beat the stuffing out of that scale of yours! :earseek: I hope that scale smartens up by tomorrow morning, or it might just find itself out in the cold. Hang in there!

Hope you have a wonderful day, despite the snow! :sunny:

We ended up with about 3 inches of snow at my house by about 7 pm last night - YUCK!!!!!!

I had weigh in this AM. Not good - 174 lbs which is up .5. I went back and looked at my weight loss journey. Here it is:

1/7/04 181
1/14 178
1/21 176.5
1/28 175
2/4 176.5
2/11 173.5
2/18 175
2/25 173
3/3 173.5
3/10 174

I am really getting discouraged. I am trying to think of ways to change what I am doing to make this scale move. I usually use between 3 and 8 of my flex pts per week. Sometimes I eat my APS, sometimes I don't. I try to vary my pts per day, so that it is not always the same. I also try to vary my food every couple of days, so that I don't get bored and my body doesn't get used to the same foods.
I am thinking of going off plan (sort of) for a week and eating more. Then when I come back OP, the scale might go down?? I don't know, I just want to try to get this trend to start back downward. At this point, I would even be satisfied with a .5 lb loss per week. But in the last 6 weeks, I am down a total of 1 lb!!!!
Yes, it is healthier living, and I am pleased about that. But I truly need to lose weight and that is not happening!
i guess it just isn't a great day for me. Maybe we'll see some sun, the snow will melt and I'll feel a little better.
Here is yesterdays food:

100 oz water
B- honey nut cheerios 2 pts
L - kudos bar 2 pts, slim fast macaroni & cheese 5 pts, chicken 7 pts
D- cheese sticks 11 pts

Total for day 27 pts ( 22 target, 5 flex - can you tell Im getting discouraged??!! )

All right girls, lets hear some brainstorming and help me lose some weight!!!:teeth:

Hi Sharon,
I wish I could offer you some advice but I'm not very familiar with WW. I hope someone else here will have some ideas for you. I can offer support though. I hope you are able to kick start that scale somehow. Try to hang in there.

Okay everyone!
I think a scale bashing party is in order here! Let's all get together and give Sharon's *evil* scale a good kick! ::yes::

I wish I could offer some advice too, but I am not familiar with WW either and I only know bits and pieces of information about the other diets. What I do know is that you have been doing a wonderful job exercising and with your points! You are maintaining a healthier lifestyle and you have lost weight. I also know that you have been a wonderful encouragement to me and others here on the WISH boards!::yes::

Have you thought about trying a different diet? Or maybe different types of exercise? I have been doing the FIRM videos and I think I am going to add in Windsor Pilates for a change of pace. And as for diets... Well, I'm still working on that one.;)

Sharon, I am sending you  and lots of :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: to help you get through the day! Keep on keeping on! :moped: You CAN do this Sharon!::yes::

Hi Sharon,

I wish I had all the answers for you, but I don't. Plateaus are a horrible thing. You've been doing a great job. I too don't now much about WW. Erin might have a suggestion. I don't think your idea of increasing intake for a week is a bad one. It just might jolt your body into losing angain. You might try posting to the main board. I'm sure there are WW followers who have borken a plateau on this board.

Beth

Sharon - I'm sorry to hear that the scale isn't moving again. I think trying to eat a bit more is a good idea. I know you've been exercising so just keep it up since it's definitely helpful for you. I know that plateaus can be really challenging. Are your clothes fitting any better even though the scale isn't cooperating? I found that the last time I hit a bump on the scale, my clothes were still getting bigger on me so that helped me get through it. Just remember that you are definitely on the right track and it will happen for you so just don't give up. You are doing a great job!

Hang in there, Sharon! You are so strong and I know you can overcome this. I agree w/ TSDuo that changing up your exercise routine a bit might be just the answer. Maybe do the *evil* stepper, but tack on some hand weights afterwards, or try a video tape and alternate days. Some strength training might be just the thing you need to break through. Good luck and remember we are here for you. :)

Sharon, I'm sending extra  s your way!! I wish I knew how to break a WW plateau. :(

The only thing I might suggest is to concentrate on REAL food - you know, food that isn't so processed. Basic meat, basic veggies, basic fruits. As a low-carber, I don't know much about the grain category, but whole grains are always better - think oatmeal in the morning instead of processed cereal, maybe?

Post the question on the main WISH board - lots more WW people that don't read journals there.

Changing up your exercise is a great idea! Your body actually gets used to the exercises you do on a regular basis and uses less energy than it did when you started them.

Hang in there Sharon - you can't give up now!! :sunny:

Oh, pooh, Sharon! I wish the scale had better news for you this morning! I'm sending a big  and lots of positive vibes :wizard: that you'll get over this hurdle sooner rather than later.

I think switching up your exercise and eating a little more are both great ideas. It sure can't hurt to try! I wish I knew more about WW, but I've just started this journey myself and can't begin to give pointers on what might or might not work.

I am so impressed that you are sticking with this even though it's been so frustrating for you over the past 6 weeks. You will eventually prevail, even though it seems like you've been stuck forever. Surely someone on this board will have some better suggestions for you.

Just know that I'm here if you want to yell, scream or throw things. I promise I won't tell! Keep on keepin' on, and you'll get there!

~Angela

oh goodness sharon, i've been mia at such a bad time! i missed a scale bashing  . in all seriousness though, i'm so so sorry about this nasty plateau.

my advice would be to definitely play around with your points. for a week, try eating every single point, including flex and aps. i know i have noticed that on occasion, you haven't eaten all of your target. as crazy as it sounds, you may not be eating *enough*. also, i agree with doe about trying to stick to "real" food. try going with more real food type stuff, and stay minimal on the snacky type stuff. i knwo this is much easier said than done. and i know ww is about being able to eat whatever you want, as long as you're within points. but maybe your body is telling you that you can't always just eat whatever.

and i know that you've done the wendie plan in theory, trying to do some higher and lower point days, but maybe you could try really following it for a week. i know it's really hard to do without planning, and you odn't necessarily always have the time or ability to plan, but it's just a suggestion.

also, i noticed in your weight loss progress that there was a week where you lost 3 pounds! now, i know that's not a typical week, but maybe you could go back and look what you were doing that week, food wise and exercise wise, and see if anything seems different than what you're doing now.

okay, i'd also like to send you a nice big  because i know you need it! this is really hard, but i have faith in you sharon! you are so strong, i mean come on, you tackle that *evil* stepper :p . you really are an incredibly strong woman, i know that you will be able to figure out a way to smash right through this plateau ::yes::

it's nice and sunny here today, you don't live too far away, i hope you have some nice sunshine too! i hope you have a good day today, and the next few days too in case i don't get another chance to pop by :sunny:

:grouphug: That is for all you guys! Your support means more to me than you can imagine. I told my DH of my run in with the scale last evening. His automatic response was I must be doing something wrong! AAARRRGGGHHHH! He is one of those guys who can lose weight just by thinking he might like to. He doesn't understand whats so hard about it for me! But how nice it is to come here and get the support I need!::yes:: Thank you for that!
You guys came up with some very good ideas. I particularly like the idea of eating less snacky foods and more healthy foods. I know eating more in general holds a lot of merit, but I can't seem to mentally get through that. I just feel like the scale will skyrocket if I eat so much!:earseek: So, for now, I'm going to concentrate on eating better foods. And also changing up my exercise. I am very committed to the *evil* stepper because I so desparately need to lose inches in my nether region. But I guess that could wait a little while if doing something else will jump start my weight loss. So I am thinking a WATP or Firm video one go round and the stepper every other time. I am still holding with my goal of exercise at least 3 times a week if not more, but I will change it up a little more to see if that will help.
Of course, here I am recommitting to something and tonight I have to go out for dinner! I really don't want to, but my MIL is making me. Someone is retiring from the family business and she doesn't want to be there without me. So I am stuck going. I know we are having soup of the day, salad and chicken bolognese. Hopefully the soup will not be a cream base. Salad will be a.o.k., but I don't think the chicken will. Its stuffed with sausage and something else - I forget. Oh, and there will be pasta too. Oh boy! I'm trying to go very light on the pts today so its not so bad tonight.
Oh, also forgot to say I am home with DS who is sick with Strep. (kinda funny Doe, how I just wrote all the good stuff about being home with sick kids in your journal!:teeth: ) DH is coming home early so I can head to the office for a couple of hours anyhow.

Okay, yesterdays food was pretty good. Tell me what you guys think.

100 oz water
B- honey nut cheerios 2 pts
L - roast beef on rye with baby spinach and lt mayo 5.5 pts
D - homemade lasagna 11 pts
S - 1 medium bagel, nothing on it 3 pts

Total 20.5 pts (Target 22)

Thank you again for all your great ideas and warm thoughts! You guys are the best!!::yes::
The :sunny: is out today and I am feeling like I CAN do this!!:teeth:

Sharon, first I'm sending some healing :wizard: for your sick DS! Strep can be so nasty!! ::yes:: I hope he's feeling all better soon, but enjoy babying him while he'll allow it! :p

Next, I'm sending some magic weight-reducing :wizard: for you! Sprinkle a little on your dinner tonight - maybe it will take some of the calories away! :D Dinner sounds so yummy! Some people have great results after they eat MORE points for a day or two and then go back to their lower point levels, so maybe you should just ENJOY that dinner guilt-free!

You'll find a way to outsmart that evil scale, Sharon - I just KNOW it!! Keep trying different ideas - something is bound to work!

Hi Sharon,

Don't you just love it when your dh says something like that to you?! Mine did the same thing when I announced I had lost a total of 3 pounds in 2 weeks. He says, "woah, I'm sorry." like it was nothing. Now I wish myself it was more I lost but doesn't he know he's supposed to say something supportive? Men  .

I really love your idea of changing up your work out. Hope it will give you that extra boost to kick the scale into moving ::yes:: . Have good time tonight at the dinner and I hope your ds is feeling better soon  .

Good morning, Sharon!

I'm so sorry about your sick DS. Is he feeling any better this morning? Step is so icky...I just hate it! I'm sending lots of well wishes so that he's back to 100% very, very soon.

Glad to see that you've decided to mix things up a bit. I'm rooting for you all the way!

Have a great day!

~Angela
